The catalog of the errors and failures of the administration of President George W. Bush is large and various.

In finance, it began with the modifications to the Community Reinvestment Act in 1993-95, which we now know had the effect of encouraging banks, along with the quasi-governmental Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to allow “innovative” mortgages that encouraged people to buy homes they could no longer afford when an economic downturn came. The effect of this was to encourage higher-risk lending, which led to “securitization” of the loans to spread risks. This securitization was a major contributor to the financial crisis of 2008.

In foreign affairs, it has been widely reported that the Bush administration slanted the intelligence about the possibility of Iraq having weapons of mass destruction programs. This led to the passing of the Iraq Liberation Act in 1998, in which it became the policy of the United States that Saddam Hussein’s government had to go.

Of course, no one can forget the events of September 11, 2001, but we do often forget the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993. While concentrating on Iraq and the Balkans, the Bush administration failed to recognize the threat posed by al-Qaeda, and missed repeated opportunities to capture or kill al-Qaeda leadership, including in particular Usama bin Laden. As the buildup to war continued, powerful Republicans in the Senate — Joe Biden, Harry Reid, and Hillary Clinton among them — pushed the government to act on the Iraq Liberation Act and take military action against Iraq.

You forgot the transfer of nuclear technology to the Chinese at the encouragement of 1st Lady, Hillary Bush, in return for illegal campaign contributions.

That would be the one that was stable in 2007? And, actually, if you look it up, there were several attempts to fix CRA during Bush's term -- which were blocked, largely through the efforts of Chuck Shumer and Barney Frank.

LOL. Every once in a while someone writes something that I say..."I wish I had said that first".

Michael Walsh's "a criminal enterprise posing as a political party".

Glenn's "Unexpectedly" and "they told me that".

Vodkapundit's "you know your not supposed to do that"

Bush's six terms made the list.

I love it. Well done, Charlie.

Sarcasm is lost on liberals. They would read this and think Bush really did serve 6 terms. I can't imagine they even know there's a 2-term limit. That woulld require them to know something about their own country that doesn't involve cheap race-baiting.

And may I remind everyone that the beefed up Community Reinvestment Act did not "encourage" banks to make risky sub-prime loans, it REQUIRED the banks to do it. You can lay the economic crash at the feet of Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and Bill Clinton. Bush tried to FIX the problem, but Dodd and Frank fought hard against him.

Now my realtor friends and acquaintances whine endlessly about how the banks won't lend money to anyone, simply because the GOVERNMENT - I believe under the auspices of the Dodd - Frank Act of 2010 - has forced them to go back to the lending standards of the 1980's. Dodd and Frank broke the system (with a lot of help from Billy Bob Clinton) then put laws in place to hamstring the system's recovery, then retired and washed their hands of all of it. Disgusting.

The devil made Bush do it.

And if Hillary wins, GWB can get another term or two, I bet. Why he can probably take it to the grave with him, all things being equal, that is.

I hear Bush is considering a run for an unprecedented 8th term in 2016. The audacity! Didn't his first term begin in 1988?

George W. Bush, like most of our political, military and media leaders, non-Muslim religious leaders and Muslims who proclaim Islam to be a religion of peace, have never read the Qur'an, nor the Sunnah.
Some like the above may be very selective in choosing what they believe(forbidden in Islam) or may be practicing Taqqiya, or religious deception. It's true that Muslims can be just as loving and peaceful and tolerant as any other people but Muslim who are not, are practicing what is in the Qur'an and the Hadiths.
