TMZ obtained an email from CNN exec Mark Whitaker to CNN staff regarding criticism of Candy Crowley’s performance moderating the second presidential debate. It’s amusing in its lack of self-awareness.
Let’s start with a big round of applause for Candy Crowley for a superb job under the most difficult circumstances imaginable. She and her team had to select and sequence questions in a matter of hours, and then she had to deal with the tricky format, the nervous questioners, the aggressive debaters, all while shutting out the pre-debate attempts to spin and intimidate her. She pulled it off masterfully.
The reviews on Candy’s performance have been overwhelmingly positive but Romney supporters are going after her on two points, no doubt because their man did not have as good a night as he had in Denver. On the legitimacy of Candy fact-checking Romney on Obama’s Rose Garden statement, it should be stressed that she was just stating a point of fact: Obama did talk about an act (or acts) of terror, no matter what you think he meant by that at the time. On why Obama got more time to speak, it should be noted that Candy and her commission producers tried to keep it even but that Obama went on longer largely because he speaks more slowly. We’re going to do a word count to see whether, as in Denver, Romney actually got more words in even if he talked for a shorter period of time.
“No matter what you think he meant by that at the time.” Word count. Ain’t Candy grand?
Heh.
Update: CNN is gonna need a bigger memo.

Crowley made some mistakes, but she sure doesn’t need the likes of this defense from Whitacker, what a maroon. Whitacker is obviously one of the empty suits that make CNN what it is today, a withering branch of the government controlled media. Note that just today Newsweak announced they are going to stop distributing on dead trees in a few months.
I know I’m not the only one. But, I’m almost positive that Obama colluded with Candy Crowley about the Libya question. It’s the only logical explanation to explain why Obama would be supremely confident that Candy would support him in COMPLETE DISREGARD for HER AND CNN’S PREVIOUS position on when his administration declared Benghazi to be a terrorist attack. And, make no mistake, Obama was SUPREMELY confident. Check out the smile on his face during the exchange with Romney. Given Candy’s and CNN’s previous reporting about Benghazi, he should have been sweating bullets. But, no. He is smiling and positively giddy, almost like he knew what was coming.
Congratulations, CC, you’ll be remembered for only one thing– injecting yourself into a debate to help a sitting President with the most contentious issue of the campaign.
Your colleagues may give you a big round of applause now, but you know it was hollow and already has ebbed into silence. History will be very unkind to you; in fact, you may become a striking example to historians of all that was wrong with journalism in the early 21st century. Get in line with the thousands of others used and discarded by Dear Leader.
Hope it was worth it.
I am so looking forward to Crowley being a washed up has-been in a dead industry that nobody places any faith in anymore.
Oh, wait…..lol.
CNN and Obama acolytes (but I repeat myself) are probably thinking the Libya exchange was a pivotal moment – and they are right.
It’s just not pivotal in the way they are thinking.
I submit instead that it will be seen as pivotal to future students of history in the sense that this moment was when even the most deluded or uninformed citizen discovered just how biased their media sources were.
Any credibility they had left is toast.
“Obama did talk about an act (or acts) of terror, no matter what you think he meant by that at the time.”
Yeah, sure. And a sign that reads “Private Property? No. Fishing Allowed.” shows respect for private property rights.
All MSM nabobs and factota thinks they can parse words with the alacrity of the Clintonistas. They always fail. Every. Single. Time!
Her name will be remembered alongside that of Reverend Dr. Samuel Burchard, who in the election of 1884, made the “rum, Romanism and rebellion” slur that cost Blaine the election.
Candy did a terrific job. All the negativity is coming from the sore losers- the talking heads guarding the inhabitants of Bullsh*t Mountain from rejoining the world of the sane. Fox News is a propaganda machine which dumbs down America by the day through disinformation and their slanted agendas. See their anchors spewing forth feces from their mouths in my visual homage to the network on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-fox-news-scylla-guardian-of-bullsht.html
I take such great joy in imagining how spastic you are going to be early in the evening on November 7, 2012 as your imaginary world comes into direct contact with reality.
Seriously, I do.
