The College of Cardinals have announced that Cardinal Jorge Maria Bergoglio has succeeded Benedict XVI as the new pope. Bergoglio is 76 years old, and has been a cardinal for 16 years. He is the first Latin American pope. He has chosen the name Pope Francis.

No sooner had the announcement gone out, than Pope Francis’ Wikipedia page got an update.

The new Pope may be Argentinian by nationality but both his parents are Italian immigrants. The new Pope is an European as the last Pope.

At 76 years of age, I suspect the cardinals will be meeting to elect Pope Francis' successor in just a few years.

I feel sure Mecca will enact some analogy to this about the time the sun bursts into a million shards and destroys our planet. Or maybe when America and the UK has sunk so low from Third World immigration, the Turks will simply come back and take up where they left off in 1918. Prepare the slave pens - diversity is on the march.

Dont fret, Argentina is the biologically whitest of the South American nations and probably has the largest diaspora of ethnic Italians outside of the northeastern U.S. There's an old saying that Argentinians are Italians who speak Spanish but act French and wish they were Englishmen. They probably figured they'd split the difference on this one.
