Brink Lindsey is with me — he can’t figure out “which side is more infuriating.” Always knew that guy was smart.
Go read his post. Oh, and buy his book, too.
I don’t know if he’s with you or not. Does he say that this “teensy stuff”? I think he’s bothered by the histrionics on both “sides” (a misnomer — I’m on the side of those who find the ruling sinister, but not because I believe that the invocation of God is necessary for instilling values), but I’m not sure that means he thinks the ruling is philosophically and legally unimportant, should it stand.
I (like you) hope it goes away quickly, because it is a distraction. But that doesn’t make it any less important.
Anyone looking for further proof of Brink’s brainpower, check out his two postings on Turgenev’s “Fathers and Sons.” Talk about breathing life into one of the classics!
