Romney Beats Obama in July Fundraising, By A Lot

The fundraising totals for the month of July are out, and the new numbers make some sense of the panic that has set in inside Obama’s fundraising effort. Obama and the DNC raised a combined total of $75 million in July. That’s up slightly from the June total of $71 million.

But the Romney campaign followed its $106 million June with $101 million in July. Add the $26 million fundraising victory in July to the $35 million fundraising margin in June, and in just two months the Romney and the RNC have outpaced Obama and the DNC by a whopping $61 million.

Both campaigns have increased their spending over the past month, but as long as the huge fundraising margin stands, the Obama campaign runs the risk of running out of money well ahead of the campaign’s home stretch.
