Boldly going where the Obama administration won’t.
“Under the circumstances, Canada can no longer maintain a diplomatic presence in Iran,” Baird said Friday. “Our diplomats serve Canada as civilians and their safety is our No. 1 priority.”
Baird said the Iranian regime’s support of Syrian president Bashar Assad, Iran’s refusal to comply with the UN’s resolutions on its nuclear program and its regular threats to Israel make it a significant threat to global peace.
“It is among the world’s worst violators of human rights; and it shelters and materially supports terrorist groups,” said Baird in a statement.
“Moreover, the Iranian regime has shown blatant disregard for the Vienna Convention and its guarantee of protection for diplomatic personnel.”
Baird said diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran have been suspended and all Canadian diplomatic staff have fled the country.
From Commentary:
Kudos to Canada which, as with the UN’s anti-Semitic Durban Conference and a host of other issues, has consistently embraced a foreign policy rooted in values and a no-nonsense approach to terrorism. If only President Obama would demonstrate the same seriousness of purpose.

Im sure its all just a scheduling coincidence, but there just happens to be not one, or two but three US Navy carrier battle groups in the Persian Gulf( Enterprise, Eisenhower and now Stennis).
The Enterprise is scheduled to be decommissioned on December 1st. The Stennis was called back into theater deployment 4 months earlier than planned.
Im sure its just a coincidence. Nothing to get excited about. Nothing at all.
Too bad Canada and the United States doesn’t have the guts to get out of the U.N. altogether. Would see some mighty big changes around the world if they did. Akmamonkeyja is a menace to civil society as is Assad.
As we are pleased to recall, it was the Canadian embassy that sheltered our diplomats who evaded capture when the Iranians took our embassy hostage. And the Canadian government issued passports to them so they could leave the country. Yea Canada and well done!
