Iran’s Biological Weapons
My friend Reza Kahlili reports that the Iranians have developed some new biological weapons they plan to use against us at the appropriate moment. You’ll recall that Reza was an officer in the Revolutionary Guards Corps, where he worked as a CIA agent. I always take his work seriously, and you should too.
No form of WMD frightens me as much as biologicals. Germs exist, epidemics can kill a lot of people, and there are ways to spread them. The Soviets worked very hard on such weapons, especially on anthrax, and according to Reza’s source, the Russians, along with those ghoulish North Koreans, have been helping Iran prepare its biological arsenal.
Yes, I think there should be hearings. And yes, if the information is accurate, I believe that action should be taken against the labs and stockpiles.
I have only one quibble with the story as Reza’s source tells it. He talks about various high-tech ways of spreading plague, etcetera. Those methods range from infecting insects to spraying the stuff on us from the air. Maybe they are preparing those things. But there’s an easier way: infect a few people, and let them wander around crowded areas like airports, movie theaters, subway stations and trains, and the like. A few coughs and sneezes, and voila!
It’s a proven method. The Spaniards did it to the Neapolitans in the 17th century and wiped out half the population of Naples. You can read about it here.
Damn right it’s serious. Deadly serious.

But…but…Obama is extending the open hand of friendship!
There has to be some underlying moral of such stories. I can remember some limited experience and family members relating the times when the Arabs were a friendly sort and tourism thrived from even the U.S. I can remember when Iranians come to the U.S. in droves to study at our higher education institutions. What happened and why?
You’re kidding, right?
Of course I’m serious! They use to not hate us or at least not to current levels, throughout the Arab Muslim region. Can you explain what happened and why?
They found their “religion”.
They’ve always had their religion. Always been a division among their religious sects. So, “they found their religion” hardly addresses the geopolitical shift of hate level they have for the U.S. today, even taking into account the long U.S. alliance with Israel. There is an answer, but it evidently is not going to come from this thread.
I had an Iranian student decades ago who liked me because I helped him with his writing and I wore modest clothes and was not a vulgar American, in his view. He told me those Iranians who had worked against the Shah would someday carry out plans to take us over. No one was talking about it then, at least not on the news. I surely was not the only teacher who heard these stories?
One might also want to read “The Hot Zone” by R. Preston, when, as memory serves, Ebola was almost allowed to escape labs near Washington by the “authorities”.
Smallpox is extraordinarily contagious and a horrifying disease but only the US and the Russians have any stocks of that left existing. Of course while any bio agent can be “weaponized” making it immune to the usual vectors of suppression, I believe, however, that weaponization can leave clues as to said operational origins. It might be nice if the idea were dropped at some diplomatic cocktail parties that in the event of such an occurrence any suspect countries directly involved or host of same would find themselves turned into a cinder that would glow in the dark for the next 50,000 years.
But there are bio agents that can be very hurtful but more difficult to justify a counter strike e.g. hoof and mouth disease. This disease is highly contagious and requires draconian domestic responses, witness the outbreak in the UK some years ago.
A years ago a friend of mine in California told me that some agencies were looking into the possibility of an anthrax attack on the state’s cattle. He said that one of the problems was what to do with the bodies of animals that had died of the disease and were laying in the field. “Burning?” I suggested. “No,” he said they didn’t want to do anything that would hurt the environment. An eye rolling moment until you remember that when West Nile Virus was identified in the US in 1999 there was a possibility, so I read anyway, that it could have been contained or eliminated if all the birds and mosquitoes within a large circle of the prime vector were destroyed and you know how that turned out. Could it have been accomplished, well, it certainly was accomplished in Brazil as far as mosquito vectored malaria in the 1930.
These are just bits and pieces I’ve picked up over the years, can anyone respond with better information?
Crank up the negative news. IRAN HAS OIL AND WE WANT IT.
Remember when Iraq had WMD? That’s right, they didn’t either.
Tell the Kurds that Saddam had no WMD.
Hell, since you knew THEN he had none, you should have told Saddam’s generals. They were begging for him to give the order…
The formation of the State of Israel is a significant catalyst.
And I believe the creation of Israel was the right thing to do at the time, given the holocaust, and the fact the world largely turned their back on the Jews plight in Europe.
But, the establishment of Israel, in the middle of the middle eastern Umma, is the basis for taody’s simmering problems. Add to that the Arabs inability to destroy Israel after several wars. The arabs/muslims have an itch they haven’t been able to scratch. It drives them crazy!
Israel’s involvement is only as the target for their grievances, it’s not the cause. The cause is a religion and political philosophy that renders the Arab world poor, ignorant, and angry, and violent. If Israel were a poor backwater in comparison, its existence wouldn’t bother the Arabs at all.
It appears that something is going on when you have meningitis outbreaks throughout the US and the company involved blamed the clean-up crew? Are these clean-up crews Iranians passing themselves off as Mexicans. These people speak Spanish fluently, and the narrow minded agents at the border can’t tell one from another. We live in a complaisant country where everything is a joke or non-existing. How many twin towers must fall before this country wakes up?
Yes, Louis, we seem to think everything is a television skit these days. You say “we live in a complaisant country where everything is a joke or non-existing”. Well put.
