Here’s One Bum About to Get Thrown Out

CQ rates the New Jersey governor’s race “leans Republican.”
Given incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine’s …checkered… reputation, I’m pretty sure that this is a serious case of all politics being local.

Yea, well….remember this is New Jersey we’re talking about here.
There are rumors circulating that NJ Dems are already testing the waters to see if the can save the office by pulling a Toricelli and replace Corzine with someone else. The names being mentioned include the State Senate President (who was already Acting Governor for a year after the McGreevey debacle) and Newark Mayor Corey Booker.
How about one of those Kosher Nostra kidney guys?
Doug makes a good point. Perhaps it’s just the result of being a Chicago White Sox fan of fifty years’ standing, but I don’t count victories until the game is over, which, in the case of the New Jersey gubernatorial election, probably means after all the lawsuits about vote-stealing have been decided.
We stumbled upon the local (New Jersey) late night newscast last week– we really must make an effort to watch the first five minutes of it more often!
It was the day of The Indictments! Corzine looked just awful at his news conference… he seemed to know it was all slipping away. And with each successive sentence, it seemed to get worse. I’m surprised he finished the statement.
Then they caught Christie at a meet and greet with his new running mate Guadagno! Such a stark contrast! (And Christie showed a lot of class– he vehemently refused to speculate on the indictments’ effect on the upcoming election. It was the first time I’d seen him on video… this guy is good! And Guadagno (former Monmouth County Sheriff) seems to be an apt politician as well.
“Leans Republican?” Oh, it’s leaning all right.
