NBC pollster Chuck Todd appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” today and said he has seen data showing that the presidential race has undergone a “structural change” since the first debate. That change gives hope to Romney and his supporters.
TODD: I have to say, in the private data that I’ve heard about over the last couple of days, the last 72 hours, plus what you’re seeing, I feel like there has been a structural shift. We’re no longer in this “It’s even, but, the president has these advantages.” The “but the president has these advantages in the battleground states” I think is gone. I mean, yes the president has an advantages in Ohio, but we’re starting to see a consistent, very narrow, a Romney lead in places like Florida. We’re seeing Colorado dead even. Iowa closing. So I think that there is something structural that happened.
I have an idea of what’s driving that structural change. Romney used the first debate to make the sale to voters who are dissatisfied with Obama but had not yet met Mitt. They met him at that debate, and they liked him. He was nothing like the evil caricature that the Obama campaign had presented of him. He was energetic and informed, while Obama was ill-informed and out of his depth. Romney’s performance gave many voters the permission they were looking for, to fire Obama.
If my hunch is right, Obama will have a very hard time overcoming that image from the first debate. He lost a whole lot of ground. He may come out more aggressive, as his campaign has said he will, but if he is aggressive while he is also full of the same empty rhetoric he offered last time, he will come off as another Joe Biden.
More: So the debate pushed a few undecideds into deciding. What about the rest? Try…HypnoRomney!

Another telling hint the internal data is not matching the Leftist psyops polling. If Chuck Todd is saying “Romney is ahead” the reality is probably “Romney is slam-dunking in Obama’s grill.”
Though we should all still behave as if we’re down.
Good attitude to have. Sometimes I feel as if the black voters (but by no means excluding the bureucrats, greens, and the hispanic voters) are laying low and are prepared to get ghetto fabulously obnoxious on the actual Election day. High Early voting turnout in Oabma-friendly territory in Ohio may mean 1 of 2 things: 1. Scared whites may be choosing to avoid the Nov. 6 mayhem; or 2. Blacks are still in the tank and might dispatch themselves to other swing states (e.g. vote a second time) on election day.
I have a feeling that Bill Clinton is about to send Obama back to Hawaii or Papua New Guinea or wherever (behind the scenes of course.) I think there will be much less of a chance of voting shenanigans in that case.
Democrats are a coalition between race/class special interests, domestic and international collectivists, and crony CEOs. Bill and Hillary have way more pull among the crony CEOs than Obama ever has.
Problem is, Romney will probably end up beholden to Clinton’s cronies in some way and we will not get a President Romney wearing his conservative mask.
The MSM is starting to hedge their bets. If they consistently called Obama ahead all the way through the election, and we have a repeat of 1980, then who would ever listen to these guys again?
Everything right now is so mealy-mouthed: “undergoing structural change?”
You aren’t building a bridge, you are asking people how they are going to vote.
I’d expect that after the second debate, when they call it a draw, that the numbers for Obama will continue to slide.
Spot on, TMG. Any MSM poll showing Obama ahead by 6 pts means a tie, and if it has Romney down by fewer than 6 or leading, it means Obama’s clock is getting cleaned. I love the euphemism ‘structural change; it means Obama’s house of straw is experiencing gale-force winds.
I don’t believe a word Chuck Toad says. One interpretation is that he decided to be a jounalist for a brief moment. But it’s more likely he is setting up the OBAMA COMES ROARING BACK meme, because they can’t paint him as the comeback kid if he isn’t coming back from something.
– are a joke, but if O going to be more aggressive, watchers will wonder why he isn’t that way with Putin; then again, why would they want such a hothead to deal with Putin.
I had a horrifying dream the other night, in which Putin was speaking at the UN with President Biden mugging and laughing on the sidelines. The icy stare wasn’t going to be the only thing coming our way.
One watcher in fifty will make the (Obama:Putin) connection, unfortunately.
Probably 80-90% of the audience NOW was NOT paying attention, none, nadda, a bit over two weeks ago.
