The Hill claims the Democrats are two votes shy of a health care “win.” Read:

Hours before a scheduled vote on healthcare reform, Democratic leaders don’t have the votes.

The decisions of two Tennessee Democrats, Reps. John Tanner and Lincoln Davis, to vote no has put President Barack Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her lieutenants in a major bind.

If every member votes, Democratic leaders can only afford 37 defections. According to The Hill’s whip list, there are 39 Democrats planning to vote no.

If this thing fails, then good for the country — because this is no reform bill. It’s a simple takeover, based on the premise of throwing everybody into the same boat. And then poking holes in the hull.

If this thing fails, then bad for the country, too — because we’d be facing something I think unprecedented in American history: A three-year lame duck President.

Better a lame duck than Unreconstructed Obama, maybe. But that’s not saying much.

Given that Obama will be president for a little less than three more years whether he’s a lame duck or not I see nothing but comfort and joy in him being a lame duck. Who knows maybe he’ll become so frustrated that he agrees to step aside for cardboard cut out Roger Rabbit. That would be change (for the Moment)we could believe in.

    fingers crossed.
    holding breath.

Counting on democrats to do the right thing
almost too much for logic circuits to compute.

Fabric of spacetime at risk. Waiting for black hole to form under house floor from all the suckitude ammased on the floor.

Wishing to go back to a world where we debate corn subsidies and sugar importation tariffs.

Speak for yourself. I, for one, want health care that doesn’t make it feel I am being raped by the insurance industry. As for Obama being a lame duck, that is simply untrue. He is trying to do something for the people and Republicans who can’t think for themselves are trying to stop him every step of the way. You people just want to say “see, told you he shouldn’t be president”. Well, I would much rather have him in than McCain, another Republican who can’t think for himself.

  4. Cheryl,

Thanks so much for giving me permission to speak for myself on my own blog.

    Typical.

How about a dead duck? Drive a stake thru.

  6. When did the words “We the People” get replaced with “Because I said so”?

If I were you Stephen Green I would take care of my mouth or computer key pad … included in this healthcare plan are : Preventive care

Which mean that a person who respond at the name of ”vodkapundit” would qualify for voluntary/compulsory alcool decontamination AND would be forbidden to pass hours in front of a computer instead of participating on ACORN dominical exercise club

Welcome in a world of socialized healthcare, Stephen Green, with DemNannies, possibilities are endless !

Remenber that salt have been already been banned in NY

Cheryl I, for one, don’t give a good rat’s ass what you want if it comes at my expense. Neither you, nor any other good American citizen has any “right” to anything if it comes out of my pocket at the point of a gun.

So pretty please, with sugar on top, if you want “free” health care, kindly move your ass to Canada.

Then pay your medical practitioner’s bill directly yourself with the savings you’ve accumulated over a lifetime of bypassing being raped by the insurance industry.

    See? Problem solved.

He can do something, best, by leaving me the fuck alone.
I don’t need to be dictated to about my health by a boozing, extra fatty beef eating, cholesterol stoked smoke fiend with the wife whose ass is bigger than mine.
But we all know that while he may ‘care’ for The People, abstract, he really doesn’t give a shit about anybody who isn’t going to help him out immediately.

Cheryl, ‘rape’ is an awfully strong word in this context. I will indulge you, just for the sake of continuity. If you feel ‘raped’ why do you continue to be a victim? Drop your insurance. Take control and open a health savings account. Be rape free. Well, now you can’t because obviously you haven’t done the research. The government, my dear, is just going to ‘rape’ you some more.
