Attorney General Eric Holder said this under oath before Congress on May 15:
“In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material — this is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy.”
But NBC reported this last week:
Holder personally approved a search warrant that labeled Fox News chief Washington correspondent James Rosen a co-conspirator in a national security leaks case.
Both of those things cannot be true. Now the House Judiciary Committee has launched a formal investigation. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) has joined calls for Holder to resign. Those calls are now bipartisan, and include us and the Huffington Post among many others.
Congress has already held Holder in contempt for refusing to turn over Fast and Furious documents. President Obama has not only kept Holder on the job, he covered Holder’s Fast and Furious refusal by invoking executive privilege.
