Morning Finds

Joe Katzman is, once again, doing his best to make me feel slow-witted and uninformed. The only other two people who can do that regularly are Steven Den Beste (Best. Blog. Ever.) and Eric Raymond.
Anyway, this morning Joe has new material on how to help Iran without getting caught, further thoughts on Gulf War II (any week now, says Steyn), and more on fixing what ails the Army. Read it.

The best thing we can do for the people of Iran is to conquer Iraq ASAP. The next best thing is to give them outside sources of information on what is going on in Iran, i.e., subsidize some Farsi-language satellite TV stations in Los Angeles so they’ll beam undecrypted, instead of encrypted, signals to Iran.
Arranging unstoppable cell phone commications in Iran, for use by the pending revolution, would also be a good idea when things get really lively. We shouldn’t do that immediately as the mullah regime hasn’t yet ceased cooperating with us (albeit half-heartedly) in the war on terror.
Tom, if we want to arrange those communications, we need to start now. And last I looked, things were getting pretty damn lively over there.
As for cooperation… Iran remains Hamas and Hizbollah’s major backer, continues to undermine Karzai’s government in Afghanistan, and Rumsfeld himself has said they’ve provided assistance to Al-Qaeda.
Perhaps this is some new definition of “cooperation” with which I was not previously acquainted. However, fair is fair. I’m happy to turn around and offer their evil theocracy all the cooperation we can muster… in the exact same spirit as the cooperation they so generously extend to us.
Joe,
The Iranian govt. is not monolithic. The ones which really hate us aren’t cooperating. The others are. And our major goal is Iraq. We can settle any scores with the mullahs after that.
