Handicapping II
More trouble for Hillary? Tony Blankley thinks so:
If Ms. Pirro can mount a campaign capable of gaining a reasonable amount of attention acting as an annoying mosquito day after day and month after month, it is likely to bring out the most unappealing imperial manners in Ms. Clinton — as Queen Hillary ignores or dismisses each of the charges.
As her 63 percent lead dwindles to a still respectable 57 percent or 56 percent or 55 percent next summer, she and her campaign advisers may suddenly feel the need to do something. She may take a liberal stand on a few issues to re-build enthusiasm in her base south of 96 Street. That may well save her re-election bid from embarrassment, but it would undercut her eight-year presidential strategy of pretending to be moderate.
Pirro is looking like a smarter and smarter choice – even though she’d probably lose.

Pirro does not have to lose to make HR into damaged goods. “Hillary Wins Senate Race in a Squeaker” will not be a good headline for those determined to send a/any democrat back to Pa. Avenue.
Actually – putting a socially liberal republican on the docket isnt necessarily a losing equation (look – we have a governor who is a ‘republican’ as well as a history of electing ‘republican’ mayors…)
She might win folks – its not impossible. Hillary would have lost to a republican if he hadnt needed to take time off for his health and well being… remember that.
Also – this will put her back in the (L) bracket no matter what happens…. either Liberal or Loser.
Wow – I sound bitter today.. sorry about that.
With my limited (read: foreigners) understanding of your wacky politics, Pirro doesn’t really stand a chance, but by gum she sounds like the best option.
Pete, you understand better than you let on. Extra points for the use of dadgum obsolete slang.
I’d like to know, for real, and be honest: Who’s afraid of Hillary Woolf?
In other words, describe to me a plausible scenario in which she could take the Presidency. Difficulty: the Repbulicans don’t run Pee Wee Herman against her.
Also bear in mind that if she’s even a mildly serious contender, it’s going to suck a lot of Democratic fundrasing into the race and away from other races. They (justifiably) thought that Hillary was a sure thing for re-election, but now they have to make sure if they don’t want a huge Dem defeat in NY to be the story.
It all sounds good and I hope like hell you’re all right, but I’m waiting to see what happens when the Clinton (politics of personal destruction, who me?)Smear Machine gets into gear.
That itch Ms. Pirro is feeling isn’t the starch in her panties. It’s a brigade of private eyes crawiling up her ass and into her life with a microscope and a blow torch.
Besides, this is Clinton’s last shot. If she doesn’t make it here, there’s no 2008. If she fails in 2008, there’s no 2012. So I’m willing to bet she’s ready to call in ALL the chits in the next two years.
The smear machine, along with a fawning media and her blind ambition, says caution to me and to not to get too excited, yet.
Plausible scenario: Hillary and her people execute a well-timed purge of the Howard Dean wing and thereby solidify her transformation into a “moderate”.
The Republicans still have no credible and electable candidate to beat her in ’08. And, strange as it may seem to us reasonable people, there may be as many folks who will show up at the polls just to vote _for_ her as there are who’d crawl 50 miles over broken glass and rusty nails to vote _against_ her.
Her ’06 campaign for Senate re-election seems to be our best chance to derail her. Here’s hoping it works.
HIllary is going to smoke Pirro. IF Pirro loses by less than 2o points, she should be happy. Hillary won big in 00 as a novice candidate who was outspent. Now, she’s an incumbent with more money, a high approval rating and a second tier opponent. DOn’t forget that the GOP in NY is in a full fledged meltdown. Spitzer will walk away with the Gov’s race and it looks like the GOP is forfeiting the AG’s race too, by having Pirro run here. She’s not a bad candidate under the circumstances, but she’s not even going to make this close.
I agree with Pozzo. Hillary doesn’t need to “dismiss each of the charges.” She can pretty much ignore them to her heart’s content, run a sunny positive campaign and coast to a big win unscathed.
It doesn’t have to work out that way, but it probably will.
byrd,
I agree HILLARY doesn’t have to defend herself, the MSM will do it for her. They are all ready beginning to surround Pirro like a pack of Coyotes. Wonder if HILLARY has any of those unscrubbed FBI files on Pirro?
Sammy,
Exactly what would Hillary have to defend herself against? The her husband’s old scandals? They didn’t hurt her last time when they were more recent news? Her voting record? The NY voters seem to like it? The only potential avenue for Pirro to attack seems to be Hillary’s presidential aspirations, but how much of a difference will that make? Plenty of people win elections to lesser office when its pretty clear they are seeking a higher one.
You people are delusional if you’re getting your directions from a person who serves at the behest of the already-crowned Messiah, Rev. Moon.
You Moonies ought to pay attention to some REAL journalists, not leftover partisan hack from Gingrich. Like Greg Smith, the NY Daily News’ fearless mob investigative reporter, who digs up the REAL story on Pirro and the mob:

Like Harris, another vacuous script reader, good luck…you will need it.
