Reader Scott Helg reminds us of some of the finest words spoken by the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a man who spoke many of them:

amen to that. “find me a better one.” i’ve been almost everywhere, for either work or pleasure, and i’d be damned if i had anywhere but here to come home to.
I won’t join the praise choir. Here is a man who talked the talked and limped. He opposed welfare rform and was in favor of every Big Government program that ever came down the pike. In NY if you wanted a history lecture you listened to this man, but if you needed your road fixed you went to Al Damato.
Save us from men like these.
