$250,000, $200,000 — what’s a 20% error among friends?
Any guesses on what the final threshold for a surtax or otherwise higher income tax rate will be? I’m in for $100K for a married couple filing jointly.
I’m also, for the first time in my life, considering moving to Canada, where, also probably for the first time in my life, taxes are lower than in the United States.
Whatever it is, it’ll start with a “2.” It may include a comma, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
Two people familiar with closed-door talks by committee Democrats said a House bill probably will include a surtax on incomes exceeding $250,000, as Congress seeks ways to pay for changes to a health-care system that accounts for almost 18 percent of the U.S. economy.
The proposal is for a surtax for incomes above $250,000 not $200,000. Nice headline though!
