Caution: Naughty Words

Richard Belzer says that our soldiers “aren’t the best people” to ask about how things are doing in Iraq. Newsbusters has the transcript and video.
When Bill Maher thinks you’ve gone too far (as he tells Belzer at the end of the clip), then you’re probably this close* to praising Kim Jong Il.
*Hold your thumb and index finger very, very close together for visual effect.

Janeane Garofolo: As actors, it is our responsibility to read the newspapers, and then say what we read on television like it’s our own opinion.

I quit watching any show in the Law & Order line up quite some time ago. They had to go get political and it’s just so hard to enjoy stupid as entertainment.
What ever happened to cops and robbers? Not significant enough for people to feel important or what?
On a completely separate note… the transcript is great except that it’s not “woe, woe, woe” it’s “whoa” or “whoah.” Woe is sorrow. Whoah is slow down or stop.
*sigh* I hate being a pedant.
And now I’m thinking I spelled that wrong… where the heck is my dictionary.
Dictionary says, whoa. No “h”.
When the nearrative fits their argument, it’s valid. When it doesn’t, it’s not. And if you can’t discredit the story, discredit the story teller. Why are we surprised by this type of brainless partisan tripe from some raving lunatic. The goal posts will be shifted however many times as required.
Kerry was an expert on the war because he was a soldier. It was what he based his presidential campaign on. But the Swifties were partisan scum.
Jack Murtha has credibility because….wait for it. He was a Marine! And those potential democrat candidates that the party so wanted to run in 2006 against Republicans had credibility precisely because, they were soldiers!
But these men & women presently engaged and on the ground in harm’s way, what the hell do they know? They’re loosers, idiots and worse. Until that is, one of them speaks out against his brothers and sisters in arms, then he’ll be a hero.
Aren’t the poor SOB’s aware that people like Belzer know better, are better? Just like the left in general.
You see it’s not an argument of reason, it’s an article of faith.

I thought their whole marketing plan from day one was generally “Ripped from the Headlines!”
Mr. Belzer’s comments clearly indicate that he thinks that nobody without a college degree can think clearly. I therefore find it of interest, that he, according to his biography at Wikipedia, failed to complete junior college.
Rep. Ros-Lehtinen, by the way, has a doctorate.
The original Law & Order, at least until Michael Moriarty
left, was one of my favorite shows. I documented its decent into Hollywood liberalism in a long post written during the early, freewheeling days of Blogcritics.
Hey, if it wasn’t for Dick Wolf and the Law’n'Order franchise, we would never have learned that all the crime in NYC is committed by 1. Angry White Male Christians. 2. Officials of Homeland Security or the “Administration”. 3. Pedophiles or 4. Angry White Male Pedophiles who are officials of Homeland Security or the “Administration.”*
* In the interest of fair reporting, every once in a while a person of color is arrested in the L&O universe. However, they are always goaded to their crime by 1., 2., 3., or 4.
Tim P,
Kerry was a sailor, not a soldier. The Swifties were also sailors, just like Kerry.
You’re right. And I knew that too, but was just using the term loosely while typing fast. I’ll try and be more precise. But I think the point is made none the less.
Ros-Lehtinen is a hack and a whore. Belzer’s comment was right on. There is a comment, “You can’t see the forest for the trees.”
