Holy Absolut! Thanks for the link to my blog entry on the proposed 25% Porn Tax bill (HF 2242) in the Iowa Legislature.
Enjoy – and please spread the word. Those who sponsored this ridiculous legislation (weirdly enough, mostly Democrats) should be ashamed to have their name on it.
Slapping a 25% tax on a legal product or industry is an outrage even if it is porn. It’s even more cowardly since you know they’re going to hide behind morality when people rightfully call them out on this.
Judging from the mugshots, I’d say the Twinkie Tax would do a lot more good in iowa. Or at least public decency standards regarding haircuts and wardrobe. Argh.
By the looks of the women folk, none of them have seen the old cornstalk in a lot of years. They might want to make a visit to one of those stores before the tax is enacted.
But, but, but, . . . don’t we want to help crime victims? Shouldn’t these folks then *encourage* peoplbe to by porn, et al.? “Help a battered woman; buy porn” seems to be what they want. Just keep that semicolon in the slogan.

RE: The Price of Vice
Heck, if they can tax the heck out of tobacco and spiritis drink, why not tax other vices as well?
However, I do agree that one of the people sponsering this tax is something of a hypocrite, taxing porn and being opposed to taxing tobacco.
