Illinois Democrat State Sen. Donne Trotter joins a long list of leftists who live by a simple rule: Guns for me, but not for thee.
Despite prosecutors charging him for allegedly trying to bring a gun onto an aircraft at O’Hare Airport, the South Side Democrat once voted against allowing Illinoisans to carry concealed weapons.
Trotter later voted “present” on another measure that would have softened the penalty for getting caught with a concealed weapon.
His arrest brings the number of sitting Illinois lawmakers facing criminal charges to three, which is a high-water mark in recent political memory at the Statehouse. Trotter now joins state Rep. Derrick Smith (D-Chicago), who faces a federal bribery charge, and state Rep. La Shawn Ford (D-Chicago), who was indicted last week on federal bank fraud charges.
Interesting. I see a pattern in those arrests. Do you see it too?
The long line of leftists and other hypocrites who use guns to defend themselves while agitating against other people’s right to do the same include NBC’s Bob Costas, crockumentary filmmaker Michael Moore, California Democrat Lori Saldana, actor Sylvester Stallone, and just about every member of the Democrat caucuses in Congress who uses armed security — men with guns.

His arrest brings the number of sitting Illinois lawmakers facing criminal charges to three, which is a high-water mark in recent political memory at the Statehouse. Trotter now joins state Rep. Which raises the question of how many Illinois federal lawmakers there are facing criminal charges, besides Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D, IL).
I’m tired of these Hollywood lefties complaining about Second Amendment rights. Put your money, and career, where your mouth is. If you’re that much against guns, then refuse any part in any movie which contains gun violence scenes. Anything less would be hypocritical. In fact, each one should sign a pledge to that effect. Hey, Sly, that’s you.
If not for dishonesty, carving out special exceptions, racism, cheating, fraud, theft, nepotism and cronyism, general corruption, and hypocrisy, representatives of the Democratic [sic] party would have no principles.
I’m predict Trotter will be allowed to plea down to aggravated gum chewing in an airport, and given a small fine, a token sentence to be served with so-called “community service” such as recording a video statement of anti-Second Amendment bigotry as a “public service announcement, and the usual Chicago way wink and nod.
All that said™, I believe every adult American citizen should legally be able to carry any gun anywhere at any time for any legal purpose without question. If we were to take the Second Amendment at face value, violent crime would soon become a thing of the past. We’d need half as many TSA gropers as counterfeit postage stamp inspectors.
Now, will the software warn me again I’m posting too often and warn me to slow down?
It’s been illegal for passengers to carry firearms on their persons onto airliners well before 9/11. This is a special kind of stupid; I’m surprised that State Senator Trotter – and all his constituents who voted for him – can breathe on their own without detailed instructions.
Guns are for special people who should have them and not peasantry who can’t touch them without injuring themselves, you know.
He should be placed on the No Fly list.
It’s a bit heavy handed to point out that the number of sitting Illinois lawmakers facing charges is at an all time high, don’t you think?
I’d have just said “many sitting Illinois lawmakers not yet indicted” and left it at that.
There always is a Daily crime family associate somewhere in every corner of Chicago:
The security company employing state Sen. Donne Trotter has been paid more than $350,000 as a subcontractor on a City of Chicago security deal and is represented by a lobbying firm run by a onetime top aide to former Mayor Richard M. Daley. When he was arrested at O’Hare on Wednesday, he told police he left a pistol in a bag after working at AllPoints Security. Several people who work with Trotter in Springfield said privately they were not aware he held a position with a security firm — something that’s not listed on his economic disclosure forms.
