Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz tangled with CNN’s Anderson Cooper yesterday over how much Mitt Romney had to do with the GOP platform on abortion that is broader than the candidate’s personal views.
“Mitt Romney’s words are very nice. But the bottom line is that, his campaign just directed the Republican Party platform to include the most restrictive constitutional amendment that would say to women that you would have no opportunity to make your own reproductive choices under any circumstances even in the case of rape or incest,” Wasserman Schultz said.
“Mitt Romney did not design or direct the writing of the Republican Party platform. The line — in particular, the language on abortion is virtually the same as has been for years. Are you saying that he wrote in 2000 and 2004?” Cooper argued. “And 2008? Because it’s the same language and according to our reporters who were in the room as the platform was being discussed. People could suggest changes, and the Romney did suggest changes to a few sections but they didn’t say anything about the abortion language. You can fault them as you did for not pushing their position. But you can’t say that they designed the abortion section.”
“In fact, Anderson, we definitely can say it,” Wasserman Schultz retorted. “Because even in the previous platform, Mitt Romney has embraced previous Republican Party platforms and embraced that language, and said he’d be delighted to support a constitutional amendment banning all abortion. He supported personhood amendments.”
Cooper noted that “for years, you have to acknowledge, he has for years publicly said that he supports abortion in the case of rape, incest and where the life of the mother is at stake.”
“I can certainly acknowledge that he says that out loud,” the DNC chairwoman replied. “And I think it’s very clear that Mitt Romney talks the talk, certainly doesn’t walk the walk.”

DWS came across sounding much like Cynthia McKinney; doggedly clutching those talking points despite their being proven fraudulent and attempting to overtalk any attempts by the interviewer to point out that fact.
Is there something in the water at DNC HQ?
DWS — debating while schultzing — should be a crime.
Actually, it reminded me more of Dan Rather. Or maybe the Duke gang of 88. Damn the facts, because there’s a “larger truth”.
Cynthia McKinney, now that is a blast from the past, those heady days of the Clinton administration matched against a Republican congress with McKinney on C-Span spewing her hatefull race baiting ignorance. She was slightly ahead of her time.
And now…thank God…she’s been dissed by her own. A hateful, racist freakoid if there ever was one. We try…they keep spewing hate. Keep that in mind friend.
We can’t ever win.
We have two countries…that’s a fact…thanks to the great “uniter”..the fraud…the racist in chief…Odummer and Moochele.
Blitzer attacked her earlier in the week too.
Then there was that report that she’s not liked in the White House and in a recent internal poll she comes out on the bottom of insiders for likeability.
My guess is that CNN got the word from the White House to marginalize her and this is the start of it.
If the attacks spread, we’ll know the fix is in.
Somebody do the world a favor and just duct-tape that woman’s mouth SHUT. The world would be a better place instantly.
Nope…let’s get a hacker to kill her credit cards and her Bloomie charge card…..I know where she shops….Adventura mall…in the tribal ghetto. She won’t survive without her Amex or DNC card.
Ives Dairy Road….the ghetto for those like DWS.
After years of debating liberal colleagues I can with confidence say that a majority of liberals do not believe that objective truth exists. Things only have meaning in relation to some other construct: gender, social class, cultural heritage, religious tradition, etc. This allows them to bounce from hillock to hillock and still claim they are adhering to a consistent position. They can with a straight face and all earnestness parse words and split hairs (what does “is” mean?). They don’t recognize that something might exist between the fire and the cave wall. This brings us the Wasserman Shultzes.
Exhibit “A”: the Niall Ferguson flap. Ferguson totally demolishes his critics by any objective standards, and the critics say “I win”. In their own minds they did.
Liberls/progressives are certainly relativists. Were this not true their intellectual dishonesty would cause their heads to violently explode.
You want to really blow a lefty’s mind? Remind them that those “social constructs” are just that – a set of constructs. That is to say, they’re fakery and puffery, completely nonexistent, related to the real world by approximately the square root of jack.
Better take along a *big* umbrella for that one.
Debbie is so chirpy and upbeat. She’s really a Wasserman Positive.
Gotta love the “Debster” doing the Deb thing, disassembling with alacrity.
The only thing she doesn’t do in the exchange with Cooper is cover her ears, stamp her feet, and scream “la, la, la, la, la, la!” when Cooper, to his credit, quotes her some facts. Facts are inconvenient things to Democrats.
She’s the 1st 5 year old to become chairperson of a national commitee. I am praying she remains in command for the next 50 years.
Careful what you wish for. I’d be happier if her constituents saw the light and did something totally unexpected this November. Now THAT would be news.
Debbie ‘straw man’ wasserface
The ends justify the means to make my point, facts not required (summation of her point).
The video was most insightful.
Telling the truth is sooooooo old-fashioned. It’s the narrative that matters.
Whoa! Thar pardner! Ah do declare! Thar’s a funny pattern goin’ on here! By damn!
Here are three seemingly unrelated stories, reported in the press, showing: 1)crony-capitalism, 2)rampant fiscal and economic fraud and 3)voter fraud on a scale never witnessed before in these USA…just like in a “Soviet-style” command, control top down, nationalized, ultra centralized economy in the hands of a few White House operatives (DWS style of lying?)
1) crony-capitalism
[A]s Hoover Institution scholar Peter Schweizer reported in his book, “Throw Them All Out,” fully 71 percent of the Obama Energy Department’s grants and loans went to “individuals who were bundlers, members of Obama’s National Finance Committee, or large donors to the Democratic Party.” Collectively, these Obama cronies raised $457,834 for his campaign, and they were in turn approved for grants or loans of nearly $11.35 billion. Obama said this week it’s not the president’s job “to make a lot of money for investors.” Well, he sure seems to have made a lot of (taxpayer) money for investors in his political machine. This doesn’t address: AIG, Citibank, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, JP Moragn, Countrywide, Ameriquest to name a few who collectively bundled $735,771 for Obama’s 2007/08 run for office.
2)Rampant fraud and waste
(22 Aug. 2012) In May 2011, Greg Martin (executive director of communications strategy for Government Motors) said that Shanghai GM “is a completely separate and distinct business entity based in China that has no organizational or financial ties whatsoever” with the Detroit company. “It is not GM” Martin said then. “It is not GM money. And it is in no shape or form, or indirectly, taxpayer money.” In July 2012, Martin said Shanghai GM is GM … We make money, they make money.” Why the contradictory statements? In 2011, he wanted to convince taxpayers that bailout money was not being spent in China. In 2012, he wanted to make sure sales in China were included in GM’s total. Toyota bounced back from safety recalls and natural disasters, selling 4.97 million vehicles globally in the first half of the year to retake its crown as the world’s top vehicle maker from GM. (Sources: 25 July 2012 The Globe and Mail)Taxpayers still on the hook for this shell game!
3) Voter fraud uncovered August 2012
(21 Aug. 2012) While NAACP Pres. Benjamin Jealous lashed out at new state laws requiring photo ID for voting, NAACP Executive Committee (Tunica County, Miss.) member Lessadolla Sowers was sentenced to 5 years for fraudulently casting 10 absentee ballots, including 6 living and 4 dead people. Her DNA was found on the inner seals of 5 envelopes containing absentee ballots. She had previously been sentenced to 3 years for check forgery. Out of 325 voter registration cards filed by the NAACP in Cleveland, 48 were flagged as fraudulent. At least 54 employed by or associated with ACORN have been convicted of voter fraud. (Source: 29 July 2012 DC)And there’s more to come.
And this administration would have Americans believe they’re as pure as the “wind driven snow?” Al Capone wears a halo next to this Band of thugs and criminals “Occupying” the White House!!!
Vote massively for massive fraud is upon We The People. God Save America! Amen.
This whole argument on reproductive rights is bogus. Women have a reproductive choice… It is get pregnant or not, there is no other choice, a woman has only two choices to pick from. Once the baby is conceived it is now about a life and death choice, the reproduction choice has already been made at this point. The democrat pro-choice party plank should be Save a murder kill a baby…because they care more about murderers.
Sorry, but mentality like this, the “turbo religion” will put Obama back in office.
Do you believe that, if a woman has been forcibly raped and becomes pregnant as a result, that she should be required to have that baby? If so, please explain this to me. I need more help to understand this Akin character and he appears to believe the same thing.
You and the numbskull above you need to read #9 again. Cowsafety31 is NOT saying anything about restricting or banning abortion or denying a woman’s right to an abortion. Cowsafety31 is saying that to have an abortion is now about life and death.
Reading comprehension is such a useful tool.
Look, if a woman wants an abortion, go ahead, but she should have to pay for it herself or get her partner to pony up the money. In the case of rape and incest or whatever the reason be my guest and if she is indigent the state should help.
But I draw the line at infanticide-murdering a baby during the third trimester. You lefties can spin this all you want, but murder is murder. And if not then why charge double murder for the killing of a baby during pregnancy if the baby does not have constitutional protections. I am giving you the first two trimesters to satisfy your bloodlust and as a token of bipartanship.
Can’t have it both ways….
The lefties either don’t have a grasp on the English language or they are trying to change the meaning of words. See they need to use the term reproductive rights to deflect what abortion really is. They know it is killing a baby… But they are a party of “don’t take responsibility”. Their party platform wouldn’t make sense if it did not use different terminology for each issue. For example, they challenge lethal injection as a method for executing murders and even challenging the death penalty all together. In one case they are against killing life and the other they have no problem. It is funny how the criminals get the benefit of the doubt with lefties. Babies don’t have even a fighting chance. Sick and barbaric. Pro-choice people are barbarians… No better than Hitler or Stalin.
Well, there is a simple answer if you really want it:
No matter how conceived, the baby is not the guilty party, and does not deserve death.
Whether the emotional suffering of the mother trumps the right of the baby to live is an appropriate discussion to have. However, the baby is NEVER the guilty party!

WHAT is with the poodle hairstyle? How does Debbie WS expect to be taken seriously with all those girly-curls bouncing around her head?
I know, it’s a shallow criticism, but if I go any deeper on her, I might draw blood.
This lady is a despicable character and I don’t know how even the Dems can tolerate her. Every time she opens her mouth she is lying and vilifying Romney, Ryan and the Repubs. She is just horrible to listen to. Anybody watching her talk on any of these TV news outlets can see she is just lying through her teeth!!
The Mormon Church is absolutely clear that abortion is allowed in for the big three reasons – 1)rape 2)incest 3)life of mother. It’s in the Handbook of Instructions for leaders. The language is clear and there is no confusion.
Most Mormons seems to base their view of abortion on the Church’s well established position. I would guess that Mitt is no different. To suggest that what he says is not what he believes goes against all reason – especially for those that like to claim Mormons blindly obey everything the Church says.
I am tired of the worn out ‘right to choose for my own body’ BS…..once a woman conceives, it ceases to be just HER body any longer. I am also tired of calling abortion supporters ‘pro choice’ – call it what it is and stop sugar coating the disgustingly obvious: they are not ‘pro choice’, they are ‘pro DEATH’.
150 years ago we fought the most devastating conflict in our nation’s history – the American Civil War – to preserve the Union and to ensure that ALL men are free to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. 750,000 Americans died in that war. How can we still allow this barbaric practice to kill so many innocent American babies every year? Regardless of the circumstances leading to conception…..none of them are the child’s fault.
Not sure what the Civil War has to do with abortions.
I’m a little tired of this whole deal. When I received an email from Sandra Fluke (from the Obama campaign), I just had to respond. I know it went back into neverland at Obama’s HQ, but I felt better.
Here’s a link to the limited email exchange. http://samschaos.blogspot.com/2012/08/calm-down-lets-try-to-talk-this-out.html
Excellent response, Sam.
However, as you’d mentioned regarding a ‘rebuttal’ – don’t hold your breath!
There is something here that is a mirror image of the classic “dog that did not bark in the night”.
Put these concepts together, and see if you also notice any cognitive dissonance.
1) Anderson Cooper.
2) on CNN
3) put forth a connected, relevant argument.
4) AGAINST the ravings of Debbie Wasserman Shultz; who is the Democrats’ equivalent of the “Mouth of Sauron” [there has got to be a Photoshop in that concept].
This is after NEWSWEEK, the Lefty vanity publication that lives on a decades dead journalistic reputation and ignores fiscal and factual reality in pursuit of socialist ideological purity; publishes a cover story issue calling for the replacement of Buraq Hussein I.
I gotta get a reinforced umbrella; because pigs are flying and I suspect that they are incontinent.
Do I think that the Journo-List 2.0 State media has seen the virtues of “Truth, Justice, and the American Way”? Not bloody likely. There is something hostile afoot, and they are not to be trusted or taken at their word.
“By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.”
Subotai Bahadur
True enough, she misquoted the LA Times. However, she made a larger point that will be important to many, many women. Regardless of the wording of the LA Times article, the fact that Romney did not fight for the “rape/incest/life of the mother exception” will be a strike against him. The issue of the quote will be far less important than the fact that he is likely to act to defeat a woman’s right to reproductive choice. In that respect Wasserman-Shultz got her point across. It is his behavior-not words in some article-that will matter to women.
No woman who wants to kill their baby would ever vote Republican anyway so who cares?
Actually, there are many college educated women who are conservative in most respects but still want reproductive choice for women. We do vote Republican and support the Romney-Ryan ticket but her point will resonate with many women on both sides of the aisle.
Let’s see if I understand this, Elle. The country is in the midst of a stagnant recession that has left millions out of work and out of hope. The unemployment rate is 8.3% by the government’s own manipulated statistics, but really somewhere between 11 and 15% when people who have just given up on looking and dropped out of the job-seeking pool are considered. The national debt has climbed to $16 trillion+, and the President’s own budget projections show $1 trillion+ per year deficits for as far as the eye can see. The Senate has abdicated its Constitutional responsibility by refusing to even pass a budget since Obama was immaculated. Both Social Security and Medicare are projected to go bankrupt in the next 10 to 25 years without Congressional action to save them, but the Ruling Class in Washington continues to kick the can down the road. The real debt (including the unfunded liabilities for public employees pensions and health benefits) dwarfs the $16 trillion number and far exceeds the ability of the U.S. economy to pay back at its current state of operation. The Middle East is a roiling pot of Islamic fundamentalist theocracies, threatening Israel’s existence and increasing the possibility of a World War.
And you are telling me that “many college-educated women” will be voting in this election based on the perception being advanced by this Administration and its operatives in the Democrat party and the mainstream legacy media that a vote for Romney and Ryan will endanger their access to unlimited free abortion and birth control? That’s it – the overriding issue in perhaps the most important challenge to our Constitutional Republic in 220+ years?
The value of a college education appears to be seriously overrated!
Are you implying that all women think alike? If you think that all women are “pro-choice” (sic: the choice is to continue the pregnancy and have a baby in a few months or to get rid of the baby), you are incorrect.
I’m a woman and I’m pro-life. I’m really tired of the meme that female voters will only vote for pro-choice (sic) politicians and will punish politicians who are pro-life and who don’t, knee-jerk, “endorse” a woman’s “right to choose.”
All women have “the right to choose” — before they get pregnant.
I suspect that standing up for the right to life of the unborn may be very popular with many female voters, contrary to feminist/MSM myths.
– means never having to say sorry.
This was pretty awesome. Anderson Cooper, CNN going after DWS and basically calling her a liar? How can you not love it?
The riveting Debbie Wasserman Schulz story: Truth is No Object.
“Anderson… Anderson… Anderson…”
What condescending, obnoxious PITA she is. Maybe she has good organizational skills or something, but someone in her position has got to have better presentation and debate skills. That was just awful.
That was the thing that stood out the most in this give-and-take . . . “Debbie’s” dismissive attitude. At least Cooper stuck to his guns and didn’t let up.
So, what’s up with these “eruptions” in the media that are finding fault with Obama? The Newsweek cover, this exchange at CNN? Is it current polling that shows most folks find the media shamelessly “in the bag” for Obama, and their consciences are starting to bother them?
What happened? Did Anderson not get the ‘email’ lil Debbie was referring to? I thought all CNN news anchors got the DNC daily talking points. She got beat up by Woofie just last week for ignoring pesky ‘facts’. She doesn’t seem to have learned much in the meantime.
Good to see someone other than on Fox trying to beat some facts into this braying woman’s head. It must have been her ability to ‘stay on message’ and swim against the tide and ignore the facts when assaulted with the truth that led to the dummycrats selecting this woman as head of DNC.
Perhaps it’s fitting in a reverse humor sort of way that she is unwittingly put in such a vulnerable high profile Democrat position…..she’s a pretty apt specimen.
Let’s stand by, egg her on and see her blather (“bray” is the better word seen just above) and rant on and on.
Unintended collateral stuff, and all that.
CNN?
Cooper?
Giving a nazi..excuse me…’democrat’….hell?
Did I just wake up in an alternate universe?
She’s a glutton for punishment ( stupid). This is the second time this week Cooper has exposed her lying. She’s typical of the sleeze coming from that party.
I think the real issue here is how a Congresswoman and the Chairperson of the DNC can afford Courtney Love’s hairdresser!
pretty awesome.Anderson Cooper is really a nice story. Its so interesting.I just like this. Thanks for share.
I am still stunned that a CNN host would challenge lies and push for the truth, repeatedly!
