Well, here it comes. The Second Amendment, which is our national policy on guns, is about to come under sustained assault.
Or, maybe not. President Obama is announcing today that he is launching a new gun control task force. But he is placing Vice President Joe Biden atop it.
The last time Obama tasked the irresponsible and bombastic Biden with a specific job, it was to watch stimulus spending as the nation’s “sheriff.”
Sheriff Joe promptly laid down on the job, and according to a Washington Guardian investigation, no one was really minding where the stimulus dollars went and billions were wasted.
Here’s to hoping Sheriff Joe’s performance on gun control will be similarly vigilant. Appointing Biden to head up this task force may, in fact, be Obama’s attempt to look like he’s acting while, in reality, he isn’t. We’ll see.
The facts we’ve learned since Friday’s horrific killings point less toward gun control as a solution and more toward mental health. The shooter was known for being reclusive, as is typical of those who suffer from autism, but was not known for being violent, which is also typical of autism. The shooter’s mental state was apparently deteriorating in the months leading up to his heinous actions. His mother was reportedly working to have him involuntarily committed. It may have been his fear of being committed that caused him to snap and go on his rampage.
The firearms that he used were all legal. The Bushmaster rifle that his mother owned would not have been banned in the “assault weapons” ban that expired in 2004 and some are attempting to revive. The term, “assault weapon,” is itself primarily cosmetic. Actual automatic weapons have been banned from civilian ownership since 1934.
It may be that no policy short of total firearm confiscation could have prevented Friday’s tragedy, just as forced institutionalization of the mentally ill might have been the only mental health policy that could have prevented it. Neither of those policies is acceptable in a free society.
Considering how many times “Uncle Joe” Biden shoots himself in the foot via shooting off at the mouth, I think he may be the best person for the job. After all, he’s the Barney Fife of the political world, always fumbling for the bullet in his pocket. If the media would allow it, he woud be more of a national laughing stock than he is. But they won’t. Meanwhile, Sarah Paln is considered stupid and free to be mocked.
And once again, they’re missing the cause of the problem. The guy didn’t kill his mother and 26 innocent people at the school because of the guns. He killed those innocent people because he was mentally ill, just like the guy who shot Congresswoman Giffords and the guy who killed all those students at Virgina Tech and most, if not all, other mass shootings.
Addressing the issue of people who’re mentally ill and pose a danger to others while preventing the abuses of the past is a serious and difficult issue. But hey, let’s write yet another law controlling inanimate objects instead to say we’re doing something. That approach has worked so well in the past, hasn’t it?
Einstein said that one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome. By that definition, I suppose those advocating yet more gun control are insane which might explain why they don’t want to address the issue of mental illness.
Just so you know Connecticut has a California style “assault weapon” ban. Which shows the futility in such measures, that only help to shift the balance of power, to those intent on doing harm.
Obama would have had to look long and hard to find someone even less qualified to make policy on anything than Biden. Hopefully Congress will stand firm against whatever lunacy that nutbag presents.
Let’s see…a new panel, headed up by Veep Biden (Democrat), having this Administration’s cabinet members, local Newtown townspeople, MSM, DNC, Black Caucus,(Teyvon Martin case) and every Hollywood elite involved in this effort to “shovel ready” Gun Control Legislation. Hmmm! ALL Democrats. Already politicized.
See, what’s interesting about this “Gun Control” effort is no bipartisan conferees, NRA are invited or even present in this discussion or at the table. Everything is being articulated (masterfully, by “fraud-in-chief”) to ram-rod thru some form of severe weapons restrictions totally unconstitutional and surely to face challenges in the Supreme Court.
Is there proof of this “masterful fraud” taking place? Let’s look at the proof!

A newly formed group of citizens (please! remember “bottom Up”), “Newtown United,” from the town of Newtown, CT, site of Friday’s school shooting, met with (hastily) US House of Representatives in Washington DC Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi (Democrat) her staff, Valerie Jarrett(D), and others of Obama’s cabinet staff (ALL Democrats)to discuss Gun Control – Tuesday December 18th. Seems like the meeting (all Democrats) was pre-planned and organized by Obama’s Cabinet members. Included in this meeting were all of the “Brady Bunch,” (Democrats) too.Question: who paid the airfare????
Probably took place in one of the House of Representatives conference rooms…wonder if it was taped and minutes were kept?

are now either cancelled, off web sites or in the process of “studying.” Gun Show in New Castle, NY (scheduled for January 2013, after a ten year hiatus due to Columbine) has been permanently cancelled -to Clark Howards extreme delight.
Two key players are emerging (among others) in this Kabuki theatre of random acts of shredding the US Constitution:
Paul Wilson, Newtown spokesperson calling and meeting with Pelosi and Jarrett and a Mr. Andre Nikitchuk also of Newtown, CT. These two, emerged from the weekend’s townhall meeting where some nine or ten individuals met and were united in one voice to undo everything their forefathers fought so valiantly for, giving their lives to have this US Constitution.
Now, partisan politics is working overtime to destroy and shred Americas only guarantee of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As the bible teaches us: O Lord, protect those for they know not what they do. Pray. Amen.

Wonder if the dems are drumming this issue right now in the hopes of getting a lot of campaign contributions in the future?
If that is the case, then it would be in their interests to keep the issue hang-firing without really accomplishing anything in order to milk the rubes of as many contributions as possible.
Doesn’t mean they won’t pass a law if they get the chance, and that’s not the way to bet, it’s just that they may be more interested in keeping hysteria drummed up than in actually doing anything.
