Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said the GOP needs to work harder to reach out to minority and immigrant communities.
The freshman senator congratulated President Obama on his victory tonight in a statement, and said “it has been a privilege campaigning for Mitt Romney, getting to know him and traveling throughout the country on his behalf.”
“When future generations look back on this election, I am proud they will count me among those who chose a path of limited government and free enterprise at a critical crossroads in our history. I am proud to have cast my vote for Mitt Romney,” Rubio said.
“Now comes the hard part. America faces monumental challenges in putting people back to work, reducing our crushing debt and advancing our interests around the world,” the senator added.
“In the next Congress, I am committed to working on upward mobility policies that will ensure people who work hard and play by the rules can rise above the circumstances of their birth and leave their children better off. The conservative movement should have particular appeal to people in minority and immigrant communities who are trying to make it, and Republicans need to work harder than ever to communicate our beliefs to them. I look forward to working on these goals with my new and returning colleagues in Congress and hope the President will get behind our efforts.”

Well, good luck with THAT,Senator Rubio, you are STILL the MINORITY party in the Senate. I am sure that our criminal in chief will work hand in glove with the DEMOCRAT MAJORITY to block the GOP from getting ANYTHING on THEIR agenda accomplished. He has a “mandate”, after all!
The country won’t move forward until we all realize that we cannot live off the gigantic federal credit card. Obviously about 50% of voting Americans believe they can run the US on eternally on Chinese money. In the meanwhile Republicans insist in acting like Democrats to get to power. People instinctively see the basic hypocrisy of that. The GOP “Doled” two elections now and they will continue looking at Hispanics as irrelevant merely invoking the word “amigo” and appearing all starchy and idiotic in CNN Español, like if that is going to do something. In despising the most socially conservative voting bloc in the country the GOP is assuring its own inferiority. The DP is no less hypocritical about Hispanics but they know how to lie better. The good side of this is that BO is sure to “deepen the model” and his policies will bring so much misery and pain that we may end up with him being the undertaker for the Democrats. We are witnessing the death of Progressivism–the world is running out of money and there is nothing they can do about it. Now Hispanics and non-Hispanics must brace for the years of misery ahead. The markets will have their say in the days and weeks to come. We’re fast approaching a wall called reality and out gas pedal and steering wheel are stuck.
Lexington and Concord are the only answer. Sorry.
A huge part of the Republican agenda for the last three decades has been social conservatism. Yet, surprise!, is hasn’t done much to bring in south- and central-american latinos in the GOP fold.
Tax breaks were also passed for all income levels, and the Bush years were a period of fairly strong economic growth and (in the second term) job creation.
But the truth is, for many Latinos, the only issue that seems to matter is giving a free pass to those who came here illegally. In short, we can only appeal to a significant part of this group by throwing out our preference for the english language, the rule of law, and other vital elements of our platform. It would be a pyrrhic victory

Then let’s take a different approach…deport the illegals en masse.
Cut off Federal funds to so-called “Sanctuary Cities”.
Move the urban underclass to where these now-vacant jobs are.
Stop trying to kiss the behind of people who have repeatedly kicked you in the teeth.
We have only defeats to lose
Reagan did not apologize for his Goldwaterism, and he cleaned clocks.
“…The conservative movement should have particular appeal to people in minority and immigrant communities who are trying to make it, and Republicans need to work harder than ever to communicate our beliefs to them.”-Senator Rubio
I don’t think he means what your lede implies, (at least I HOPE he doesn’t mean the same old fool’s errand that has led to two straight Presidential defeats).
So, what ARE our beliefs?
Hey…why not nominate a Conservative who governs like a Conservative, lives like a Conservative, and passes legislation like a Conservative.
That wasn’t McCain and it wasn’t Romney.
Given the topic of immigrants in recent elections, an interesting new book that helps explain the role, struggles, and contributions of immigrants is “What Foreigners Need To Know About America From A To Z: How to understand crazy American culture, people, government, business, language and more.” It paints a revealing picture of America for those foreigners who will benefit from a better understanding. Endorsed by ambassadors, educators, and editors, it also informs Americans who want to learn more about the U.S. and how we compare to other countries around the world on many issues. As the book points out, immigrants are a major force in America as they are in other nations. Immigrants and the children they bear account for 60 percent of our nation’s population growth and own 11 percent of US businesses and are 60 percent more likely to start a new business than native-born Americans. They represent 17 percent of all new business owners (in some states more than 30 percent). Foreign-born business owners generate nearly one-quarter of all business income in California and nearly one-fifth in the states of New York, Florida, and New Jersey.
Legal immigrants number 850,000 each year; undocumented (illegal) immigrants are estimated to be half that number. They come to improve their lives and create a foundation of success for their children to build upon, as did the author’s grandparents when they landed at Ellis Island in 1899 after losing 2 children to disease on a cramped cattle car-like sailing from Europe. Many bring skills and a willingness to work hard to make their dreams a reality, something our founders did four hundred years ago. In describing America, chapter after chapter identifies “foreigners” and minority members who became successful in the US and contributed to our society. However, most struggle in their efforts and need guidance, be they in Florida,Fresno,or Falls Church. Perhaps the book and Americans can lend a helping hand. http://www.AmericaAtoZ.com
