While Joe Biden sits down with 2nd-Amendment advocates today, several gun retailers have agreed to meet with Attorney General Eric Holder.
According to the DOJ, the businesses are meeting with Holder “as part of the ongoing gun violence sessions being held at the White House by Vice President Biden.”
Those who agreed to attend are Academy Sports + Outdoors, Bass Pro Shops, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Cabela’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dunham’s Sports, Gander Mountain, Sportsman’s Warehouse, and Wal-Mart.
The National Retail Federation may also be in attendance at the 3:15 p.m. sit-down.
At 11:45 a.m., Biden began meeting with sporting groups: the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, BlueWater Strategies, Bull Moose Sportsmen’s Alliance Action Fund, Ducks Unlimited, Outdoor Industry Association, Pheasants Forever, Teddy Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, and the Wildlife Management Institute.
At 1:45 p.m. comes the meeting with gun-owner groups: Defense Small Arms Advisory Council (DSAAC.), Firearms Import/Export Roundtable, Independent Firearm Owners Association (IFoA), National Rifle Association of America, National Shooting Sports Foundation, and the National Association of Arms Shows.
At 6 p.m. Biden meets with representatives from the entertainment industry: Branded Entertainment, Comcast Corporation, Directors Guild of America, Film & Television Alliance, Motion Picture Association of America, National Association of Broadcasters, National Association of Theatre Owners, and the National Cable and Telecommunications Association.

I get the feeling these guys are getting ready to play the role in gun control that the insurance industry played in Obamacare. We should probably start getting ready to boycott them and get our hardware exclusively from locally owned places.
I hope these shops and organizations understand that they’re flirting with a massive boycott if they do anything except tell Biden to stuff his gun control plan where the sun don’t shine.
I never purchase any of my weapons (or sporting supplies) from the overpriced retailers listed… In fact, other than Walmart, I never frequent any of the overpriced retailers listed… I think it will stay that way and I’ll trade out my Walmart run for our local Fleet Farm store.
Academy or Bass or Cabelas–I forget which–already have taken the Mini-14 off their site. I think they all need to be watched, and boycotted if necessary.
And it probably will need to be so.
Meanwhile, remember, it is a sin against man and God not to give Sandra Fluke free birth control, or for states to do anything adverse to the interest and desires of illegal aliens.

The problem the big guys will have to weigh is the threat of boycotts, and the consequences of them, against the threat by the Holder to push the legal concepts of retailer, or even personal, in regards to management) liability, and the consequences of having address them, for the sale of the ‘dangerous’ weapons.
Of course, liability might not the assault weapon used on the retailers. It might just be a cluster bomb of regulatory red tape which will upset the otherwise smooth running operation of recalcitrant businesses.
That is the reason they are meeting with Holder and not Biden.
So, I just don’t know whether ordinary, reasonable measures of persuasion can win out over the zealotry of fundamental transformation.
You make valid points but I don’t think that changes anything. They can cooperate with the administration to save their own skins but don’t have to help them do it. If they work to undermine our rights they don’t get one more cent from me.
Someone needs to remind these guys how well the Feds did their jobs during Fast and Furious when dealers were flagging illegal sales and the Feds sent them through anyway.

Here’s an example of one letter at the blog link above:
1.Dear Walmart Corporate Staff,
2.I am writing as a loyal customer, voter, and firearm safety instructor. I am disappointed in your participation in the Joe Biden “Gun Control” meetings. If Walmart choses to make a BUSINESS decision to refrain from selling firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories in Walmart stores, I won’t like it but I will understand and support it. If Walmart choses to participate in a political carnival for the purpose of restricting the rights of people who have done nothing wrong, then I will go out of my way to never patronize your stores again.
3.Let me repeat: I understand and support Walmart performing business related due diligence regarding what products should be offered for sale in Walmart stores. However, I will happily and willingly pay more money to shop elsewhere (and spread the word that I am doing so to anyone who will listen) if Walmart participates in restricting my rights as an American citizen.
4.Please concentrate your efforts on business decisions, not appeasing Washington policy makers who seek to criminalize exercising our Constitutional rights.
5.Thank you for your time.
These hearings are all for show. Just like the health care bill and the “fiscal cliff” bill, the “gun control” bill was written and waiting for a suitable “incident” to trigger this action.
I guarantee that the hearings have generated all the sound bites that Obama needs to justify what they’ve already written up.
Hopefully, the Republicans and gun-friendly Democrats grow a spine and refuse to go along with this abrogation of the Second Amendment.
As for Obama’s and Biden’s statement that “If it saves even one life, it’s worth it”. That is plain and simple BS. Taking defensive weapons out of the hands of law-abiding citizens will result in deaths directly attributable to the lack of those weapons. Obama will have the blood of those victims on his hands. Not that he cares.
