Going Down?

Finally, a sensible plan to save General Motors from itself — and it uses less government involvement than we’re likely to get.

GM should exist as Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and GMAC. Period. The rest needs to go.
Why keep GMC? GMC doesn’t make one original product – everything they produce is a badge-engineered Chevy truck. And badge-engineering has already resulted the living deaths of Pontiac, Buick, SAAB, Saturn, Geo, etc. GMC’s fate should be no different.
And GMAC? Cerberus already owns half of it, to merge with Chrysler’s finance unit as soon as Cerberus can dump the rest of Chrysler. GMAC is toast no matter what.
But you’re dead-on right about Chevy and Caddy. They should — I hope — survive.
