Today’s news, that according to e-mails, U.S. officials knew the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11 killing four Americans, including our Ambassador, was a terrorist attack within two hours.
Obviously, this means CIA Director General David Petraeus immediately knew most, if not all of the details.
So why did General Petraeus stay quiet when the president and his administration, insisted for two weeks, that the attack was a response to a video, including Obama’s speech before the United Nations when his boss mentioned the video as the root cause of the attack several times?
This leads one to ask the following questions:
Did Petraeus knowingly take part in the Obama administration’s cover-up?
If so, he should resign.
However, if General Petraeus is not involved in what is looking more like a cover-up, than why has he not resigned his post as Director of the CIA to save his own credibility?
General Petraeus, clearly one of the nation’s most respected leaders, now occupying an important civilian national security post, will be central to unraveling all the questions swirling around this attack that is now “growing like a cancer on the presidency.”

Maybe the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI), Petraeus, reports to the notorious political hack who is Director of National Intelligence (DNI), James Clapper.
DNI is a “coordinator” position. The position was created by the statute “9-11 Commission Act of 2007″. Since the DNI is nothing but a coordinator, he/she welds no power. Each federal agency that performs an intelligence function (the sum of which make up the “intelligence community”) still continues to produce it’s own compartmentalized intelligence products.
With regards to Petraeus. Petraeus retired from the Army to accept the political appointment as Director of CIA. He obviously knew the truth about Benghazi yet participated in the cover-up to protect his political master.
Bad call General, you should have done the honorable thing and resigned rather than participate in the cover-up. Your career will also be over on Nov 6th.
I agree, if Petraeus went along with this he is no better than the rest of the Obama thugs.
Resignations won’t be good enough for me. The loss of life in Benghazi was not a political matter but a criminal matter. Apparently the attack was known about within two hours and watched in real time by surveillance assets in the region. We maintain MORE THAN SUFFICIENT assets in theatre to have responded and almost certainly saved at least some American lives. To not have done so is CRIMINAL. Therefore, if Gen Petraeus is shown to have falsely reported information for political purposes, then he belongs in PRISON, not just allowed to resign and keep his cushy pension and play golf 4 days a week. This story gets worse every day…and I thought Fast and Furious was sleazy. Sh!t…
The Benghazi fiasco was all about funneling weapons and personnel to help out our Muslim enemies.
Too bad for Obama that our enemies always bite the hand that feeds them, and very promptly at that.
General Petraeus, IIRC, gave false testimony to Congress immediately after the attack. If this is true, resignation is not a sufficient sanction. He should be publicly shamed – despite all of his other accomplishments. Great military accomplishments should not serve as a license for criminal activity. False testimony to Congress is attacking the Constitution – and there’s a name for that.
I sincerely hope that I am wrong, and this turns out to have been an honest mistake. If not…
Obama should resign first.
And let’s not forget that last week Hillary took responsibility for the lies, saying that they were due to the “fog of war”. Now we come to know that there was no “fog”, and that this administration knew within two hours what had happened, therefore Hillary last week has lied again. She must go too.
I went to cnn.com this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see this story as the top headline. I thought that, perhaps, the media had finally realized they could no longer bury this story and would run with it.
Foolish me. I just went back and the story is nowhere to be seen in their headlines. Mourdock’s comment that life, even if conceived in rape, is god’s will is still making headlines, however. On usatoday.com, the Mourdock story is getting top billing, while the Libya cover-up is buried under a number of headlines, including a possible hurricane in Jamaica, an uptick in new home sales, and a story asking “whether it is too easy for U.S. buildings to be green?”
Dear Liar needs to resign. Either he has such bad staff that didn’t think it was ok to inform him of the assault, which means he’s grossly incompetent; or he gave orders not to be informed; or he just didn’t care.
I think Petraeus knows just how bad things are with this regime, and is working inside simply to try and lessen the evilness of the regime.
Sort of like the great war hero and savior of France in WWI was working on the inside to lessen the evils of the Vichy Government in WWII?
Petraeus isn’t a tired old man. I haven’t studied Vichy France in great detail, but really, with France overrun, what was Petain to do, but try and keep the light burning and hope for rescue in the future. Sometimes, the less worse option is to take personal dishonor in hopes of saving the nation rather that fall on your sword and let the barbarians ride roughshod. Petraeus didn’t pick Dear Liar.
Great point. Nevertheless, he was tried, convicted, and sentenced to death for treason. DeGaulle commuted that to life in prison, and indeed that was where he dies.
If Petraeus is indeed holding his finger in the dyke, that should become clear after the election. Hopefully.
I am honestly stunned by the actions of General Petraeus, I expected more from a war hero and a great general. I thought he was a man of honor.
I’m sick about this terrorist attack, that the Egyptian, Osama’s second in command, to avenge a death by a drone of another AQ leader. If a video is responsible for this, it’s that video. Did everyone forget about that one? It may not have been on a video, but the Egyptian doctor, his names fails me now, wanted the various AQ affiliates to attack on the anniversary of September 11. I had a feeling something bad would happen this year on the anniversary, it’s the first time it fell on a beautiful Tuesday mooring so like the day of September 11, 2001.
Has anyone spotted Comrade Petraeus lately? Probably hiding in a place with no mirrors so he cannot see what he has become. I once greatly admired the man; I was wrong to do so. This traitor does not even deserve the honor of a firing squad.
(MY OPINION) ARE THESE PEOPLE LEAVING BECAUSE THEY KNOW SOMETHING AND
DO NOT WANT INVOLVED! I THINK THAT THEY ARE PROTECTING THE PRESIDENT,
BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED IN LIBYA! I BELIEVE THEY KNOW WHAT THE REAL TRUTH
IS, AND THAT THEY ARE AFRAID OF THE PRESIDENT, AND ARE COVERING UP FOR HIM…
