In the aftermath of the Newtown, Conn., school shootings, and as Vice President Joe Biden leads a federal task force that will recommend ways to curb gun violence in the U.S., 38% of Americans are dissatisfied with the nation’s gun laws and want them strengthened. This is up from 25% who held this set of views a year ago, and is the highest since 2001. Still, more Americans are either satisfied with current gun laws, 43%, or think they should be loosened, 5%.
If this is as much poll movement as the gun-grabbers can generate after weeks of shrieking, I think we’re safe.

When I was 20, I drank half a bottle of vodka, puked all over my bedroom floor, and passed on on my bed. My mom cried, my dad almost killed me.
The very next day, while I was enjoying my very first hangover, a Gallup pollster asked me how I felt about drinking. I told him I was 100% in favor of prohibition. Then I threw up on his shoes.
Whatever else you did today, you made me laugh out loud.
I think anyone who doesn’t support gun control ought to be shot.

“And we could solve the gun problem by shooting all gun owners.”
It doesn’t matter what the people think. The Democrats have already established that.
They & the press (but I repeat myself) will tell the people what to think.
I appreciate your point, but never think we’re safe. These are the same people that forced Obamacare down our throats over clear, vocal public opposition. They have no interest in representing us, only in carrying on their agenda.
Polls don’t make the nation safer from elected misrepresentatives in Congress.
I don’t know if it makes us safe, but hopefully it means that if they push this thing as hard as they’re saying they’re going to that come January 2015 there are an awful lot of former Democratic members of congress looking for new jobs.
My personal hope for this whole thing is that they push this hard in congress, then fail to get it through the house, or the Senate filibuster. They generate a lot of coverage of it and a few “pro-gun” Democrats have a chance to come out as who they really are. Then they get raped in 2014 with exit polls showing their gun control push a major reason. After that they’ll be terrified of touching it again for another decade or so. The math hasn’t changed no mater how hard the media tries to pimp the bodies of those children, the fact remains that there are almost no anti-gun Republicans, and a lot of Pro-gun Democrats. The only people who can afford to push gun control and get away with it are those from districts with a permanent >20% Democratic majority that can afford to throw away votes, people like Pelosi or Feinstein, or big city mayors, and of course now Obama since he no longer has to face the voters. Congressional democrats were already willing to make one suicide run for Obamacare, and that was when they had a gross excess of votes, a freaking supermajority! This time they don’t have the votes and I hope they remember that Obamacare cost a lot of house Democrats their seats, and any gun control bill will make Obamacare look popular. My fear is that Obama will do something rabidly illegal by executive order and trigger god only knows what.
If Obama issues executive orders on gun control I hope the House zeros out BATFE’s budget and forbids Justice from spending any new money on enforcing the orders.
For the moment, maybe. We’re NEVER really safe as long as there’s liberals around.
