After Obama’s reaction to last week’s debacle in Denver, David Axelrod must have asked himself if The Won hadn’t taken a few too many drags on the choom.
President Barack Obama did not take his debate preparation seriously, ignored the advice of senior aides and walked off the stage in Denver believing he had got the better of Mitt Romney, according to a Democrat close to the Obama campaign.
The Democrat said that Obama’s inner circle was dismayed at the ‘disaster’ that the first presidential debate had turned out to be and believed that the central problem was that the President was so disdainful of Romney that he didn’t believe he needed to engage with him.
‘President Obama made it clear he wanted to be doing anything else – anything – but debate prep,’ the Democrat said. ‘He kept breaking off whenever he got the opportunity and never really focused on the event.
Plus, he came armed with lousy ideas backed up by zero facts.
‘He went into the debate armed with a number of one-liners to throw at Romney, including at least two about Romney not caring about 47 per cent of the country. But he decided not to use them.’
The Democrat, who is aligned with the Obama campaign and has been an unofficial adviser on occasions, said that David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist, was stunned that the President left the stage feeling that he had won the debate.
Wow.

A product of the self-esteem indoctrination courses. He’s probably been told he’s won at everything his entire life.
Boom RJ,
Right on the button
Nice
Anyone else thinking “Dunning Kruger”?
http://two-masters.blogspot.com/2012/04/dunning-kruger-effect-on-barack-obama.html
It made me think of C.S. Lewis. “A moderately bad man knows he is not very good, a thoroughly bad man thinks he is just fine.”
Obama walking away from the podium with Michelle.
Michelle Obama gave a side glare at Mitt Romney as he smiled collectin his papers while Barack Obama stood to the side not looking at either thinking:
Barack Obama’s thoughts – Good we ended on time. Time to get back to the hotel for a good dinner and watch the evening news on reactions to the debate, wait why is everyone frowning …
Safely in the mobile bunker that is the President’s vehicle he gets the bad news.
BO: What do you mean I did terrible?
DA: Are you watching this?
MSNBC Chris Matthews: Romney is winning!!!
BO: What!? *Flips off the television*
Michelle remains silent.
DA: CNN insta-polls show over 60% of views say you lost.
BO: *Sigh* I knew I should have used the 47% line … so what what do you think we should do?
Silence.
BO: David … you still there?
DA: Yes Mr. President. You have a rally tomorrow, I’ll get the boys to write something up for you.
BO: Good, something about not really debating Romney.
DA: The real Mitt Romney wasn’t there, thank you Mr. President.
Barack looks over at Michelle … BO:Was it really that bad?
Michelle remains silent.
Wrong about Michelle. She bawled him out all the way in the back of the limo.
Are you suggesting that Michelle is his “control?”
No, Valerie Jarrett, the real POTUS was the one going batshit. Did you see Biden trying to make up for it? What a freaking moron.
Note from DA to BO: Lay off the weed for the next few weeks.
The thing is, both sides of the American political system are populated by sharks.
And when smell loser in the water, they begin to circle.
Yo! Except michelle can’t stay silent for long. She carries the stick in the family. She trashed him.
Word of caution – never embarrass a black woman in public.
Boy, did she look pissed when they were walking off the stage.
Obama Thought He had WON the Debate…Until Aides Told Him He had Lost!
Typical Liberal. So stuck on themselves and their” belief” that they and only they are ever correct.
With any luck he will be unemployed soon!
Obama knew he lost big. He’s conning his own team now. What a creep.
Typical “Progressive.” They feel self-righteous and self-justified because they hate conservatives, middle-class, bourgeoisie, self-made people, or “anybody who is not like them.” Like the religious zealots of Jesus’ days, their unexamined lives and premises, their unquestioned dogmas, their self-righteous hate blinds them to their own flaws and weaknesses. They are, as Jesus called them, “whited sepulchers, filled with rotting dead men’s bones.” And America not only saw a peak inside thye heart of liberalism, but got a whiff of it, gagged, and switched votes.
Seems to me that if all this is true, especially the last sentence about Axelrod, it’s fantastic news!
1. It’ll have a negative effect upon his campaign staff, but more important;
2. It could have a devastating effect upon Obama. Perhaps not visible in public, but a dangerous crack in the internal facade. A voice whispering in the night ….
We can only hope.
Obama wasn’t off his game. Obama is off his toot.
“Obama Thought He had WON the Debate…Until Aides Told Him He had Lost!”
I’m willing to bet he /still/ thinks he won and that all the people who keep saying otherwise are just too stupid and obtuse to see it.
They are still in denial of how flaky the Teleprompteur is, for that they threw John Kerry under the bus, and hoisted Big Bird as their best hope to win.
They are out-onioning Onion.
“according to a Democrat close to the Obama campaign.”
It would be nice if this could be corroborated with a name.
yes it always would be. unfortunately in this case if the name is public, the source is fired. so it goes. now you have to see if you trust the journalist to be telling the truth.
If Barack Obama thinks Mittt Romney is beneath contempt, then how does he explain the way the military vote is breakng down?
Obama thinks the military is beneath contempt as well. It is obviously overpopulated with people who tend to cling to their guns and religion. He is working towards getting more mult-culti, touchy-feely people into the leadership of the armed forces. Just look at the disgraceful performances of Gen. Dempsey. I served in the Marine Corps for over 10 years, and I just about want to cry when I see what BHO has done to the US military. I am proud of my service (1980′s-early 90′s) but I honestly would not encourage my son to enlist or accept a commission in any of the armed services as they stand today.
My suspicion is that the contempt Obama displayed for Romney extends to pretty well all Americans. The man’s entire life history is a testament to his hatred for America, Americans and everything they stand for. Moreover, his campaign strategy not only insults his supporter but is indeed predicated on the assumption that they are both stupid and gullible.
To be realistic, this is Obama’s 4th year as President. He has never lasted more than 4 years at any job. His every fibre is to move up to a higher level where he can do ‘more’ to ‘change things.’ President of the US is pretty much the apex of power, but … what about head Caliph in Cairo?
what a shock
who knew that Choom Boy was an arrogant fool? who could have imagined that he is too lazy to prepare for the most important event of the campaign? who suspected that without Telus, he can’t frame a coherant sentance? who could have ciphered that when faced with a real opponent instead of a herd of butt boys that he would fold his cards and make funny faces?
what a shock
And I thought the “Clueless” reunion was about a week ago on GMA. If the debate were scored on smirks, he’d have won it going away.
As others have said, Michelle could tell how poorly he’d done, her expression was telling. Looking forward to all the remaining debates.
I posted this some months ago, but here it is again, from Abbott’s Flatland. Obama to a T.
“Look yonder,” said my Guide, “in Flatland thou hast lived; of Lineland thou hast received a vision; thou hast soared with me to the heights of Spaceland; now, in order to complete the range of thy experience, I conduct thee downward to the lowest depth of existence, even to the realm of Pointland, the Abyss of No dimensions.
“Behold yon miserable creature. That Point is a Being like ourselves, but confined to the non-dimensional Gulf. He is himself his own World, his own Universe; of any other than himself he can form no conception; he knows not Length, nor Breadth, nor Height, for he has had no experience of them; he has no cognizance even of the number Two; nor has he a thought of Plurality; for he is himself his One and All, being really Nothing. Yet mark his perfect self-contentment, and hence learn this lesson, that to be self-contented is to be vile and ignorant, and that to aspire is better than to be blindly and impotently happy. Now listen.”
He ceased; and there arose from the little buzzing creature a tiny, low, monotonous, but distinct tinkling, as from one of your Spaceland phonographs, from which I caught these words, “Infinite beatitude of existence! It is; and there is none else beside it.”
“What,” said I, “does the puny creature mean by `it’?” “He means himself,” said the Sphere: “have you not noticed before now, that babies and babyish people who cannot distinguish themselves from the world, speak of themselves in the Third Person? But hush!”
“It fills all Space,” continued the little soliloquizing Creature, “and what It fills, It is. What It thinks, that It utters; and what It utters, that It hears; and It itself is Thinker, Utterer, Hearer, Thought, Word, Audition; it is the One, and yet the All in All. Ah, the happiness ah, the happiness of Being!”
“Can you not startle the little thing out of its complacency?” said I. “Tell it what it really is, as you told me; reveal to it the narrow limitations of Pointland, and lead it up to something higher.” “That is no easy task,” said my Master; “try you.”
Hereon, raising my voice to the uttermost, I addressed the Point as follows:
“Silence, silence, contemptible Creature. You call yourself the All in All, but you are the Nothing; your so-called Universe is a mere speck in a Line, and a Line is a mere shadow as compared with -” “Hush, hush, you have said enough,” interrupted the Sphere, now listen, and mark the effect of your harangue on the King of Pointland.”
The lustre of the Monarch, who beamed more brightly than ever upon hearing my words, shewed clearly that he retained his complacency; and I had hardly ceased when he took up his strain again. “Ah, the joy, ah, the joy of Thought! What can It not achieve by thinking! Its own Thought coming to Itself suggestive of Its disparagement, thereby to enhance Its happiness! Sweet rebellion stirred up to result in triumph! Ah, the divine creative power of the All in One! Ah, the joy, the joy of Being!”
“You see,” said my Teacher, “how little your words have done. So far as the Monarch understands them at all, he accepts them as his own – for he cannot conceive of any other except himself – and plumes himself upon the variety of `Its Thought’ as an instance of creative Power. Let us leave this God of Pointland to the ignorant fruition of his omnipresence and omniscience; nothing that you or I can do can rescue him from his self-satisfaction.”
It’s Valerie Jarrett’s job to protect Obama from this kind of exposure. In his little circle, he’s still the greatest, still the god-like being people said he was in ’08. No one is allowed in who would disabuse him of this notion.
A commenter at Ace had a good point: In debate prep, Rob Portman most likely was able to make a better case for liberals than they ordinarily make for themselves. That’s how well conservatives understand them. Liberals, on the other hand, do not understand conservatives at all and no doubt John Kerry did a piss-poor job of presenting the conservative case. They apparently did not expect the Romney who showed up nor the arguments he made on behalf of his platform. They live in a dream world where they construct straw men who are easily disposed of. It’s not that they don’t know anything; it’s that so much of what they know is wrong.
Maybe Bill Maher was right about what Obama did with his million dollar contribution…..just wow.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
