The Devil Went Down to Georgia Cupertino

Whoa:
Trip Chowdhry, an analyst with tiny Global Equities Research, contends that 7 minutes of the June 7 keynote by Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been blocked off for a presentation by Microsoft (MSFT) to talk about Visual Studio 2010, the company’s suite of development tools. Chowdhry says the new version of VS will allow developers to write native applications for the iPhone, iPad and Mac OS. And here’s the kicker: he thinks Microsoft’s presentation could be given by none other than Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
Developers! Developers! Developers!

I don’t buy it. As another developer pointed out in a comment on the Barrons blog:
There are way too many reasons why Apple wouldn’t want Microsoft involved in this.
However, there is one really good reason why it would be a fascinating strategic alliance: Google. It would be a kick in the balls to Google in a huge way. But it would also mean that MS is giving up on their own mobile platform.
I’ll be honest, I think Visual Studio runs rings around Xcode in some ways. The debugging tools in VS are cracker-jack. They’re border-line unusable in Xcode. I find them to be nothing short of frustrating as hell at times. If Apple could find a way to integrate the VS debugging tools into Xcode, I’d be in heaven.
Overall, I think this is nothing more than a big pile. I’ll be shocked if MS is doing this.
