As acceptance speeches go, that was mercifully short.
I’ll have a wrap-up later tonight. Or perhaps tomorrow, depending on how I feel about the rest of this Citron martini.

Mercifully short, and fell short. Lot on what’s wrong. Lot on what he would do differently. Nothing on how he would do it. This was a speech to the converted, not to the curious. I doubt it sways as much as a vote.
i’m getting really tired of hearing the album version of ‘beautiful day’. why can’t they play the perfecto remix to appeal to all those candy raver swing voters?
CNN — more balloons! more balloons! what are you guys doing up there?
Who watches CNN?
Show more of Edward’s daughter, for God’s sake!
In ’84, they hid Eleanor Mondale in the background and deservedly lost!
az — it’s all I can get in the hotel — it was a feed that was NOT meant to be heard
Short? At 46 minutes, it felt a little like forever to me.
I had to pee really bad.
So did I hear him correctly? Asthma is caused by Hair Pollution?
“No bounce, no play.” — Stephen King, Dreamcatcher.

Guess it is Edwards’ fault.
I’m also looking forward to him ‘doubling our special forces so we can conduct more terrorist operations.’ How freudian was that little slip?
Countrymen, Lend Me Your Ears
Compare (scroll down and down and down) and contrast. It’s almost like they were watching different speeches, isn’t it?…
Kerry speech links
The Command Post has the transcript up. Stephen is holding off on analysis till later. Glenn had Internet issues but his comments thread was great. Thanks Blogfaddah. Captain Ed was blogging live, too. Not surprising, Burnt Orange Reportthinks it was…
The speech won me over. Kerry made it plain and clear: If he’s elected, he is going to take money from rich people and give it to me. There was a list of stuff he’s going to get for me: health care, a good salary, and no more struggling for me in the middle class. Woo hoo! Now that’s what I call “help on the way”. I’m voting Kerry.
Yeah, doubling the Special Forces.
He sure knows his Vietnamese War history. Kennedy fell in love with the Green Berets, ordered McNamara to increase their numbers for Vietnam, and their quality promptly fell off, esp. in the technical cross-skill sets.
The dude’s (can a pussy still be a dude?) a poser. No wonder he’s accomplished nothing after 20 years in the Senate (although he’s pretty impressed with his healthcare package…).
The speech was everything he needed. I was there–it was electric. Kerry was better than I ever thought he could be. Up there in Blogger Alley, we were all clapping and cheering by the end. And we had read the speech hours before. Until we heard the delivery, it didn’t register as being that special. But, his delivery was perfect.
I know you don’t want to hear it, but Bush is toast.
Jeralyn
That speech both sucked and blowed.
Jeralyn,
The electricity clearly has put you in shock.
We forgive til you’ve recovered.
