—apologies to William Blake and “Jerusalem”
And did those feet, ere election
Once walk before the Western Wall?
And did the president-to-be
E’en then plan Netanyahu’s fall?
Did his anti-colonial mind
Then clench the fist of his left hand
And dream Jerusalem held entire
By murderous Palestinians?
“Bring me my club of foreign aid!
“Bring appeasement to the UN!
“Bring a blind eye now to al-Qaed’!
“Bring the old borders up again!
“I will not cease to temporize
“Nor oppose nuclear Iran
“Till Arabs wrest Jerusalem
“From Israel’s devastated land.”

“Ed Klein … says Jeremiah Wright told him that he made it ‘comfortable for him [Obama] to accept Christianity without having to renounce his Islamic background.’ ”

I’ve never subscribed to the seekrit Muslim hypothesis, but I must admit, since that column, I’ve begun to wonder.
Might Barack (abandoned by his birth father and later by his mother, et cetera) have always felt a warmth for those days in Indonesia? The child in us often hearkens back to a better time. If Indonesia was happy for him, it would be very understandable.
I’m not saying he’s Muslim. His narcissism is 180 degrees out from Islamic submission to the Divine, and as a child he wouldn’t have received a full Islamic education — just a smattering. (Lord only knows what Barack’s concept of Islam is.) Childhood memories and affinities do not a committed Faith make.
But then there is the trip he made to Pakistan in 1981, which he later de-emphasized to the point of attempting a cover-up. That could have been unconnected. However, Zia-ul-Haq had assumed power in 1979 and was in the process of Islamizing Pakistani society. It might be interesting to know exactly how aware college-age kneejerk-radical Barack was of that.
All I can say is Five Stars.
It’s all too true.
Most excellent work on this one!
Bravo, buzz.
Bravo!
Sorry it took me so long to find it!
Excellent! +++++++++++
Brilliant.
But sad — it seems that the Democrats have found, like their dictator idols past and present, that stoking up hatred against the Jews is an easy way to avoid facing up to unpalatable truths. The Arab world is a sink hole not because a few thousand Jews created a new state in 1948; the Arab world began the slide into economic, social, and political failure six centuries ago — arguably eleven centuries ago if one looks at Egypt. And the cause of that failure has been the deep corruption of their civilization, and the most obvious sign of that corruption is their treatment of women.
Arab travelers to the West from the Middle Ages onward noted the liberty that European women enjoyed. They were utterly shocked at the way that men would let women walk through doors ahead of them, would doff their hats to them, would in other ways show them respect. From the Muslim perspective this was a total inversion of the proper order and a sign of Western “decadence.”
It is easy for modern feminists to point out the manifest inequalities in gender relations in Western history, but they gloss over the even grosser inequalities and murderous oppression of women in other cultures. Moreover, they ignore the fact that there has been historically a greater impulse to establishing gender equity in the western world than anywhere else. Indeed, only in the West, under the influence of Christianity and Capitalism, did anyone actually CARE to THINK about political liberty and equality of any kind.
As has happened too many times in the past, the blind, petulant, solipsistic and reflexive hatred of radicals against their own civilization and culture is redirected against the Jews, simultaneously demonized as an “alien” element of uncertain loyalty and as the reification of the worst aspects of the civilization they are supposedly not a part of. Meanwhile, the Jews stand condemned for not being morally above their enemies to the point that they willingly bare their throats to the blade. It is an old ideological gambit and it gets no less sickening when preached by the oh-so caring denizens of the left.
And now we have a president who appears himself to be fully in league with the latest crop of anti-Semites, neatly repackaged as “anti-Zionism.” And the distraction plays nicely to his chosen audience — feminists and their allies — who, by hating Jews, are able to avoid facing the realities that they live in a country and a culture that is far more supportive of women than any other and that their allies in the war against Israel are the worst misogynists to have walked the earth.
Aristotle would see this as, simultaneously, a defect of reason (reason overcome by emotion) and courage — in this case the adolescent demand for perfection in an imperfect world, the sort of idealism that leads one to ignore evil and let it have its way since the perfect cannot be achieved. It is, for Aristotle, the attitude of the spoiled thirteen-year-old. And it is now the platform of the Democratic Party.
Excellent as always, Buzz!
