An observation from the culture, or pertinence to the above–I recently went to an NFL game. A few things. First, for the NFL: I am not interested in being a black man. I have no problems with those who are but I personally neither have the interest nor the ability to pull it off, nor do I think swagger and taunting opponents a good thing for society. I note our President does.
I am sorry vigorous but manfully reserved behavior is quickly becoming a thing of the past. It only built the largest economy in the history of man, won World War II, and sent us to the moon. Other than that, its worthless. We expect no one to aspire to be a gentleman of robust pragmatism and modest Midwest refinement, but either hipster douchebag trendy, sipping wine, or lower middle class with a goatee, “keepin’ it real”. No thanks.
Second–now, it was true that it was “Fan Appreciation Day”, but the fact is that the amount of free stuff handed out, with no drama or buildup to the announcements, as well as the fact that the car giveaway had absolutely no element of skill involved, explained to me all too well our politics in this present day. Bread and Circuses.
Basically, I fully understand I am not part of the New American culture. I have no desire to be, for I do not think it one suitable for anything but times of easy prosperity, or for being an employee.
