Hide’n'Seek
An update to Saturday’s post:
Osama bin Laden’s whereabouts remain a mystery to U.S. and Pakistani forces as they crank up efforts to flush out al Qaeda and Taliban rebels hiding near Afghanistan’s eastern frontier, officials said on Monday.
U.S. military officials in Kabul have boldly predicted his capture in 2004, and Britain’s Sunday Express weekly reported that the world’s most wanted man was “boxed in” by U.S. and British special forces in the rugged Pakistani mountains along the Afghan border.
The newspaper said bin Laden was within a 10 mile by 10 mile area, being monitored by a U.S. spy satellite.
“As far as the reports of Osama bin Laden’s location, I don’t take much credence in them because if we knew where he was in Afghanistan, we would go get him and if the Pakistanis knew where he was in Pakistan they would go get him,” U.S. military spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Bryan Hilferty said.
The conspiracy nuts will tell we won’t catch him until much closer to Election Day.

Of course! Team Bush is just waiting for the democratic nominee to say the war on terror is failing because we have not caught Osama! The day after he says that is when we get Osama.
That is my tinfoil hat entry of the day.
Speaking of tinfoil entries, this is only semi-serious:
Only half of what LTC Hilferty said is wrong – If he was in Pakistan, Musharraf would be the one hiding him – not getting him – because as soon as we bag that bastard, we’re bugging out. Then there won’t be anyone left to protect him from assassination attempts…
(Yes, I know there are a buttload of coalition troops working OEF, but I believe they’re all up in Afghanistan trying to secure & fix the place)

I think Osama’s been as one with the earth for a long time now. Don’t think there’s much of him left to identify, but let’s get to his lair and find his valuable treasures like his hard drive and his Rolodex.
Heh, I personally hope that bin Laden’s alive. Every day we make his existence less and less relevant. A good part of his organization is incarcerated, dead, or dying. I want a true war of attrition before he’s caught, and when we catch him, he needs to be a truly beaten man. Kind of like the image of Saddam that we gave to the world, that was, as the commercial says, PRICELESS.
