One Wonders

September 10, 2009 - 9:30 pm - by Stephen Green

For the record, Joe Wilson is a bit of a jerk, and a raging symptom of what’s changed for the worse in American politics in the last 40 years or so.

That said, how is one rude congressman bigger, more important news than Van Jones or our CINC turning himself into a self-destructive attention-whore?

Just askin’.

It’s a scandal and an outrage that only one Congressman called Obama a liar last night, and Joe Wilson doesn’t symbolize anything besides how meek today’s Republicans are compared to the Democrats of 4 years ago.

“Raging”? He used two truthful words, and he apologized for shouting them.

What should he have done, passed his views on to whatever Republican had been selected to give the response that the networks refused to broadcast?

Yet again, Obama says something so stupid, dishonest, or evil that he obliterates his long-planned Moment — or provokes a response that does.

And bgates, I think walking out would have been the proper response. When a speaker starts out by accusing you of bad faith, there’s no point in sticking around.

Joe Wilson is indeed a dishonest, partisan hack who deeply disgraced himself and his party by calling the President a liar. Bush should never have sent him to Niger to investigate those yellowcake rumors in the first place.

Bush should never have sent him to Niger to investigate those yellowcake rumors in the first place.

The funniest part is, I’m sure there are people who really do think they’re the same guy.

the only thing wrong with wilson’s statement was timing. his apology should consist of “I’m sorry you are a liar”.

I’m a very distant relative of Preston Brooks (no kidding), and I say Joe was a lot calmer than he could have been.

The Congressional Research Service has indicated that, as it stands, there is nothing to prevent coverage for illegal immigrants under currently considered legislation.

    They say that …
if the facts are on your side ..
pound them with the facts .. else ..
if the law are on your side ..
pound them with the law .. else ..
    just pound the table

This whole Joe Wilson reaction episode is merely “pounding the table” since they really don’t want to talk about healthcare reform .. they would rather just pass something, anything and break their arms patting themselves on the back.

Hell, I wish Joe Wilson would have thrown a shoe at Our Lord and Savior.
