Senate Democrat: On Second Thought, Let's Delay Obamacare's Enrollment Deadline

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) just admitted that Obamacare sucks.

Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is calling on the White House to extend Obamacare’s open enrollment period amid continued frustration with the troubled HealthCare.gov.

“The difficulty that people in New Hampshire and in other states that are relying on the federally facilitated marketplaces are experiencing is incredibly frustrating and disappointing,” Shaheen wrote in a letter to President Barack Obama. “For over three years, we have been waiting for the creation of the health insurance exchanges, which now in their fourth week of existence, are riddled with problems.”

She is also asking the administration to clarify whether Americans will get fined for not getting insurance when the site is not working properly.

This makes Shaheen the first Senate Democrat to break ranks and call for an Obamacare delay. Republican Marco Rubio has also called for a delay in the individual mandate, but that strikes me as counterproductive. The Democrats wanted their law so badly that they bent the rules and eschewed ethics to pass it. They lied and bought and sold each other to pass it. They insisted so strongly that it should begin October 1 that they shut the government down over it.

Now, let them explain to the American people why they did all that, just to build a website that doesn’t work to push a policy that is costing many Americans their healthcare. Let them own it all of next year.
