Once again, Tatler fans have proven to be a most creative, hilarious and intelligent audience based on the submissions we received for this photo caption contest of Obama’s rain damaged sand sculpture at the DNC.
After much deliberating, here are winners chosen by a really famous ( infamous?) Republican political consultant who knows a thing or two about slogans and messaging.
Damn George W. Bush and Evil Weather Machine. Submitted by Dede
My name’s God, and I approve this message. Submitted by Brenda Watkins
I built me. Submitted by Mr. Lucky
Shovel ready project. Submitted by DawninCFL and also by Mike McNally
Starting the convention off right with a shovel-ready project. Submitted by RJ
Now, since the advice of highly paid Republican political consultants is often ignored, I will continue that trend by selecting these next four submissions as the Official Photo Caption Contest Winners.
This monument made possible by Technology developed by Solyndra. Submitted by Ted Whittenkraus
Good thing the rise of the oceans have begun to slow. Submitted by Chris Henderson
Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain, telling me just what a fool I’ve been… Submitted by Tortillapete
And the grand prize winner of priceless PR is….
Our sources tell us that actually the sculpture has been hit by an empty chair.

I love your name and your caption!
Thanks to all who played along and we will see you next time a photo is worthy of a Tatler Photo Caption Contest. Of course with the DNC happening this week, I have a feeling that might be very soon.

There has been a lot of talk about the narcissism of Obama, but (being closer to the inside than average citizens) I have a more banal view – it’s branding. Obama isn’t personally ordering pictures of himself everywhere, placing campaign iconography over the “traditional” party images, It’s the campaign staff run by professional marketing folk that believe branding is everything – add enough references to your product around and people will associated your product with good things. Only this case the “product” is an administration so it’s more creepy than just your average ad campaigns for a soft drink or whatever.
Narcissism will play a part though – It’s possible that Obama is buying into his own press and having marketing yes-men isn’t helping.
“Our sources tell us that actually the sculpture has been hit by an empty chair.”
Rainmore was Eastwooded?
whatever one thinks of Obama, he is a good looking man. This sculpture portrays an ugly man. Strange.
Too late for contest but my caption would be”the foolish man built his house upon the sand”
Thank you and thank you !!!
(Mumbling to himself, because he forgot the code for HEARTS)
Oh well
You are welcome welcome. Your entry had me laughing ou loud and yelling for my husband to come read it.
As I wrote in the post, I love your name. From is your nationality?
And the theme song is….
Blame it on the Rain – by Milli Vanilli *
*Grammy apparently has more honor than Nobel. They asked for it back.
Ah, I wonder if the Nobel committee has reconsidered? He’s only fought three wars, personally authorized executions (including his own citizens for the bonus!) and failed to do anything about peace in the Middle East. Maybe it’s for removing the Soviet threat to the Fulda Gap? Oh, wait, wrong President.
What is it with Dems/lefties and their obsession with their personality cults and the need to have scupltures, etc????
