I have been looking around L.A. while I visit here and see the contrast here with what is going on in the rest of the country. I am staying in a nice part of town where people live in a beautiful, bubbly cocoon riding their bikes to work and congratulating themselves on their rent-controlled apartments. It’s lefty heaven and honestly, it’s easy to get caught up in thinking the lefty utopia is not too bad. Until you start looking underneath the belly of the beast and realizing that lefty politics looks pretty on the outside but inside lies a cesspool of hurt for our country if things don’t change. Sometimes I want to walk up to one of these lefty hippies and just yell, “WTF are you doing?”
You drive a Mercedes or BMW and complain about the gas prices, not understanding that it is you who is driving the price into the ground. If you had your way, all of us in fly-over country would be following suit and be as regulated as you are. You think that your utopia will somehow save the day, but it will eventually result in a country that goes down not with a bang but a whimper.
Many of those on the left who are female would sell their soul for a package of free birth control pills and some morning-after pills given out to teens on demand. I have an image in my mind of a bunch of liberal women fighting over a pack of free birth control pills while our economy and our kids’ future go up in fiery smoke right next to them without them even noticing. Call me sarcastic, but I fear for our children’s future and their ability to get a job more than I care about whether or not they have to shell out 10 or 20 bucks a month for a pack of birth control pills.
I wonder how our health care will proceed if Obama is re-elected, Sure, maybe women can get free bc pills, but will it be at the expense of other areas of health for themselves and for men without the illness du jour that is popular with our government overlords at the moment? Because remember, breast cancer gets a lot more money and time spent on it than prostate cancer. Or what if you have heart disease like I did and not breast cancer? Will medical research continue to pay and do research on expensive devices like an ICD? If you think health care is bad now, wait until it’s regulated totally by government. But hey, maybe that pack of free pills was worth it.
Many business owners are afraid of Obama and his policies; they are battening down the hatches and readying themselves for another round of abuse if Obama is re-elected. Our free speech rights are at risk in our colleges now more than ever, and our ability to speak out in ways that the government doesn’t like without being arrested is, frankly, questionable. Our kids have no jobs and the situation will probably get worse if we continue down the path of the past four years. Our future and freedom are up in the air, but utopia is just around the corner.

Well said, Dr. Smith! I woke up this morning thinking about the whole trend of Dumbing Down America and wishing Newsweek would write a huge blockbuster cover story on that. Oh wait! On the one hand we have the wealthy out-of-touch liberals you describe in their cocoons, and on the other hand, working and unemployed people in places like Ohio caught in a hard left union view of the world, who believe that hurting business will help them.
Sometimes a few smacks upside the head are helpful, at least to wake some out of their stupors.Others are immune, but so be it.
So, as this blogger’s contribution to the effort, here is just one smackdown out of a laundry list – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/08/02/revealed-the-second-term-plans-of-an-obama-presidency-nothing-short-of-a-national-nightmare-commentary-by-adina-kutnicki/
If what you have to say on your blog is interesting enough, people will find it on their own without you continually spamming it here.
I’ve got to second that. It’s getting annoying.
You’re dealing with a crowd that is willing to read a lot more and expand their horizons in thought, but that kind of link whoring is just ridiculous.
MeatShield –
So, you are free to read it, or not. But the fact that my blog deals directly with the issues at hand seems to resonate with tens of thousands.
Have a nice day.
DITTO. She does this all over PJMedia talk backs. You have to scroll past her blog free-ads too many times.
It’s beyond annoying, and her responses to many respectful requests to tone it down have shown she is in the same league as Obama when it comes to narcissism.
I think we can live without her blog.
I’d like to see her use the “Website” box for its intended purpose of letting people read her blog if they are interested. Otherwise, she should be banned from this site or pay normal advertising rates.
What she does now is effectively advertising and she should pay for that, just like anyone else would.
Hi there Locomotive Breath – are you still blogging? Noticed you didn’t put a website URL in your comment.
Something big is brewing in Chicago. Keep an eye on this.
Weekly Standard reviews Tribune reporters’ book on Blago
http://illinoispaytoplay.com/2012/10/20/weekly-standard-reviews-tribune-reporters-book-on-blago/
The closest I’d ever read on the topic, or near enough, was a 1992 US News and World Report article on the “Nature of the American Public.” Their skew was, “Crybabies and Busybodies.”
The birth control pill was approved for general (non-trial) use in 1957. Fifty-five years later, many women think that they have a right to free birth control pills. Amazing.
Most of the time if a guy pays for a woman’s birth control there is a quid pro quo involved. This wouldn’t be part of Obamacare that Pelosi hasn’t read about but is tucked in there somewhere, is it? That might influence public acceptance.
In the Soviet Union, birth control in large part consisted of abortions — without anesthesia.
Anyone want those days here?
The child being aborted doesn’t get anesthesia.
Why should the woman?
Legal abortionists in the US are just as creepy and bloodthirsty as the old-fashioned illegal variety. They often don’t bother with any anesthesia or aftercare either.
The abortionist problem doesn’t have to do with the legality or illegality of what they do. It has to do with abortion itself.
in soviet russia baby aborts YOU
Back in the 80s, I worked with a 20-something woman who had been born in Yugoslavia and still went back occasionally to visit. On one occasion, she was out with her old girlfriends and discovered that she was the only one of the group who had never had an abortion.
Apparently, in Eastern Europe in those days, abortion was readily available but birth preventatives were difficult or impossible to find. How stupid is that? Make it easy for women to get pregnant and then put them at risk to their health from having abortions but don’t make birth control available to prevent the issue in the first place…. Ironically, the Marxists always like to talk about how they practice SCIENTIFIC socialism. Scientific my @$$; they don’t even have common sense let alone science on their side!
Doctors weren’t worth much, so maybe it was cheaper in a way.
And yes, I find it horrifying.
It’s another facet of the leftist/Communist war on Orthodox Christianity.
has any Republican candidate, anywhere, suggested that birth control should be banned? you can get a generic at WalMart for a little over $100/year, and if you can’t afford that, free at Planned Parenthood. This is a total non-issue created to scare women, on the grounds that they are too stupid to realize that taxpayers need not pay for Sandra Fluke’s pills–a 30-year old coed who can earn $150,000/year.
^This!
Why is POTUS making such a huge issue over who pays for The Pill, especially whether Catholic based institutions ought to be forced to pay? This country would be in bad shape w/o non-profit (mostly secularly run) community hospitals sponspored by the Roman Catholic Church, and it seems very odd to deliberately pick a fight w/ them just before an election.
Full discolsure; I’m in the conflicted middle philosophically:
1. Roe v. Wade (and more importantly Griswold, which ‘found’ a constitutional ‘right to privacy’ in the ‘penumbras and emanations’ of the preamble) was an awful SCOTUS ruling.
2. Though I like the idea of life, as a guy I’m not comfortable making that decision for a woman. I support state laws to regulate abortion, adoption support, wide access to (privately paid) contraception . . . but would probably vote for a state based privacy law.
3. No, I’m not Catholic.
Best Regards,

his entire record, reputation, character, and the whole admin is a large, brown, flaming sack of poo that is unquenchable AND unstompable..
he has NOTHING BUT continually disparging Mr. Romney with scurrilous accusations.
days late, beers ahead
Actually, more of a gurgly, slurpy noise. That’s how drains sound when things go down them.
“Many business owners are afraid of Obama and his policies; they are battling down the hatches…”
“Battening” is the word. (You need more sailing time.)
Fixed, thanks!
So what are all these things you want to shout at the world, just “WTF?”
I guess that does kind of cover it all.
How about a couple of verses of Guantanamera as an encore, or maybe you’d like to buy the world a Coke?
I won’t claim to “need ” more sailing time. I will say I want more sailing time.
Hi, Helen. As log as you and Glenn are down there in LA-LA Land, come on up and visit our state capital, Sacramento. We have a BEAUTIFUL scenic trail from Folsom Dam down the American River, with a smoothly paved bike and walking trail all the way into downtown.
Nobody can use it, because it is overrun with “homeless camps” and squatters. The “homeless” are mostly drunks and druggies, but they line the trail with filth and debris. They root through the dumpsters and take anything that might be useful back to their camps, and leave behind – along the trail – anything that they don’t want.
It’s the classic example of how liberalism ruins things for everybody.
Of course, if you or I threw stuff down on the trail, we would probably be fined.
What’s the phrase for this? “Arachno-Tyranny”!!
Rule of the spiders?
That would explain a lot of things that otherwise don’t make sense.
I’m sure he meant “arachno-anarchy.”
You mean anarcho-tyranny, right?
Great line, though.
As someone who lives in a motorhome that we own, in a campground wher we pay lot rental, I am disgusted with campers/squatters who give the rest of us a bad name. To me, camping means paying the appropriate fees for the use of the land and facilities you camp on, obeying the law and whatever other regulations are in place, and being a good neighbor to everyone.
But the weather is perfect. Just like my hair. What could be better than that?
A little more disaggregation, please! My 2007 Mercedes S550 gets a consistent 25 MPG.
They must have mighty big gallons, in your town.
Or maybe shorter miles?
So gas is cheaper than milk they say?
When’s the last time you bought 20 gallons of milk?
(Larry The Cable Guy)
I too was confused about the BMW and Mercedes comment. I think Dr. Helen is confusing ‘liberal’ with ‘someone who drives a BMW or Mercedes’? Or something.
The Paul Ryan ‘MATH’ bumper sticker on my 5-series is offended.
The reason CA has the highest gas prices in the US is because of the boutique gasoline the state mandates. Plain ol’ gas in AZ or NV or OR costs much less that that sold in Lalaland, and cannot legally be sold there. Their high gas prices are entirely self inflicted.
Another example of CA idiocy – buy a Volt or Prius and get a sticker allowing you to drive it in the HOV lanes of the freeway regardless of how many are in the car. That’s right – you’re rewarded for buying a hybrid by being encouraged to operate it in it’s least energy efficient mode.
Everybody forgets the fact that electricity isn’t free, either.
Seems to me that California has had its share of problems with electricity prices and with brownouts.
Just as a wonder what if type of thing. What if a young lady walked in to apply for her free birth control pills and found she had to go before a 15 member panel? And also what if, said panel ruled she was too ugly to need birth control pills but offered her free permanent sterilization in case she happened to run across someone too drunk to notice? Makes as much sense as a panel deciding whether or not you live or die but…
Sandra Fluke, rhymes with . . . . She wants free birth control pills? That only makes her a one night stand waiting to happen. As long as she fronts half the money for a hotel room, I’m game. Or actually I’m not. She’s not that attractive to begin with. She’s just another skank.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00ZWY_NqozI
And now she doesn’t like it. I look upon that as not my problem.
When I watched her speak on C-span about the need for free birth control, I wondered how she could spend 3k on birth control in 3 years while still attending law school. Maybe she walked around campus with a matress straped to her back? ……Just asking.
Be careful: Rush Limbaugh made that same observation and was vilified in the media for WEEKS! I heard the original show where he talked about Sandra Fluke, and I thought it was hilarious and spot on! Imagine my surprise when, the next day, watching the morning news shows with my elderly mother, I heard the discussion completely twisted and Rush made to appear to be a monster because all he did was make the reasonable observation that if this woman was spending $1,000 per year on birth control devices that a normal person can purchase at their local pharmacy for $10 per month – she must be buying a heck of a lot of condoms, implying that her sex life is more active than the neighborhood ‘ho. When would she have time to be in law school?
Frankly, I’m glad that the overall result of that was that Rush got MORE advertisers and more listeners and the advertisers who dropped his show now have exponentially fewer customers.
That makes me wonder what kind of STDs she has, not to mention mental disorders from living a dissolute life, and whether we, as taxpayers, will have to foot the bill for that.
My wife and I use a few prescription drugs. Every single one of them has a small copay ($5 a month) for the generic version. Of all medications, why should birth control pills have no copay? It makes no sense at all.
Because it’s rooted in ideology rather than reality, much like the rest of the bill. I honestly think that deep down in the bottom of their empty souls the Nancy Pelosis and Barak Obamas that make up the dem party leadership just wanted an opportunity to use the heavy hand of government to inflict pain and anger on all those who disagree with them. They relish the impotent rage over this policy more than the policy itself. Plus the media lets them get away with twisting the argument into claiming that the Republicans want to ban birth control instead of just not force everyone to buy it, and a lot of voters are dumb enough to fall for it.
Because unlike the other prescription drugs that do have co-pays, birth control is a voluntary choice, and medically speaking a non-necessity for all but a very, very restricted few who have such irregular menstrual cycles as to pose a health threat.
The only thing that will turn health care around is the elimination of government licensing.
I agree with you Helen on the idea of who picks which medication is “free.” My 19 year old daughter is not sexually active. She has a chronic complex medical condition. She takes six different meds, not all of which have a generic. Monthly co-pays range from $5 to $75 each. Without a few of these, she’d be uncomfortable. Without others, she’d become deathly ill and possibly die. I wonder how her reproductive “rights” take precedence over her rights to a functioning circulatory system? Next week she’ll have her 38th surgery and I’ll get more co-pays for more meds to follow-up from that. . .
Lisa,
I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope that her surgery goes well.
Prayers from the Holy Land, Lisa.
Hope and good wishes for your daughter. Hope it all turns out as well as possible.
Bod Bless,
Both hands clapping. If we could make the world perfect with rules and regulations we would have succeeded by now. How many pages in the Obamacare legislation?
Helen, stop by Boulder, CO on your way back if you wish to see a lefty heaven that can’t see the cesspool in their future. Heck, rumour has it that Ann Althouse is looking at moving out here when she retires.
WTF, I came out here (from Tennessee) for graduate school and I’m still here! Oh well, I’m not perfect by a long shot.
Predictions for this election:
(1) If Romney wins, almost immediately, there will be inner city riots comparable to the post-Rodney King verdict reaction. Maybe even as bad as when MLK got shot, i.e. large city areas lawless and on fire for months.
(2) If Obama wins, not immediately but eventually during his second term, there will be some sort of civil insurrection movement from the right that will go beyond the normal mechanics of democratic election politics. It may or may not be violent (at least at first), but the action–and reaction–will be enough to redefine how American government functions.
I would worry about the left preemptively working to restrict the right, in fear of an uprising. However, the right is occupied by people who actually work, and when they go on strike things will really be a mess. Let the newspapers and schools go on strike, that won’t reduce our productivity.
If case (1) happens you better have lots of ammo and be ready to fend for yourself, because you can bet that Obama will never allow the use of federal troops to restore order and will likely do anything in his power (or legally outside of it) to prevent governors from using national guard and other state forces to stop the riots.
Case (2) is what really worries me. Some sort of half-assed uprising that succeeds only in creating another crisis for the left to exploit in clamping down further on what civil rights we have remaining. Even if there is no real uprising from the right look for something staged, it’ll be too good of an opportunity to pass up.
I wouldn’t expect an armed insurrection by the right. The will be defensive use of firearms against criminals, but nobody’s going to attack the government directly. Instead watch for the right to ignore the federal government when possible much like how the 55 mph national speed limit was actively violated in flyover country. In clashes between the federal government and state/local government, watch for state/local government to simply refuse to comply. For example, voters in my home state of Texas will never approve state constitution changes to allow statewide income or property taxes. When state legislators get caught between federal demands to pay for underfunded federal mandates for things like expanded medicaid and voters saying oh hell no to more taxes, those legislators will drag their feet on doing the federal government bidding. Also watch for ordinary citizens to move more and more of their financial transactions to cash and bartering to avoid tax. For example, more independent small businesses openly offering significant discounts if payment is in cash.
Howdy George,
Well said! The solution is not armed revolution against the federal gov’t, it is contempt by state gov’t and voters at the polls.
If CA, NY, and IL want to destroy themselves fiscally . . . OK, we should let them do it. But they can’t come hat in hand asking other statse residents to pay for their errors (pol overpromises) via a federal bailout.
> if they can’t raise enough in taxes on their own citizens they will simply default on their stupid promises, and their state employees and retirees won’t get paid. Tough tuna.
Best Regards,
I don’t think that there will be any riots if Obama loses. African-Americans have caught on to the fact that Obama has done nothing to make their lives any better.
If the left wins, the regular folks will take action ala the Tea Party. They will just stop, and by that I mean just stop…everything. We will store up a bunch of stuff, and then, we will do nothing. The business motor of the United States will stop working. It won’t even idle.
It will be the largest non-violent, peaceful protest in the history of the world. They can take your money, they can take your house, but they can’t take your will.
We have tolerated being used, being lied to, being forced to pay for things we don’t want, being treated as monsters because we want to succeed, being mocked because we want a better world for our children, being abused for believing in God. It’s time to just stop.
And if we can’t keep it up, then we can slow the motor down by cutting our work week by one agreed upon day as a protest. Believe me, a twenty percent productivity decrease is a lot, and Washington and its incumbent money squanderers will get the idea that their butts will be on the line where they should be.
It won’t be easy, but it will work. To quote my favorite FLOTUS, Nancy Reagan, “Just say no.”
It’s called a General Strike, and it’s the last step before violent revolution. I’ve said it before: the free market capitalists are the Bolsheviks now, we might as well act the part.
Not sure the 1 day is strike is likely, or any other action leading to getting fired and replaced. There’ll be even more folks waiting for your job. Its either fight, freeze (the economy, somehow) or flee. Anyone know if Ayn Rand’s refuge is under construction yet? It may become a wakeup call to our defenders of liberty, realizing their oath is to the country, not a particular leader. It takes a military to break a dictatorship.
We are halfway across the Rubicon only this time it flows over a cliff. Will we continue Forward or will we turn back?
Pants.
Wake up. THEY – DID NOT DO IT !
Your shout ought to be Mea culpa if you are between the ages of 22 and 90. Or finger pointing at the free citizens in this land of “government of, by, and for the People” who did it.
The citizens who did it by electing, by ticking the boxes OR by sitting on their hands and not voting at all, in virtual perpetuity for example Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, anyone named Kennedy, their clones the Clintons and anyone on their bandwagon.
That bandwagon called the “Democratic Party of the US” with their allies the RINOs. The ideas and plans of their hierarchy to fundamentally transform the nation has been no secret within living memory since the election of Kennedy the First via tainted vote count in Chicago.
Initiating their vaunted “revolution of the 1960′s” and their long march for the past half century through the laws, customs and social agreements of these United States of America. Fundamentally transforming protections of citizens without prescribed lawful procedures in the Fundamental Law of te Land, the Constitution. That Constitution on which all laws in these United States of America must be justified.
What after all does “revolution” mean? What do we know of recent, within the past two centuries, revolutions? Their long march from 1960 through laws and the social contract to the election in 2008 and the culmination of their designs, with bells and whistles from the free citizens of the nation, with their New Kennedy/Messiah BH Obama.
In these United States what happens to and for the nation is the responsibility of the citizens. If the citizens are too uninterested in the realities behind the promises of their politicians – kissing the babies, making witty comment, smiling smiling smiling, giving good speech and promising the earth – for the job of representative/servant? of those people, those people must pay for products bought with false advertising.
Professional politicians, and particularly those members and their troops/troupes of that socalled Democratic Party, very like con-artists “never give a sucker an even break”.
Remember any Congress OR Chief Executive of Enterprise United States of America is selected by WE THE People. If the representatives are disrespectful of the laws and social agreements of We The People, WE in having given them the job, and keeping them in it, are responsible and must pay the bill. And HOPE to CHANGE our behaviors, to “clean up our act”.
While the con-artists and their troops/troupes elected to manage OUR nation and lives go smirking into their retirements.
Smirking with “for their service to the nation” indexed linked pensions, generous medical protection, and special “elite” status as “honourable”. Paid with taxes enforced by law on citizen collaborators and accomplices who bought their false and toxic promises, their misdeeds and crimes against us.
jojo,…what’s your point?
Twenty words or less, please.
Are you the only one who didn’t get it. I thought my point, meaning, quite clear.
Must try harder?
All Americans over 60 should have tattooed on their foreheads:
I’m spending my kids’ inheritance.
Why? Because branding used to be the way the community punished miscreants and warned people off of doing business with moral failures. Boomers are moral failures.
“Spending my kids inheritance”?
Isn’t that what a reverse mortgage is?
True.
Hey, punk, no ‘Boomer voted for FDR and the New Deal or for LBJ and the Great Society. Well, a few in Kentucky and Georgia, the only states with the 18 year old vote in ’64, might have voted for LBJ, but Goldwater carried Georgia. The first President elected at a time when any significant number of ‘Boomers could vote was Nixon. The first President elected when all ‘Boomers, b. 1946 – 1964, could vote was Reagan in his landslide second term. Some ‘Boomers must have voted for GHWB and GWB. Some ‘Boomers must not have voted for Comrade Obama because his biggest demographic after single women was the ever so wise and morally successful under 30 crowd.
If you were a ‘Boomer and right out of school went into government, education, media/entertainment, or the non-profits, you could keep the same dumbass ideas you were fed in college in the ’60s, the rest of us had to grow up and very quickly. We started our families in a time when if you had a good job you could get a Sears card with a $300 limit and an American Express Card was a real status symbol, ten percent was pretty much the minimum down on a house and the mortgage interest rates were over 15%, inflation was over ten percent and so was unemployment for most of the ’70s and early ’80s. We couldn’t roll back what our parents and grandparents did, but we didn’t add much to it and it ain’t ‘Boomers wanting free birth control pills, its you morally successful young folk.
God my generation is sick of being in the middle of the narcistsistic ‘boomers and their spoiled rotten kids.
Well, we’re still going to own and run the companies and institutions you work for for quite a few more years and you’re still going to be buying stuff we created.
Not all boomers are narcissistic. The anonymous admins of 1389 Blog certainly are not. We’re in it because we see the world going the wrong way and we feel a duty to do our part to turn it around, or at least, to slow down the financial and moral hemorrhaging.
Same with the folks at many of the other blogs that we follow.
Excuse me, but I have every right to spend “my kids’ inheritance.” Because their inheritance is MY MONEY!!! If you’re talking about the GOVERNMENT spending money that will have to come out of my kids’ pockets eventually, you’re talking about a very different thing.
My KIDS are not ENTITLED to an inheritance. My sibs and I are not ENTITLED to an inheritance. We were raised that the money my parents accumulated and saved over the years would be spent to make their retirement as comfortable as possible, and to pay for their medical care in their last years. If there is anything left over, we will inherit it. We believe that our parents’ money will pay for their care, not the TAXPAYERS. I, too, believe, and have made clear to my kids, that the money their father and I have will be spent to make our retirement comfortable and enjoyable, and will pay for OUR medical care in our later years. If there is anything left over, they will get it. I don’t plan for there to be anything left over.
My parents did without and saved all their lives for retirement. My husband and I lived modestly and saved all our lives for our retirement. I expect my children to do the same. I expect my GOVERNMENT to be fiscally responsible and not spend money they don’t have, just like my husband and I are fiscally responsible and don’t spend money we don’t have.
Problem is, as Stansbury research shows, SS recipients in 2010 are receiving a 250% return on funds skimmed from them. 1980 Retiries received on ave.378% “return”, and it was as high as 1280% for the very early ss recipients
….unsustainable in anyones world
So, what you may or may not leave your kids in inheritence in tangible assests, but you are burdening them with SS and Medicare debt that will affect the next 3 generations……..unless simple default on Treas debt happens, and that is a whole nother’ story for the grandchildren.
That isn’t how I see it.
My wife and I had 15% of our income taken from us for Social Security and Medicare for our entire careers. Had we invested that money properly, we’d have a lot more income and a substantial dose of capital and could buy our own health care. I don’t feel like I am getting anything for free with Social Security, I feel I got ripped off by being forced into a crappy government retirement system whose main goal was electing Democrats, not maximizing wealth in my old age.
Not only that, but I am expected to feel grateful for having been screwed.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for the thank you card.
My wife and I worked for decades to build our retirement savings so we won’t be dependent on our children and grandchildren. We did it by investing as much as 30% of our income each year instead of blowing it. We hope to be comfortable in retirement living primarily on the interest. We’ve helped our kids many times while both of us were working but since my wife is now retired, we can’t do that so much any more. Once we’re gone, our kids can have what’s left over, if anything. That’s all they’re entitled to.
I have a Dennis the Menace cartoon in my collection that says it all. Dennis and his friends are in the Mitchell family car, and from the shotgun seat Dennis is looking up at his father and saying, “We’re going to the beach. Wanna drive?”
The whole Lefty thing is predicated on the belief that, regardless of what else happens, Mom and Dad will continue to drive.
What happens when Mom and Dad RETIRE? I say that the only thing we have to do to stop the motors of America is RETIRE. Let TheKids wake up one day and discover that they ARE “The Man” — and let’s see what happens next. I predict massive tantrums worldwide.
What disturbs me about the promotion of birth control is this: western economic systems are designed as a “Ponzi” scheme that succeed only so long as there is an ever increasing population (new entrants into the work force to support retirees). Most of the developed world is faced with a decreasing natural population. The shortfall is being made up increased immigration quotas (muslims in Europe and Mexican/Chinese in tne U.S. None of these are known for embracing a model of small families. The predictable result is the replacement (elimination?)of western culture (the people who through the creation of the industrial revolution did more to improve the human condition in one century than eons of confucianism and mohammadism ever will). Now we have a government who promotes free birth control for all but knowing full well that the major impact will be among the native citizens with the shortfall being made up by ever increasing immigrant quotas. When a government persues an immigration policy with the foreknowlege and full intent of replacing the natural citizens of a nation with foreigners: Is this not treason?
We are all foreigners, even those who were here when Columbus arrived. What is being supplanted is the culture of individual achievement. The poem on the base of the Statue of Liberty should be chiseled off and replaced with Send me your independent minded, those who will not be slaves ! . . .
The left around the world tend to view the Western European and North American first world “white” countries as being responsible for all the evils of the world, for the “inequality” , the plight of the third world, etc. In their opinion this sin can only be forgiven when the populations of these countries are replaced and become “majority minority” so that there are no more “white” countries.
Ain’t it awful? Crying on the shoulders of the faithful may provide some comfort, but it accomplishes little. Conversion is a one on one thing. It is time consuming and frustrating. Engaging someone that does not want to engage is not possible, reality must overtake them. Of course, it may come too late for them. When the crisis comes the faithful will set to work building it back, even with the broken tools.
I was just in Beverly Hills, and the economic “utopia” is easily visible. It’s not hidden at all. On Wilshire Boulevard, many empty stores, broken windows. Through the residential section, empty abandoned houses! Peeling and chipping paint on occupied homes!
What depresses me most about this entire election is that the Democrats have made this whole campaign about abortion and free birth control. Call me crazy, but I think women are more interested in the economy, in their financial futures, and in the overall health of the nation rather than whether or not Uncle Sam is going to give them free birth control pills. And let’s not forget that stupid Obama cartoon “The Life of Julia,” where you had some non-descript female literally depending on the Federal Government for just about everything. You also noticed that in that cartoon there wasn’t a man to be found, ANYWHERE, which tells you a lot about what liberals think about the family unit and marriage. I’m just surprised they didn’t come up with a cartoon called “The Life of Jill and Julia,” showing a lesbian couple and all the many benefits they would be given by a charitable Federal government.
It makes me sick to see Americans treated like slaves, LIKE SLAVES on a plantation, unable to look after themselves and needing some “benevolent” master to take care of them so they’ll stay on the plantation. And you never, EVER, hear liberals telling you who is going to pay for all the “goodies” they want to dole out. Ah yes, just tax the “evil” rich people and all your financial troubles will go away. But, funny, Europe now is literally collapsing and is bankrupt because they just don’t have enough of those “evil” rich people to pay for all those darn social-welfare benefits. Go figure.
And I’ve never seen liberals feel so free to spend MY MONEY. Yes, I said it. MY MONEY. I earned it, I worked long hours for it, I DID build it, and now they WANT it. All of it. For what? So that Sandra Fluke can get free birth control? I don’t think so. Not on my watch. We have one last chance to save this country. That’s it. One chance. If Obama gets a second term (God forbid), Obamacare will stand and we will officially go bankrupt. We will see another Recession not seen since the late 1930s, during the Great Depression, and your kids won’t see a decent job for at least four more years. The future looks way, way, too bleak for most Americans, nor should the accept it as the “new normal.”
Nope, get out there and vote for Romney. Get other people to vote for Romney. Do everything in your power to convince people to vote for Romney. Too much is at stake here and I think Americans are beginning to realize that. We’re about two weeks away from Judgement Day. Only on that day, we have a big say on how things will turn out. Make the most of it.
As independents we are getting deluged daily with mail mini-posters from state and federal candidates. The Democratic ones often show photos of women in jeans and t-shirts screaming – via capital letters – “Mitt Romney wants to control your body!” (by denying me access to birth control.)
I fervently hope the women in my state are not weak enough thinkers to believe that being thrown a few baby carrots on a stick (free birth control) is actually a platform for caring about women. Or that somehow this Administration’s health care initiative is NOT an effort to control our bodies and well-being.
Blessings upon the freedom fighters everywhere.
Dr. Helen’s concerns are all well taken. I too worry about the children of the future. What children of the future, particularly if bc-pills inundate women’s ovaries? The answer is found in math. I will construct a mathematical equation with earthshaking consequences. Behold and wisdom shall dishearten you:
One (1) German man + one (1) German woman = 1.3 children born. 2.1 children per woman is necessary for reproduction of a given group. At current rates, by the end of this century there will be NO more Germans. Simple math. Nothing to argue about. Not quite, because the necessity of math is applied to certain societal values, namely to have 2.1 children per woman or not (= current German value). Now, the value of reproduction in America is being, so to speak, aborted by the Obama real abortion, viz., contraception polices. But said policy will have no effect unless the women of today (probably pushed by men desiring no consequences for the breakdown in their contraceptive techniques) make use of it. It is a woman’s choice. However, it is a choice with earthshaking consequences. In the case of Germans (I live in Germany) I see no inclination to return to larger families (let a couple turn up with 3 or more kids and eco-critique might brazenly present itself at such an offense). What about America?
Here I have no answer as I sit in Germany watching the the evolutionary unfit evaporate towards nothingness. What about America? I cannot answer, though I have the opinion that the intense pushing of bc could well induce a one or no child mentality. (I remember reading somewhere that over 40% of all unborn in America are aborted and some 70% of the black population–sort of a black resolution of the racial problem. Such abortion rates certainly suggest a non-reproductive sexuality.) With a one or no child mentality, all the problems that are stirring up the heart of Dr. Helen are only passing concerns as the contraceptive group, like any other evolutionary unfit, is going to pass away in an orgy of non-reproduction. Dr. Helen’s problems will cease if Americans duplicate the German birth rate. So, take it easy. The unfit will perish, and that includes the Obama-ites. That is the mathematics of evolution, like it or not.
The thing is that leftist policies tend to be the facilitators of the low birth rate, and not just through pushing “free” contraception and abortion. Part of the problem with having a large, or even normal, family in Europe is how expensive everything is. Between the obscene rates of taxation (both income and VAT) and micro-managing regulations that stifle growth, who can afford to have more than one child? Obviously if you want to go the welfare route the government will just pay you to breed, but anybody who wishes to be responsible and provide for their children is sorely constrained by socialist economics. Add to that the general level of despair that socialism brings (I wouldn’t want to subject my own children to being born in a Euro welfare state) and you have a perfect recipe for societal decline.
Howdy Leonard,
Please be of good cheer; my observations:
- Germany is WAAY more crowded than America; I’ve been there many times. Most Americans do not realize just how crowded Germany really is, due to some really gorgeous parks and open spaces in tourist promotions.
- FYI, I’ve seen replacement rates quoted at closer to 2.3 children per woman.
- America has always been relatively open to immigration, and so far most of the ‘loss’ from lower birth rates of ‘native’ born women has been made up that way.
- social views have tradiotionally swung quite a bit in America; we had a huge lurch ‘left’ culturally in the late 60′s and 70′s, but have nioticebaly swung ‘back’ towrds historical norms since then . . . my guess is that we are presently trending toward a more religous society, which will probably encourage more traditional lifestyles and higher birth rates.
Best Regards,
Liberal or conservative you must accept that Obamacare will be populated with gatekeepers denying care recommended by a treating physician as with workers comp. That is our only reliable model. The carriers created the window for OC with their stiff penalties for pre-existing conditions and cutting-off unemployed children at too young an age. OC will stay as long as pre-existing conditions are punished. So, I will park my MB at the shore and watch the sun set. (not really. I’m a guy. We still have to pay for parking).
I think we are reaching the point where the real question will be, “How do I ‘go Galt’? “

Speaking of “things I want to shout to the World before the election” – here’s one:
http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/263141-international-monitors-at-polling-places-draw-criticism-from-voter-fraud-group
The international leftist thugs, armed with Alinsky-ite tactics, try to cover up the actions of their domestic counterparts involved with electoral fraud they consistently perpetrate on the American people (most inner city precinct counts in certain States aren’t worth the paper they are written on) scream foul about minorities’ “voter supression” here in the US.
Boy, Alinsky-ites have gull.

Since Socialized Medicine advocates purport to care about costs, it will be those with the highest medical costs who will suffer the most: Old people and chronically ill people like Diabetics. They will be the first to go–to go home and take a pill as Obama told us
Only if you’re not one of the “protected classes” though. For instance despite HIV treatments costing several hundred thousand per year for the rest of the patient’s life, do you ever see their treatment being limited by the death panels? Of course not, they’ll be first in line. The diseases disproportionately afflicting Democratic special interest constituencies will always be fully covered no matter the cost, it’s people not in one of those protected classes who will have to worry. Don’t believe that “affirmative action” will be applied to our inevitable social medicine spending choices? Think again.
As I posted in a comment on a Yahoo! story about the election: “Hey, if you want the freedom to complain and a better economy, vote for the Republican.” The liberals on there didn’t like that.
All moot if Iran gets a nuclear weapon. To this point, I highly recommend this 15 min video called The Red Line:
