Obvious, Even On a Weekend

August 1, 2009 - 9:20 am - by Stephen Green

Turns out, the rich can’t pay for everything:

This will not be the last time that the president runs into a conflict between his audacious agenda and his pay-as-you-go guarantee, when only 5 percent of taxpayers are being asked to chip in. Critics from conservative to liberal warn that Mr. Obama has tied his and Congress’s hands on a range of issues, including tax reform and the need to reduce deficits topping $1 trillion a year.

But… but… but… they’re rich.

More seriously, I love that Intrepid Reporter Jackie Calmes parrots the old “pay-as-you-go” promise as if it has already been broken by trillions of dollars. Who edits this stuff?

Probably the same folks who decided to bury this in-depth “analysis” on a Saturday.

Love the end of that article. Now they are saying that they are going to have to tax the middle class as well.

What I want them to do is define what they mean by rich, middle class (of all levels) and lower class (of all levels). Then I want them to define what they intend to do about loopholes and offshore investment accounts, etc. Get that out there on thet able and then talk to me about tax increases. They probably won’t because that would fur shur lose them the next election.

From the article: The critics do not have a beef with the government’s taking more from the wealthiest Americans, especially given the growing income gap between the rich and everyone else.

Screw that. I have a problem with it, I’m pretty sure our host has a problem with it, and our country was founded by people who would have a problem with it.

  3. Unfortunately there’s a downside to the clown show, and that is the probability that the Democratic stupidity and overreaching will allow the Republicans to return to some semblance of power without having had to reform themselves, meaning the Democrats will then shortly again find themselves in power by default, and the whole thing starts all over again with freedom losing at every turn of the screw…
