The Million Muppet March rally today in Washington seeking to have taxpayers continue to subsidize television programing for children fell significantly short.
Perhaps small things aren’t on the minds of voters the weekend before the election. Or maybe it’s just hard to get people to turn out for hand outs for programing that channels like Nick Jr. produce without the government paying for it.

Marist and PPP estimated that the Muppet turnout was in excess of 800,000 (including early turnout last week).
With New York City under water, millions of people loosing their homes, millions more loosing their jobs, and the country in bankruptcy, these predominately white upper class elitists want to steal more tax money from the lower and middle class working Americans to fund their Commie PBS Station. There is no reason that any public money should go to this corrupt corporation. They are already funded by the elitists like MacArthur Trust, Ford, ExxonMobile, Annenberg, etc. PBS is Corporatism (the fusion of Big Corporations with Big Government). The Commie PBS Station hurts the viewers too. The Sesame Street generation is the first generation that can not read or write. It produces functional illiterates. PBS is a horrendous waste of money!
but kids know moochelle, the word on the “shtreet”, how to speak Spanish and what lgbt means…big bird needs to be plucked.
Oh, so you’re one of those racists who wants women and children to die, huh?
Plus, Binders!!!
Steve Skubinna, you’re an idiot!
Avenue Q?
– Disney for a billion.
The country is full of economic trouble, of that there is no doubt. The pitance of tax money that goes to public broadcasting that would be “saved” will not get the country out of debt in the next century. Big bird teaches children to read. Not everyone is lucky enough to have parents who can teach them. DSL and DirectTV are a privilege, free education should be a right. It is actually strange that you think upper class white folks are some how getting some thing extra out of PBS. Its the poor that use PBS, it’s the kids with parents who don’t speak English, the people who don’t have Netflix or Blue Ray. The reason those “Big Evil” companies “fund” PBS is because they receive government tax write-offs when they donate to non-profit organizations.
The Wall Street Journal’s DAVID WESSEL on the US Defense budget: “It’s about 20 percent of the federal budget now, $700 billion last year, more than the combined defense budgets of the next 17 largest defense budgets, more than China, plus Russia, plus Germany, plus France, plus Spain, plus Israel, plus the United Arab Emirates, and a few more that I can’t remember.” It costs every American $1.35 a year to support PBS. Not even enough money for you daily Grande Latte.
Well, don’t worry, if they cut the funding for PBS our military can run for a 8 more minutes! There will be plenty more folks for the unemployment line. Plenty more kids with lack luster educations and stifled creativity. Thank God they wont be Queers or Commies! What would the world be like with a bunch of literate, friendly, creative “Urban” people. I would just be too offended to leave my white picket fenced palatial compound.
The actor who plays Big Bird made $314,000 last year from PBS alone, part of it paid for with public money.
That’s 79% of what we pay the President.
In fact, if we include him as a public employee, Big Bird is the third highest paid public servant in US history.
