Bill Clinton's Own Warning About Fissile Material Being Used in Capitol Truck Campaign

This truck and another like it are circling around the U.S. Capitol this afternoon as debate has begun on the Iran nuclear deal.

They’re sponsored by StandWithUs, an international Israel education organization, and intend to “represent how little nuclear material it takes to cause severe destruction, quoting former president Bill Clinton.”

And while today’s appearance coincides with a rally on the Capitol lawn, the trucks will continue to circle the White House and Capitol on Thursday and Friday, which is the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

“This campaign continues to raise awareness of the dangers of a nuclear program, letting the public know how vulnerable the proposed deal would make the United States. Given the Middle East’s current instability, the rise of jihadist groups like ISIS, and Iran’s history of sponsoring terrorism, it is even more imperative that the American public and Congress do all they can to stop Iran from going nuclear,” said Roz Rothstein, CEO of StandWithUs, in a statement.

The Clinton quote comes from Sept. 25, 2012, when the former president told CNN’s Piers Morgan: “Even if the [Iranian] government didn’t directly sanction it, it would not be that much trouble to get a Girl Scout cookie’s worth of fissile material which, if put in the same fertilizer bomb Timothy McVeigh used in Oklahoma City, is enough to take out 20% to 25% of Washington D.C. — Just that little bit.”
