I mentioned this in the “gun culture” post but it deserves its own moment of infamy.
On CNN contributor Roland Martin’s podcast posted to his website Monday, Jason Whitlock, the columnist who inspired Bob Costas’ commentary on gun control during halftime of Sunday’s Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game on NBC, revealed his peculiar take on the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Whitlock spoke out against the NFL’s handling of the aftermath of Jovan Belcher’s suicide and gun issues in his Sunday FoxSports.com column. During Martin’s podcast, he likened the NRA to the Ku Klux Klan and tied the group to the dangerous street culture that unfortunately dominates “so many black youths.”
“Sports gets so much attention, and people tune out the real world, that I try to take advantage of the opportunity to talk about the real world when sports lends itself to that and try to open people’s eyes,” Whitlock said.
“You know, I did not go as far as I’d like to go because my thoughts on the NRA and America’s gun culture — I believe the NRA is the new KKK. And that the arming of so many black youths, uh, and loading up our community with drugs, and then just having an open shooting gallery, is the work of people who obviously don’t have our best interests [at heart].”
Mr. Whitlock, do you know that Planned Parenthood places its abortion mills in or near minority neighborhoods disproportionately to non-minority neighborhoods? Do you know what Planned Parenthood does in those abortion mills? Do you know what Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, thought about race? Why is Planned Parenthood not “the new KKK,” but the NRA is?

If the NRA is the “new KKK,” then the Democrats should heartily welcome them into their fold. And blaming black “gangsta” culture on the NRA is a bigger stretch than a Yao Ming shot block.
Whitlock is so bleeping stupid. If the NRA had had its way, the KKK would have had a lot fewer lynchings — it’s hard to lynch a man who’s armed.

Whitlock’s column bashing the “gun culture” also declared that the NFL should have forced the Chiefs to cancel or postpone their game against Carolina.
Did Whitlock ever play team sports himself? I’m disinclined to think so.
Anyone who’s read more than a few articles by Whitlock knows what he is. He breathes races, he drinks it, he sleeps it. If you want to use the word “disproportionately,” then let’s say Whitlock disproportionately defends blacks and takes down whites. Lets just say whites “arm” blacks and black folks are then helpless to not be armed.
If Whitlock had to go a year writing his column without mentioning race, I’m telling you straight up he couldn’t do it.
Whitlock’s moron, and there’s no cure. What’s people outside the black Left don’t realize is the traction this stuff has in that community – it’s a monumental agreement. You don’t get 95% of black folks voting Obama or Dems because this is a diverse community.
Whitlock’s a New Jim Crow guy; generally speaking, black Americans don’t just don’t think that’s true, to them it’s a fact of life. The Progressive Era Klan wanted guns out of blacks people’s hand, and the NRA is fighting to allow urban black people to arm themselves against criminals. People’s historical illiteracy amazes me.
Bush was not the best guardian of conservative ideas, but he gave us (or rather his speech writer Michael Gerson*), the great line of “the soft bigotry of low expectations.” This mindset has driven American progressive racial policy for over a century, and we need to do a better job of exposing it. Whitlock believes that black people can’t be responsible with weapons. It never crosses his mind that there are poor, “gun-philic” cultures that are in rural settings where law-abiding citizens protect themselves with guns. Black are more likely to be in poor, urban centers with tight gun-control. Therefore, blacks are more likely to be denied lawful access to weapons.
A lot of people believe this kind of thing too. This is why we may have a civil war, because they don’t mind trying to basically excommunicate folks on the flimsiest of thinking–makes witchcraft accusations look like the height of logical reasoning.
And that’s all Jason Witlock is–a man out on a witch-hunt when none exist.
I don’t think he’s that dumb to really believe that, it’s just another case of trying to re-write history to fit their agenda.

Surprise, turns out that Jovan Belcher was an extremely violent bully as early as 12 (probably much earlier), and has a specific record of violence and specifically violence towards women in college.

The first link is the father of a boy so brutalized by Belcher that he had to move from Long Island to Florida.
How evil must the NRA be, entrapping sweet black boys as early as 12 in a lifetime of gun violence. If they hadn’t reached him, he could have grown up as tender an innocent as Trayvon Martin.

The NRA was founded after the Civil War by Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate of the US Army because they were worried by the poor marksmanship of US soldiers. It was founded to support freedom, not slavery.
What will Mr. Whitlock believe next? Perhaps, like LaRouche, that the Queen of England controls the US drug trade?

In fact, an organization defending the rights of everyone (including blacks) to own guns is the exact OPPOSITE of the KKK.

I’ve sometimes thought that the real reason progressives want gun control ne disarmament is just a follow up on their initial gun control laws, i.e. to make sure that blacks are disarmed so they can roll over them. Sort of like why Planned Parenthood (founded by a racist eugenist) abortion mills are located in predominately black areas. And yet blacks continue to vote overwhelmingly progressive. >sigh<
