Check out this new Obama ad.
Here is the Romney ad that the Obama ad claims is false. It quotes Obama, then quotes Romney’s rebuttals.
The “Truth Team” ad is the Obama campaign’s first attempt at getting past the president’s “You didn’t build that” speech. It begins saying “Mitt Romney is launching a false attack.” The false attack: Quoting Obama’s own speech word for word. After quoting Romney, quoting Obama, saying “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen,” the ad said “Problem: That’s not what he [Obama] said.” The problem with what the ad says, is that it is what Obama said.
Then the ad plays another part of Obama’s speech, the part about teachers. That wasn’t the part that sparked all the controversy, because it’s so banal it’s pointless for the president to bother saying. Then the ad quotes Romney agreeing, that teachers and firefighters are good things to have. Because they are. Only then, does the ad show Obama’s “You didn’t build that” section, with the preceding line about roads and bridges included to provide some kind of cover for the president.
But, recall, that in the previous slate, the ad said the president didn’t say what it just showed him saying.
Then the ad tries to make it look like Romney and Obama agree on a bunch of stuff, which they do, because up to now the election really had not been about whether basic infrastructure is worth having or not. That isn’t even the question posed by the president. In the infamous speech, Obama argues that successful people aren’t really smarter or harder working than less successful people, and that they owe more of their income in taxes because they benefited from the infrastructure that we have all built with our tax money. Left unsaid, successful and unsuccessful people use the same infrastructure, and once a person becomes successful, they move into those top brackets where they end up paying more taxes than many unsuccessful people combined. Also left unsaid: Since we all use the same infrastructure but some are more successful than others, what’s the difference? Why does one succeed and one not succeed? Might good ideas and hard work have something to do with that? Barack Obama suggested that no, hard work and smarts have little or nothing to do with that. “There are a lot of smart people out there!…There are a whole bunch of hard working people out there!” Obama said with a sneer.
The Truth Team ad is one of the most pointless political ads ever produced, and does nothing at all to stop the hemorrhaging that Obama started when he told business builders that they didn’t build their businesses.

I think it may help show what Obama really thinks about truth.
To the Left, truth is only relative. Falsehood are a “Higher Truth” while actual truth is a lie.
Orwell had it right.
rbj – That is why being a Democrat is a form of mental illness. To them, there is no truth, there is no reality; what is real is only what they want to be real even though the intersection of such ‘reality’ with reality is a null set.
“I think it may help show what Obama really thinks about truth.”
True that. They ought to call it the “Truthiness Team”.
Sorry Mr. Soetro, but that train has already left the station. What you said is impossible to walk back.
Even my kids know the first rule of holes- when you’re in one, stop digging. Evidently Team Obama hasn’t heard of that one.
He wasn’t taken out of context. And he denigrated ANYONE whose had ANY success in life, not just businessmen. I’ve been trying to hammer home to my 18 and 20-year old kids what reelecting Obama means for their future, and this Romney ad had more of an effect on them than anything I’ve said about the national debt and taxes. They’re both attending college on scholarships, having worked their little tails off to get where they are. My son just simply listened to Obama’s words and said “Oh, my God….”.
Romney should put your boys in an ad watching Obama, jaws dropping.. “omg”.
“Also left unsaid: Since we all use the same infrastructure but some are more successful than others, what’s the difference? Why does one succeed and one not succeed? Might good ideas and hard work have something to do with that? This should be Romney’s angle of attack for as long as he can keep reminding people about how Obama views successful businesses. It is basic first year critical analysis. The very minimum a populace needs to weigh in on issues like politics, and the exercise also provides a sort of free education for lefties, call it good old-fashioned Christian charity, that will really pi$$ them off. The question is this: If the difference between success and failure is government provided services such as education, roads, bridges, and firefighters, and NOT talent or hard work,HOW then does one explain the existence of both successful and unsuccessful people in a country REQUIRED BY LAW to provide these services to ALL equally?
Now,this is no obstacle for many leftists. Feminists invoke a “patriarchy” that supposedly steps in somewhere between the government mandate to provide opportunity regardless of gender (nee sex) and the failure of individual women to take advantage of it. Race hucksters like Sharpton do the same by invoking an invisible Jim Crow effect.
However, in the absence of political correctness, as any nation gripped by poverty and searching for answers is increasingly more likely to embrace, such arguments look like the “phlogiston” theories of yesteryear which explain why rocks do not burn and paper burns well. Obviously, you right-wing nutjobs, it’s due to the presence of on invisible, unmeasurable, ephemeral pseudo-gas that pops into existence at the moment of ignition, fuels the fire until the very moment it stops burning and then disappears into another dimension without ever leaving so much as a trace, other than the effect (burning), to prove it existed in the first place. If you weren’t all so crazy and racist, you could see that. /sarcasm
Right. This is where the lack of logic in the President’s argument becomes evident.
But I think one reason (besides the fact that he’s a socialist) that he believes these things is because he’s not that smart, never worked that hard, and yet he’s President. So of course he thinks that everyone else who is successful had things handed to them in one way or the other.
That’s why Hollywood is his last bastion of support. I realize that some of them do work very hard but their success is mostly based on fortunate genetics, just like the President’s.
To extend the patriarchy/racism argument: If government largesse hasn’t helped because of “other factors,” then what good will more government largesse do? Won’t the evil haters just keep thwarting the Government’s good works? Or is there some “critical mass” thing – a point at which women and minorities are getting SO much special help that they’re able to simply overpower the opposition? If that’s so, I assume we won’t be able to predict the exact moment when that will occur, or even what society will look like when it happens. Therefore (let me go out on a limb here), the only thing to do is simply keep shoveling money into that hole until…whenever. Until everybody stops complaining, I guess. Yep, that’s what I call a Plan!
It’s not only a false attack, it’s RACIST! /sarc
But to him it is true. He has had everything handed to him by others, and has never produced anything, yet by some miracle, he wound up in the White House. He did nothing in a posh private high school (my last few years of high school were spent in a daze), seemingly not in college or law school either (first Harvard Law Review Editor in history never to have written an actual law review article), guest lectured on Constitutional Law of all things, a subject he clearly knows little about, or ignores what he does know. He phoned it in while an Illinois legislator, by far his most common vote being “present,” and did nothing in the U.S. Senate other than hectoring George Bush or campaigning for himself. Next thing you know, with the aid of the compliant media, he’s president, with nobody even knowing who he is or what he’s ever done. Small wonder he thinks “other people did that.” In his life it is a complete truism.
Liberals shouldn’t try to think, because they really aren’t very good at it ant their efforts are often pretty funny and sometimes cringe-inducing. This is a great case in point, Obama goes out one time without the TelePrompter, gets tempted to wing it and play to the crowd, and look what happens.
Clearly Barack Obama thinks he can dissemble his way out of this steaming mess he has created. I see no reason to interfere with his delusion.
