While I am not not happy with the direction this debate has taken and I'm not happy that Rubio is playing the part that he is, in my mind there IS a difference between granting "legal status" and amnesty. As it relates to immigration, amnesty is the term used for granting automatic citizenship to resident aliens, who are in the United States illegally. Granting "legal status" as it relates to the the current prosal is something quite different. Don't get me wrong, I have some serious reservations about granting legal status and I'm completely opposed to amnesty but I think it is unfair to use the terms interchangeably when referring to Rubio's possition. I have never heard him state that he is in favor of amnesty, quite the contrary. What he has stated consistently is that he opposes any form of amnesty and the current system is a defacto form of amnesty. Following that logic it is reasonable for him to try to reform the current system. Granted, without complete border security all the reforms in the world will be like "pissing in the wind".

All this talk about how these newly minted Americans will be paying taxes, participating in IRS tax returns, getting off of government assistance programs, etc, etc, etc, are pure lies.
A 2013 survey of ALL small businesses reveals the following data:
Small Business Association (Pres./CEO-Todd McCraken)
2013 Workforce and Immigration Survey
Immigrant Workers
1)Of all small businesses in the USA only 17% employ immigrant workers. (So, of 11 million illegal aliens, only 1,870,000 are or will be employed-the remaining will continue on government assistance programs)
2) 50% of this universe rely upon highly qualified workers with a STEM background (STEM Jobs Act-H.R6429).
3)Of these businesses, all agreed a new visa category ought to be created for SKILLED immigrant workers.
4)A very small percentage would support requiring employers comply with some kind of E-Verify system.
5) 76% of respondents do not use current system or have even heard of it.
6)Of this universe, if penalties of $75,000 and 10 years in prison were enforced, little or no support for this program would be forthcoming.
Workforce preparedness
1)1/3 of small businesses in the USA say both quality and education in general of current workforce is not meeting their needs. (So, newly minted US citizens WOULD have to read, write and speak english to get a job)
2) 92% of small businesses say they offer some kind of additional training to employees.
3) 32% offer money to employees for continuing education or certification programs.
Hiring Procedures
1)43% of small-business respondents reported conducting criminal background checks on all prospective employees.
2)80% said they put new employees to work within one week of being hired.
These are FACTS!!!! We The Elite People of culture of corruption in all of Washington DC are liars, greedy liars, power hungry liars and out-and-out corrupt liars. Say NO to this Amnesty Bill. Deport all illegal Aliens NOW even "Dreamers!" Enforce the Laws on the books AND build the fences. Rule of Law. God Bless America.Pray Amen.

What happened?

You didn't listen to him. He sounded pretty good and you jumped on his bandwagon.

See, those wretched "purists" are not surprised by him supporting amnesty. They have been saying all along that he's not the real deal.

What idiots they are!

UPDATE: Rubio voted against the Democrats' successful effort to kill Sen. Cornyn's security amendment. The pressure may already be working.

Only to the extent that his vote wasn't required to vote the thing down. If it had been close, he would have toed the G8 line.

So it's an imposter on TV and not Sen. Rubio!!! Liberals are secretly laughing that Republicans (or imposters thereof) are out front on an issue that, if passed, will guarantee that Democrats control Washington. . . mmmm, probably for many generations to come.
