WaPo columnist Harold Meyerson mourns the “stillbirth” of a new Progressive Era — yea! — but then drops in this little nugget:
The right has had great success over the past year in building a movement that isn’t really for anything but that has channeled anew the fears and loathings of millions of Americans.
Listen, pinko — getting the government to sop taking over our decisions and our paychecks is called “liberty.” And liberty isn’t nothing; it’s damned near everything.

Like that guy would care. He probably has wet dreams of Michelle Obama dressed in an Ilse She Wolf of the IRS outfit buggering him with a strap-on. Or maybe in his dreams HE’S Ilse She Wolf of the IRS. You can’t be a “progressive” without having a strong streak of either sadism or masochism, or a combination of both.
Oh, may be time to break out my Ilsa movies.
And Harry, the new right movement is for the individual, it is for you being in charge of your life. Yes that may be scary to some, but despite FDR’s noxious warping of freedom into “freedom from fear,” life is full of scary moments and challenges.
It’s far better than being a serf or a slave.
Harold laments the loss of the commies and socialists of the 30s, who helped along FDR’s agenda. “The construction of social movements is always a bit of a mystery,” he says. What he needs to study is their destruction if he wants to know why Obama doesn’t have such allies today.
He is projecting anticipatory guilt;
When the Progressive’s promises to
the various protected minorities
come due, there will be Hell to pay.
M Report, those promises have been broken since they were first made, and the Left always knows what to say: “You see how miserable you are now? Well you wouldn’t even have that if it weren’t for us.” Then the rest of us pay hell.
To steal a line…”Best Post Ever!”
