The head of the House Homeland Security Committee said Attorney General Eric Holder may have committed a “real dereliction of duty” if he didn’t immediately report the investigation into former CIA Director David Petraeus to President Obama.
Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said on CNN last night politics “could have been” in play if that was the case.
“The fact that this became an FBI investigation to begin with, then to me, once Director Petraeus came within the scope of the investigation, it’s almost unprecedented for the FBI to be investigating the director of the CIA,” King said, making a case that the facts heretofore don’t add up. “If they were going to do that, they should have immediately gone to the attorney general and also to the president of the United States because David Petraeus was a key part of the president’s foreign policy team.”
“I’m not talking about guilt or innocence. I’m saying he’s under a cloud. And I have great admiration for David Petraeus. I urged him to run for president. I’ve worked with him. He’s a tremendous patriot. But once he came under this scope of the investigation, they had to have — they should have notified the president because David Petraeus was involved in some of the most sensitive negotiations around the world,” King added.
He stressed that once the investigation, which reportedly began a few months before Obama was told, became apparent to Holder in September, the attorney general should have immediately told the commander in chief.
“It’s the president that runs foreign policy, not the attorney general,” the congressman said, adding that Holder has “failed terribly” at his job if he sat on the news.
“If the president did find out about it and didn’t act on it until after the election, that’s equally wrong. But if Holder knew about it, if the attorney general knew about it in September, I believe he had the absolute obligation to tell the president in fairness to the president what was happening,” King said.
He said his panel doesn’t have enough information yet to know if national security was compromised.
“And then when we had Benghazi, I think if we on the intelligence committee had known about this investigation going on, we may have looked at David Petraeus, the evidence he gave us, somewhat differently because most of what he told us then has pretty much been disproven since, and again, I think we may have looked at that differently,” King said.
“If he knew that he was being investigated, for instance, if David Petraeus was aware of that, he may have again tried to either tailor the testimony or modify it or do something which is not going to draw attention to himself,” he continued. “I mean human nature, if you know there’s a massive investigation going on, which could bring down your career, you may be less inclined to go all out.”

the congressman said, adding that Holder has “failed terribly” at his job if he sat on the news.
On a number of issues Congressman. This one seems relatively minor compared to F&F. And we won’t even bother bringing up the NBPP voter intimidation case again.
Anonymous, for far too many reasons, Holder should have been dismissed long ago, and charged with dereliction of duty – for starters! In no small measure, he and his boss are the biggest lawbreakers, to ever disgrace the People’s House!
So, if he gets hoisted on his petard, due to Benghazigate, then all the better. It should have happened long before!

Off to the slammer they gotta go!
Everyone keeps forgetting what is at play here. A willing media will help sweep everything and anything under the “rug”. If the truth should somehow be made public, the media will lay down a “barrage” on whomever dares to despoil their emperor and/or his minions the likes you have never seen.
Personally, I am hoping for a major meteor strike. That would be an equal destruction scenario (regardless or race, religion, sex, color, political affiliation, etc., etc.) If people actually have to work and struggle to survive, all this racist, feminist, “level the playing field” (which according to our current administration is actually level and equalize the outcome) will disappear over night.
Extreme? Yup…. but that’s about the only way things will actually improve.
To understand, you must look to Chicago for answers
Open message for Rep. Darrell Issa, Re: John Chase of the Chicago Tribune
http://illinoispaytoplay.com/2012/11/13/open-message-for-rep-darrell-issa-re-john-chase-of-the-chicago-tribune/
Going to that URL explains nothing. There is no ‘open message’ there, not even a link to another site to explain who is in the picture with Pres. Bush. What IS that all about?
This was probably discussed in one of those morning briefings that THE WON missed because he was out campaigning and golfing.
Either Dear Liar is comfortable with subordinates who don’t relay important information to him (possible, given his lack of executive experience) or else he’s a shameless liar (equally possible.) Can’t see any other option.
There IS another option.
This President prefers subordinates who don’t relay important information to him because it protects him from legal culpability.
Exactly right….
An Incompetent Shirker KNOWS he’s an Incompetent Shirker….
Which is why you’ll never actually catch one with a “tool” in their hands, and some crappy “Birdhouse” of their own creation on the workbench….
An Incompetent Shirker survives (and thrives and advances) by making sure that nothing can ever be attributable to their own hand.
In this regard, Brocobamma is the greatest, most sucessful president in the history of our republik
Anyone who believes that Obama wasn’t immediately informed that they had a dirty CIA chief is living in a little world of dreams.
Exactly.
I’m still waiting for someone to ask anyone who would know – who told the military response team in Benghazi to stand down on 9-11-2012. I think most of what has followed since that night is theatrics. IMO the Feckless Won sat on his ass watching American soil being attacked on that day and said “do nothing”. I want to know why he would say that.
Because he’s a traitor.
As is everyone in his entire administration.
Correct.
Another sleight of hand through the media. There will be no substantial investigation since it would require action from this administration. No consequences other that the truth being with held.
There are NO indications of any crimes having been committed in regards to the general’s relationships investigations — only personnel matters. Far to many members of the GOP are aboard a conspiracy train stopping at every fence post and cactus looking for and devising an irrelevant conspiracy theory.
I think an overwhelming majority of citizen across parties are far more concerned with the economy, jobs, spiraling national debt and government gridlock.
What about Blackmail.
By Islamists.
In exchange for policy recomendations to the President regarding the “war”.
Like, I dunno, SUICIDAL Rules of engagement, pathetic apologies for Burning Korans, things like that?
Thats why “personnel matters” among the high ranking are so important, why character and fidelity need to be more than just words.
When someone as high up as Gen. Betrayus has a major character flaw, it has the potential to effect all of us.
That clown Mr. Bill did the same thing….so worried about “her” going to the Chinese or the Russians with the dirt, he lost track of the Nuclear Football for several days.
Its never about “personnel matters” when you’re THAT far up the corporate ladder.
But at least this guy had the class to resign.
If this doesn’t concern you why did you even bother to stop in?
If the Feckless Won were as concerned as you about the economy and jobs he’d have done something about it in his first two years when he had control of the house and senate. Only now that the crap has hit the fan do his fans wish to move on – nothing to see here.
Except there is much to be seen here – the fact that you can’t see it doesn’t make it invisible. If you can’t see something very wrong with all this then you have the imagination of a stump.
First, I’m an old school leathernect, Semper Fidelis military man. I have no problems with a much needed discussion of the character failings of some in our militarys officer corps. That aside, one has to address most problems from a point of reality. In both instances of the generals. General Allens’ conduct would fall under Article 134 of the UCMJ. In the case of General Patreaus who has admitted to adultry, his only charge would be Article 134 of the UUCMJ if it were proved that he commited such an act prior to retiring — a charge that is no longer charged as a stand-alone charge. The same would be true for major Broadwell, a reserve officer.
As for the FBI and AG offices. They have no legislative restraint or direct policy procedure to report up-chain the fruits of an ongoing investigation unless and in the case of evidence to indicate a felony or other forms of a national security breach has been committed by a federal employee. However, an assumption on my part, I would assume that with sufficient evidence at hand, the FBI advised the AG office and likewise, the AG advised somebody from the inner circle of the oval office. When either may have been advised is really irrelevant.
Even if the information was shortly before the election, change of command procedures for a department or agency such as the CIA had to be followed in which would take a few weeks or more in the case of General Patreaus. I have no problems with either the timing or the motive for the timing. I suspect everybody was waiting to see how the election turned out and in the event Romney won General Patreaus would have made notification of resignation offering him a more subdued departure.
In any case, there is no big conspiracy of any degree connecting the “sex scandals” to the events in Libyia. Time will prove all this smoke screen to be just that, an idealogical smoke screen of no ligitimacy.
Of relevancy is the Department of States failure to maintain adequate security or order closure of the embassy and consulate offices considering even the public information available. In closed hearing there will no doubt have to be a hearing relative to the allegations of Major Broadwell that the CIA was in violation of the executive detention order.
As to the inner circle of the presidents appointed staff and election team lying to America about the cause of the Lybia attack, well, even a rock can figure that one out. I think most americans had that one figured out and still the President won the election.
Time to move on to the far more important issues of the economy, jobs, budgets and the spiraling national debt!
So what law has the general broken? When did it become a crime for two adults to have sex? There is no there , there. When adults were allowed to be grown ups like Jack Kennedy sex was between to adults and not the governments business.
“So what law has the general broken? When did it become a crime for two adults to have sex?”
Please consult The Uniform Code Of Military Justice before making declarations based on the slackers perspective of the way things “should” be…
Not only did he break laws by sleeping with her, he opened himself up to BLACKMAIL BY THE ENEMY, which is why Military rules for sexual behavior are different than those on a college campus.
FYI, even a NON-SEXUAL relationship that only LOOKS SUSPICIOUS is a crime in and of itself, because it causes a lack of confidence. You are (legally) required to avoid even “the appearance of impropriety” in many things (lending/borrowing money between ranks, fraternization, etc. etc.) because it undermines confidence of:
A) The troops…”only the generals pet/butt buddy can get promoted”
B) The PUBLIC…. “If he’ll cheat on his own wife, do I trust him with my sons life”
Just like Mr. Bills slimy behavior wasn’t about sex, neither is THIS.
It’s OK for girls to be sluts but men of status can’t diddle them. Talk about how screwed up things are!
The famous French slogan for detectives is (loosely translated) “Search out the woman.” It relies on the observation that behind every major crime is a woman (or women) stirring the pot. To understand what’s really going on you have to find the woman and understand what she wanted.
So, do you really want to have men of status heavily influenced and manipulated by the “sluts” they “diddle”?
That famous French saying is ‘Cherchez la femme’ – why didn’t you just come out and say it? It used to be very well-known. Has the feminist movement, the PC movement, been responsible for its demise? It certainly still applies, even if not PC.
Someone is being played. The question is, who is the player, and who is being played? The news media is being fed leaks, which they gleefully publish, but there are two competing story lines, leaving the reader with the impression that The President of the United States is at war with his generals.
General Petraeus is being trashed by the news media and by internet trolls, enemies of the good general suddenly appear, all the while Obama is invisible, no where to be found. Who benefits? Who is it that has made a career out of demonizing any opposition? Who would most likely demand an edited version of congressional testimony, and who would use scandal as a lever against a public figure?
Does it really matter what Petraeus did, or is it only necessary to make it appear that something unseemly happened? Who would have to power to manufacture a scandal, and who would have access to inside information to fed the media?
The most transparent administration in the nation’s history is suddenly clouded by fog.
Com’on Bridget! Get serious.
Obama’s pet civil rights attack dog will be reconfirmed by a Senate that will have more Dems in it than they did have before Tues. Holder would have to kill someone with his own personal hand to make him toxic to those who must confrim him.
Same with 0dum0! And then I’m not sure about his voters.
With the likes of Bono and Jimmy Fallon salivating at the mention of Obama, I believe he could commit murder on reality TV and still win approval from the majority.
“There are NO indications of any crimes having been committed in regards to the general’s relationships investigations…”
Oh, yes there are indications, and that’s one reason why this matter needs to be exposed to the full light of day.

I rest my case.
The office of attorney general has been corrupted since Janet Reno into a legal protective rear guard for the presidency. The radical change would be to have the attorney general, as is done in some state elections, made into a separate candidacy than the governor. If it can go wrong it will and it has.
The real scandal is this. They promised us the continuance of Bill Clinton’s presidency and the President is the only one not getting any extra-marital nookie. This president is not nearly as cool as he is portraying himself to the American people. Unless we see some action (and with a real babe) we need to move quickly to keep America entertained as possible.
Make it a guy or even better, a beast for maximum tawdriness.
You’re not aware of “Bathhouse Barry” and his reputation for homosexual philandering in Chicago?
PETRAEUS SCANDAL: ‘WHAT ARE THE ODDS?’. During Tuesday’s broadcast, Glenn Beck delved into the developing sex scandal involving David Petraeus, former director of the CIA. The former four-star general resigned his CIA post last week after acknowledging an extramarital affair. However, the timing of his resignation — just days … READ MORE: http://bwcentral.org/2012/11/petraeus-scandal-what-are-the-odds/
Eric Holder should have never been approved to be Attorney General. He is a man without substance. He was involved with the Clinton Administration and we know how ethical they were( Marc Rich pardon, Puerto Rico terrorists released, etc.). His involvement in Fast and Furious has still not been resolved. The Obama administration is so corrupt it boggles the mind. I believe they are blackmailing Petraeus pure and simple. Too bad we have a bunch of wimps in Congress who are afraid to go after this corrupt adminstration. Obama and his loyalists are getting even with whitey and they will not rest until they see the USA pay for its past, evil deeds. They are playing games of distraction and the uninformed American public is either too drugged up to know how the game is being played or too stupid to care. Either way it’s going to be a long and difficult road for those of us who love our country and know that the current administration does not have our best interest at heart.
I do not think we know much. I do not think we ever will. I do know that the news broke the day after the election. I know the head for the CIA would have the highest knowledge of what occurred in his safe house in Benghazi. Supposedly Gen Allen sent or received 20,000 to 30,000 documents to Mrs Kelly over the span of two years. If true, he could not possibly have his mind on his job, running the war effort in Afghanistan. Supposedly the AG knew of the Petraeus affair, but the President did not, until after the election, after Benghazi.
From what I know, I think the American people are being lied to. There are simply too many bizarre coincidences and behaviors to believe these people, or the press. My only hope is that this scandal is about sex, and beautiful women. Thus it will dominate the networks. Many honorable, innocent people will be smeared, particularly families, but just maybe some truth will leak out. I would like to trust my government but I can not. I was trained to think.
There are so many implication in this mess it isn’t funny; but I have to ask, if Petraeus has to fall on his sword for a few pokes, why doesn’t Holder have to resign over F & F and the death of Brian Terry? I mean really a poke has higher priority than the death of a border agent and the thousands of Mexicans?
Citizens, illegals, and voters for Obama must have a very short memory if they think congressional investigations can provide any information or help solve any problem. Can’t they recall the answers by the attorney general and multiple underlings during the recent Fast and Furious hearings. Is there any clarification of the situation? What was determined?
I am deeply distressed by the current situation in the military. If the generals have time to do all this “fooling around”, they obviously don’t have enough to do. Take away a lot of their staff. If the fighting forces are led by more captains, majors, and colonels, maybe some will have second thoughts when they sign those agreements not allowing Americans to shoot those who are killing them. Obama seems to be decimating the higher ranks of the military even as the rest of the military is cut back. It’s not a good situation.
