It’s sad that this even has to be said, but it does have to be said: Standing up and cheering on a mob, derailing the legislative process in order to defend late-term abortion (or anything else) on behalf of a powerful corporation, is not a heroic act. It is not “special,” to quote Barack Obama. It is sick.

That’s not just my opinion, by the way, it’s the opinion of a Democrat who worked in the Clinton White House. More about her later.

After state Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Ft. Worth) derailed the legislative process in order to defend Planned Parenthood from sensible regulation Tuesday night, the Texas Democrats think they have a new champion and gifts are flowing Davis’ way from all over the country.

davis-gifts

The first objection to this post from Davis’ defenders will be my gender. I’m a man, therefore I’m not allowed to have an opinion on abortion. Because I’m a Republican and a Christian, my thoughts are void as well. Three strikes, I’m out.

Fine.

Let’s hear what a woman and Democrat has to say about Davis. Kirsten Powers, a former Clinton administration official who worked directly for then-First Lady Hillary Clinton, posted about Davis Thursday night on Facebook:

Something is deeply wrong w/a country where a person fighting for abortions of 20+ wk old babies is a ‘hero.’

Earlier in the day on Fox, Powers described President Obama’s public support for Davis as “sick.” In her Facebook post, Powers linked to this story, in which the Washington Post filters through some of the positive things that many are saying about Davis after Tuesday’s action thrust her into the spotlight.

What the Post isn’t telling its readers: the bill Davis aborted, Senate Bill 5, not only enjoys strong majority support in Texas (62%) among both men and women, it was written to protect women from unscrupulous butchers like Kermit Gosnell.

Since the mainstream media declined to cover Gosnell’s trial in any detail, it’s not surprising if most people don’t know about him. The short version of his case: for about 17 years, the state of Pennsylvania refused to inspect his Philadelphia abortion clinic. That absence of oversight allowed heinous abuse to go unchecked for years. Gosnell and his staff, which included some who had no medical training at all, killed babies born alive after he botched their abortions. One baby was so large that Gosnell joked that it could walk home. Women were mutilated and died at his bloody hands in his filthy clinic, in which he kept body parts of aborted babies as souvenirs.

Gosnell was convicted and is now spending the rest of his life in prison. The world only learned of Gosnell because a courageous woman, Marcella Stanley Cheung, outed him. If not for her, Gosnell would still be running his charnel house today. In fact, Pennsylvania took no action for years even after Cheung came forward. Politics got in way of sensible regulation, and cost some women their lives.

Planned Parenthood has distanced itself from him, but during those 17 years, it referred late-term abortion patients to him from all over the eastern seaboard. Planned Parenthood knew of the rumors about his practice and chose to turn a blind eye to them.

Some may object by saying Gosnell was an aberration. He wouldn’t get away with that in Texas.

Wrong.

Three informants, all women, say that Dr. Douglas Karpen is Texas’ version of Dr. Kermit Gosnell. The mainstream media is every bit as interested in that case as it was in Gosnell. Which is to say they’re not interested at all.

Nonsense. Abortion is the fundamental evil supporting modern liberals. Gosnell has this to do with Wendy Davis, that he didn't give a damn about either the babies he killed or the women he killed or hurt. He got away with it because no one carried out the required inspections or, if they did, reported what they found. Wendy Davis supports the laxness that allowed Gosnell to flourish, babies to die and women to be damaged and killed.

Women vote for the libs because they, like you, don't follow this issue closely enough to know what it's about. Hence when lied to, they're too ignorant to recognize that they're being lied to and they follow along like idiot sheep.

"Sorry, but what does Gosnell have to do with Wendy Davis?"

A lot. Davis represents how sacred a cow abortion is for the left. Gosnell represents how that cow is protected although women, not just babies, are murdered by sloppy, money hungry abortionists.

" Is Davis an abortion doc?"

No, she is the child of a single mother who also had a child when she was 19. Inspite of her hardships growing up in a single parent household, and becoming a parent herself at a young age, she managed to go to college (Texas Christian, how's that for humor) and get a law degree at Harvard. Her mother damn sure couldn't afford to pay for that education. If anything, Wendy Davis is representative of how ALL children have a future.

"You want to suffer in the minority for forever?"

Yes, if it means that I have to support the slaughter of the unborn child to be in the majority.

Has anyone checked out the bonafides of the protestors? The more I read, the more I suspect that they were paid protestors that were bused in for Davis' drama. My hotel, 2 blocks from the Capital, was over run by a bunch of rude obnoxious out of staters that morning. One of my techs tried to start a conversation with a couple in the lobby, but only got as far as learning that they weren't tourists, checking out the music/arts scene or any of the other usual reasons folks come to Austin. It didn't click on me who they might be until I read comments about the disorderly protestors later.

I think Planned Parenthood and Wendy Davis and her feminist ilk get away with their tyranny because abortion is something many people simply cannot allow themselves to think about except in the abstract. When Roe v Wade was shoved down our throats in the early '70s it was at a time when "liberation" was in the air - it was liberate this, liberate that, to liberate was seen in a very positive light by most people and if liberating women meant allowing them to "terminate their pregnancies" (a much easier term to swallow than "abort their babies") then it was just part of the move forward. Since that time the hard left has dug in and refused to budge on this issue, even though many other women are starting to re-examine what abortion truly is, because if they give a bit - even a tiny bit - they fear the rest of their shabby edifice will also be vulnerable. That is why we cannot let up. People have HAD to look at the horror that abortion is, thanks to the Gosnell monster, and the conservative culture should keep with it until it is understood for the soul-killing social evil that it is.

Might this cause one to conclude that Senator Wendy Davis is the Left’s next “Sandra Fluke” styled heroine? If so, Sen. Davis may want to reflect on the reality that Sandra seems to have departed the stage, her moment in “the sun” done and become just another small blip of yesterdays news.

Time for the Right to deliver the same passion for saving life as these butchers from Left do in taking it. Loudly.

I've debated these 'Turn Texas Blue' women and they're the most vicious, remorseless, cold blooded devils on the planet. They are driven by lusts for power and self interests. Most are misandrists, sociopathic and hard core feminists who have no use for men.

Every time Wendy Davis is marketed as hero by the butchers, she should be met with an equally passionate response that she is a demon from hell.

Because Wendy Davis is Joseph Goebbels without the sufficient stroke yet - softened by the media with the platinum blonde and pink tennis shoes. She's wicked to the core.

Amen, Brother! I wish there was a catchier phrase for calling them what they are - baby killers.

Wendy Davis is advocating for evil. If you support doing evil things you will think she's a hero. The left -- which includes the old media, Hollywood and academia -- calls here a hero so . . . .

The thing to do is to stop letting the left set the definitions as to good and bad and right and wrong.

Killing babies is wrong. Saying the the start of life is objectively undefinable is anti-reason. We have to start setting the terms ourselves which means going back and crushing any claim that truth or morality is a relative idea decided by the individual.

The bill would regulate improvements in women's health care facitilities, thus protecting women's health.

And it would also protect viable life updated for current realities, the standard of Roe v Wade.

Oh well, guess all that talk about being for women's health is just a smokescreen. Who knew?

It's grotesquely unfortunate, but the tactics, the thinking, the callousness, all come straight from the Brownshirts. These phonies don't want democracy or freedom; they want total power for themselves, and abortion saps the moral strength of the country to stand up to them.

Imagine if unrestricted abortion had been available in 1961.

What exactly is the deal with SB5? It was drafted to protect the health of women from a Gosnell, but while they were at it Texan legislators figured they would add the late-term prohibition? Or was it drafted to prevent all the horrors of a Gosnell, including dead women and dead viable babies? Just curious.
