Condi for Veep? Not No Way. Not No How
Is there anyone reading this who seriously entertains the notion that Mitt Romney is giving any consideration to choosing Condi Rice as his running mate?
Still, the proprieties must be observed and herewith is the skinny on the shortest vice presidential boomlet in recorded history:
A new round of speculation about Mitt Romney’s running-mate deliberations ensued after a media report mentioned an unconventional choice: former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The Drudge Report website set Washington ablaze in another round of the vice-presidential guessing game Thursday night by posting an item attributed to “sources” naming her as one of the top contenders to be the presumptive Republican nominee’s running mate.
The item mentioned a fundraising email Ms. Rice, 57 years old, sent Thursday night on Mr. Romney’s behalf as part of the campaign’s “Meet the VP” drive, an initiative intended to increase the number of small-dollar donors in which the winners get to meet the candidate and his eventual running mate.
No one in the Romney camp would confirm or deny the story, in keeping with the campaign’s tight-lipped approach to the selection process. But it’s possible the item was a trial balloon from the campaign attempting to gauge the reaction to Ms. Rice as a possible pick.
The report caused outsize fanfare because Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades has a close working relationship with Matt Drudge, who launched the site in the 1990s and made his preference for the former Massachusetts governor clear during the Republican primary.
Mr. Rhoades sent an email to supporters late Thursday night alerting them to the campaign’s latest fundraising push, telling the recipients, “Sometime between now and the Republican convention, Mitt will be announcing his choice for VP.”
I’m sure that somewhere, there is a conservative — maybe two — who read Drudge and immediately said to themselves, “Eureka! She’s the one!.”
For the rest, the yowling outrage could be heard to the far corners of righty-land:
“I don’t know who is hitting the crack rock tonight in the rumor mill, but bull shiitake mushrooms,” RedState’s Erick Erickson wrote. “Condelizza Rice is pro-abortion. She worked for George Bush for eight years.”
Go ahead and tell us how you really think, Erick.

Is this John McCain’s idea? SOMEONE in the GOP must really want Romney to lose in November.
From what I’ve seen so far, it looks like a McCain repeat as the GOP snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. Romney obviously is better than Obama, duh. But compared to Washington, Jefferson, and Adams, both are an embarassment to America, that we would even support the idea of such candidates. One will destroy the Constitution in 4 more years. The other will implement policies that erode it slowly, like Bush with the PATRIOT Act, for example. And the GOP Congress 2000-2006 that set the stage for Obama and the Dem Congress in 2008. We’re being played by the one-party system masquerading as 2.
I agree it’s a screaming joke and Drudge is having fun — got himself a WSJ editorial now — but Republicans who were polled presumably know everything you do, including her pro-choice stance. They still like her as a veep choice. And how does she poll outside the Republican party? Those are the questions I’d like to see answered. Policy shmolicy.
She’s not a bad choice. I can argue that any of the others being floated are worse in the area of foreign policy.
Look, the primary value of a VP candidate is to offset a weakness on the part of the Presidential candidate. Romney is weak in foreign policy credentials and You could do a whole lot worse than to have Ms. Rice at your side giving you advice on foreign policy. ( This is not to say that Obama is strong. I argue that people are no longer voting for Obama as much as they are deciding whether or not to vote against Romney. Most people have long since made up their mind on Obama. )
Secondly, in very real terms we are sitting on top of a powder keg right now that could go off at any moment. The 5th fleet based in Qatar has now doubled the number of ships in the Gulf, and that the same time the United States has taken the screws to the Iranians, including yesterdays action of sanctioning their tanker fleet, rendering them in great deal of economic trouble. While I genuinely applaud these actions, history shows that things like this rarely move in a straight line. As a former President once said about the reaction of the other side to a blockade:
“There’s always some Son-of-a-B*** who doesn’t get the memo”**
He was right. We once passed a series of economic actions on another nation and put them in a position where they either had to give into our demands or fight. They didnt give in, they chose to fight and on December 7th, we lost our fleet in Hawaii and for four years we fought a nasty horrid war that ended in two cites being bombed with nuclear weapons. Today, it hardly occurs to anyone that the war was started over the US wanting to influence and direct Japanese policy on China.
It appears that the Iranians are about to act on their threat to deny transit through the Hormuz to any nation engaged in the sanctions ( that’s us kids). Can they do this? Yes, Yes they can. The Hormuz is about the same distance as Long Beach California is from Catalina Island. If they decide to take this action, we are at war with Iran in very real terms and a fifth of the worlds oil will be restricted behind that minefield and you can just guess what the impact will be on the worlds economies while we clear said minefield.
So in the next 110 days, we might need someone on our ticket who is recognized as a foreign policy leader, else we will find ourselves answering foreign policy questions with economic answers and the electorate will find us wanting.
**- JFK, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
a foreign policy leader, by any means.
See today’s commentarymagazine(dot)com for a blog article spelling out some of her serious shortcomings.
She was in fact and reality, a leader. You may not agree with her conclusions or to where she lead us based on those conclusions, but she did in fact – lead.
She lead for the Palestinians and for getting American troops dead and limbless for Muslims.
Condoleeza Rice “went native” when she went to State.
She became just another cog in the State Department cabal of palace revolutionaries, just like everyone else. Am I the only one who remembers the seditious behavior of State during her tenure?
I would like to see John Bolton at State, by the way.
Can you explain what the hell a foreign policy leader is? She was Secretary Of State not the president! She is not supposed to lead but to administer the policies of the president. She will not garner one black vote over what Romney would have gotten anyway. She is considered marginally black by the Bros. She is not a conservative on many issues and is liberal on many others. Coupled with Romney’s lack of conservative credentials the pair would look almost like a moderate Demorat team. If this is the best Romney can do then we are truly screwed.
Much better than Huckabee! True left-winger. Unlike Rice, he really fits the MSM playbook.
You need to quit drinking the Cato Institute cool-aid. They’ve been in Romney’s camp for a looong, long time now, and worked triple shifts to smear Huckabee last time.
Research what Japan was doing in the 30′s before you use that claim that economic sanctions caused them to attack. They were in a collision course long before that, intending to conquer the Philipines. Research also the “Rape of Nan King”.
Japan needed those economic resources to fuel their conquests, not for peaceful purposes, so the argument we were economic meanies just does not hold up.
Oh, Im not arguing that. What I am arguing is that the moment we enforced an embargo against oil to Japan, the Japanese had only one way out. They simply could not give into our demands on China, which made war inevitable. What is unfortunate, is that we did not act as if the war was inevitable once we took steps to “start the clock ticking”. We were unprepared for war in the Pacific and we came very close on a number of occasions to losing it, if not prolonging it. If there was ever a case to be made for beneficial intervention by the Almighty into the affairs of men, it can certainly be found in the Battle of Midway and our victory in that action.
The mistake our Nations leadership made in the 1940′s was holding the Japanese armed forces in such contempt that we failed to understand the damage they could do to us, our allies and the western pacific rim, as well as the wider consequences of the war. Because of that contempt, we rather foolishly believed that Japanese would give into our demands rather than fight as they did. On the other hand, the Japanese foolishly believed that we wouldn’t fight and would sue for peace. It just goes to show you that wars start in ways that are never fully understood at the time.
Make no mistake about it, The Japanese empire was a force of evil let loose upon the world. To put it in its true perspective, Imperial Japan was in practice and reality, everything that Nazi Germany aspired to be. The world, and the Japanese people specifically, are better for its passing but we cannot overlook the price that was paid.
Condi is a bad choice from the start because she was part of the Bush administration. The Obama camp will ride to victory on that alone. Secondly, her ethnicity does absolutely nothing for Romney. AA’s vote democratic 90% of the time and 95% of Barry. Absolutely no help there.
As an attack dog VP candidate, she does not qualify either. She is smart and would fry Biden but that probably will not make that much difference and that is really not her style.
The KEY is to keep moderate R’s who like Romney and independents interested. Following that, the conservative wing of the party including the Tea Party folks have to be fired up! Turn out will in large measure determine the results. So choose a V.P who can perhaps pull some of the young, the women (get a smart, good looking orator) and Hispanics.
Anybody got the answer yet? Rubio. It is a Duh! He won’t be a Dan Quale or a G. Ferraro drag on the ticket. He will fry Biden thus answering the question of “is he ready”.
I am 68 and I have called every election since Kennedy and Nixon even if the guy i wanted did not win. So go with my gut here. We need Hispanic votes, women’s votes (or at least a few that voted weird in 2008), some of the young college age that are disenchanted, etc. Get them and it is a walk . Otherwise, migrate to Australia or somewhere.
Condi would make a good, not great, but good pre-school worker. Her time in government was attrocious, she hammered on Israel and gave too much support to the heathens that surround it. She refused to support our friends and groveled to our enemies (sort of sounds like Obama but she wasn’t that bad). Bush’s second term was markedly different from his first when Cheney and Rumsfeld had his ear. I certainly hope Romney knows better and this is just a flash in the pan fad idea for a 24 hour news cycle.
Rice is pro-choice, so that categorically puts an end to any speculation right there. The fundies won’t have any of that. And while Mitt might be enjoying the speculation of such a match up and secretly hoping that it will bring him more votes than losses. I would like to hear it from his own mouth that he is considering her. However, it would cause the heads of the LDS church to spin around like Linda Blair’s in the Exorcist.
On a separate note, I don’t like anything about her or the repulsive regime she was attached to, but I also think she is far too bright to allow herself to be dragged into the mud of a presidential election campaign, especially one that is imploding from the weight of its own lies as we speak.
Rice wants to recede into the background. As she should.
Choice. Yeah, we need to eradicate that concept from the Constitution. Thank you for supporting Obama.
When that choice is abortion, slavery, euthanasia, infanticide or having sex with children, yes, that choice needs to be declared anathema to the Republic and extricated from the Constitution.
So, Barry Goldwater, who was once called “Mr. Conservative” (back in the days before you Dixiecrats and Catholi-crats invaded and took over the Republican Party), whose wife Peggy had co-founded a chapter of Planned Parenthood here in Arizona, …was something “to be declared anathema to the Republic”?
Any chance you might “recede into the background?”
Besides anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that Drudge’s “scoop” is just a deflection from the Bain scandal. Not to mention with a haircut like that. Are you kidding me? Romney isn’t going to pick a lesbian. Let alone a black lesbian.
It’s much simpler than a deflection; it’s a money-maker. Drudge is the proverbial kid out in the street shouting “News! News! Hear All About It!!!”
No one really knows who Romney is going to pick as veep. It’s all a bunch of hoopla & noise signifying nothing of any substance. But hey, it gets the ratings, & that’s what it’s all about.
Perhaps we shouldn’t place the abortion litmus test on this possibility? I’m not pro-abortion by any stretch of the imagination, but isn’t it more important to get Romney – and a bunch of *conservative* Representatives and Senators – elected than having doctrinaire arguments over abortion and splitting the movement?
Do what it takes to turn the country around, first. Getting rid of abortion-on-demand [which I'm not sure Rice is a supporter of] can be a second-term issue.
Nor do I support abortion as birth control or abdication of responsibility. But if I have to choose between the Constitution and a religious philosophy, I choose the Constitution.
So far, I seen lots of judgments about Rice but little citation. Perhaps it’s best if we actually study a candidate’s writings and speeches before deciding if they support this or that?
I guess you didn’t hear the criticism from the people that worked with her when she was a national security adviser. They said she screwed up things so badly that they began to work around her. She hated Israel and loved the Palestinians. She bragged about Obama getting elected and said what a great thing it was. She belongs in a woman’s college as the dean and she should stay out of politics.
“She bragged about Obama getting elected and said what a great thing it was.”
Citation, please.
Never mind. I see it.
Huffington Post.
“As an African-American, I’m especially proud, because this is a country that’s been through a long journey, in terms of overcoming wounds and making race [less a factor in life]. …That work is not done, but yesterday [election day, 2008] was obviously an extraordinary step forward.”
Well, let’s see: have we made any steps forward in making race “less of a factor”? Well, attacks by roving black teenagers on whites has gone up. George Zimmerman is up on charges of second degree murder only because officials are trying to appease the black demographic. And our ‘post-racial president’ interfered with a local matter involving a Cambridge, MA white policeman and a prominent black professor (the cop was doing his job, responding to neighbors’ concerns about suspicious activiy).
No way! Abortion is and must always be non-negotiable. If the candidate is wrong on abortion, who cares what they’re right about? Can they even be trusted to be right about anything if they can’t pass such a basic litmus test: Do you believe abortion, which plain sense tells us is murder, should be banned? Anyone who answers wrong is so demonstrably lacking in moral fiber that they cannot be trusted to be anywhere near authority.
Yep. It’s really that simple.
If a person can verbally dance around ripping a baby apart in its mother’s womb, there isn’t any subject on which that person can be trusted by anyone.
the fact that Condoleezza Rice’s notions about Israel are utterly idiotic, not to mention bigoted in the extreme.
As our Secretary of State she likened Israel to the Southern racist rednecks during the civil rights movement in the 1960′s, and the Palestinians to the oppressed Southern blacks of that time.
Remember?
Sorry, but she is part of the defense industrial complex! I will only vote for freedom!
http://www.garyjohnson2012.com/front
Condi Rice is SOLID on the 2nd Amendment. She describes herself a a “Second Amendment absolutist”.
I like that.
On EVERY other issue, she’s a disaster.
A “moderate” at best, a flaming liberal at worst.
Just Say No.
Whether Condi would be a good VP or not is a moot point. As Rick so eloquently pointed out, “Bush, Bush, Bush”. How could the Romney campaign be so STUPID as to think a Rice VP nomination would do anything but add untold amounts of ammunition to the Obummer campaign. Not to mention Obummer and his Merry Communist Minions would be laughing their azzes off. Sheez!!!!!
Condi went to Kenya and got Obama’s uncle Raile Odinga installed as Prime Minister after he lost his race for president. This put an end to limbs being hacked off, rapes and the burning of 100 Christians locked in a church, perpetrated by Obama’s tribe.
Exactly how is Obama going to criticize Rice when she helped his uncle and is an authentic black woman?
Exactly how is Obama going to criticize Wright when he was his mentor and pastor for 20 years?
Exactly how is Obama going to continue to criticize Bush when he originated the policies that Obama is now pressing?
Obama can and will criticize anybody and everybody whenever it’s convenient for him, regardless of the facts, and the media will let him get away with it.
And just what in the world is “an authentic black woman”?
Or better yet, what in the world is “an INauthentic black woman”?
Would that be someone wearing blackface?
YES way:)
This is utter foolishness. First, she brings very few positives to the ticket. Obama doesn’t own foreign policy in anyone’s mind, so Romney doesn’t need her for that. She brings no state with her or even any following. Emotionally, she’s cold and has the political savvy of a cabbage. Diplomacy and politics are not the same thing. She brings zero passion. The biggest thing she brings is niceness. Romney already has that covered.
How she takes from a ticket starts with the list above because not only does she not have those qualities, her being on the ticket deprives it of someone who does have those qualities.
Second, she brings GWB with her. That’s not an advantage, even to conservatives who like him, but it does give the “same ol thing” argument back to Obama – quite a nice gift. She violates Romney’s Pro-Life stance and his promise to not go there. The path to the White House does not include lying to people about the issue that is most important to them. While she can probably debate diplomatic points and sound very academic, it is a negative with people who don’t think in such terms. If you want to succeed in an election, people have to identify with you and feel you identify with them back.
Sorry dudes and dudettes, but leave her happy knowing that she was considered, but go find someone that your base will approve of (or risk them not showing up), and who feels their pain and passions.
And even if Condi would somehow rise to the occasion and become the phenom of the GOP, Obama would simply swap out Biden for Hillary, thus eliminating the advantage of female and Secy of State, leaving Condi with the singular ticket advantage of being black. And nobody’s switching their vote from a black Democrat president to a black Republican vice president.
??
There are conservatives who like Bush?
Oh, LIKE him, yes, but think he was a good President?
Not.
Have you read her position on Pro Choice? She stated that she is against Late Term Abortion, and is for parent notification for underage girls. She said that she is pro life, but is not in favor of outlawing abortion. She is not the Pro Choice advocate that she is being portrayed as. The same for Israel. She was a much better Secretary of State than Hillary. Rumsfeld however wasn’t too pleased with her having President Bush’s ear (read his book).
Condaleeza Rice for VP is a Machiavellian move which does the following:
Preempts Obama from dumping Biden in favor of Clinton.
Siphons off a good portion of the African American vote.
If elected the Blacks will finally have a leader that is not a race-baiter,nor would she encourage victimhood. She is the best thing that could happen for
them, one of their own that was raised in the South and knows what it took to become succesful. All in all she is a quality person and a good choice.
Are you kidding? She will not siphon ONE vote from Obama in the Black community. She is not black except in skin color and other than bragging about Obama getting elected has never had anything to do with the black culture. She cannot speak with any passion which is what wins blacks over. She is a matter of fact person who would have a hard selling a ten dollar bill for five dollars.
Didn’t Condi, like Colin Powell, endorse Obama in the last election? Race before Party. Yeah, that would make a nice VP-running-mate attack dog. I’m sure she’d go after Obama hard.
Miss Rice is Center left at best – a RINO and a constant reminder of the Bush administration. It will be an insult to conservatives in having two RINOS pushed down their throats. No thanks!
She has a great resume, and a poor record.
She is clean and articulate.
Her nomination scores 1000% on the pander scale, this being considered a good thing by those who just want to score votes.
She could out-debate Joe Biden with both hands tied behind her back, and it would be HIGHLY amusing.
And none of the other candidates for veep nets out any stronger.
Still, I think she would be a poor to disasterous choice.
Drudge head fake…..besides a lousy track record of Veep prediction.
You know it does not matter until he specifically names his vp. I always like Condi Rice, but I did not always like her political views. Right now you gotta think that putting her name out there is just the game to see what the Obama admin. throws at her and what sticks. I do not like what’s going on in our country, but I do like the show. At least Condi can tell a better “story” than Joe ‘the dupe’ Biden..
When I saw this headline on Drudge, my first reaction was someone wants her to change her mind about not supporting obama. Whoever concocted that should be taken out behind the barn and have their xxx kicked. What is there about no they don’t understand?
I suppose not…but I would enjoy seeing her “debate” Joe Biden…
I’d just like to point out that she hasn’t actually been nominated for anything. We are reacting to phantoms.
Its a summer distraction and its been an amazingly successful, if not utterly masterful exercise in media manipulation and control! You should all be giddy that our candidate has the mastery to steal the oxygen out of the air from the competition.
Relax fellas. Keep your powder dry. A little “fire discipline” on the line, if you please Mr. Gridley…
I don’t think she would do it anyway. But wouldn’t it be entertaining to watch the Democrats twist themselves in knots trying to Palinize a black woman candidate for VP?
NO! No one from any previous administration or a fprmer candidate.
That’s “f o r m e r” candidate. (sorry)
I agree! No one from the previous administration. Too much baggage and an easy target to shame.
Hey a little fun here. Please, in the great history of VP -who cares who he or she is or what they have done. Gee if Joe “been wrong on everything” Biden wound up as VP why not Condi.
Rah Rah now–”If Joe can do it so can Condi, If Joe can do it so can Condi”
Peggy Noonan loves her … but then again she also loved O.
“Peggy Noonan…. loved O[bama].”
Citation please.
Joe and Nixon were VP’s so why not Condi? She is a black woman which would add some spice to the election and also she did do a great job in my opinion. She is a great speaker unlike Joe fumble mouth Biden. She NEVER went spoke when not needed. She is from the Bush era, but different than Bush. Way different!!!!
What do you like about her? She’s a liberal on everything except the 2nd Amendment.
Condi Rice as V.P makes me bite my hand and scream. No, I remember how well she negotiated with North Korea. She blinked. John Bolton would be a better choice is you want foreign policy. col. Allen West, Florida would make a perfect trifecta for Romney. Military, Conservative, Black and smart and unafraid of the left. Soros has started a pac just to take down Col. West. West is top fund-raiser in House. $10 million of little donors like myself.
Furthermore, I am profoundly sick of women Sec of State, Starting with Madeline not so bright, Hiliary (thanks for the Arab Spring) Clinton and Condi Rice who was against Iraq War. No conservative, no way.
Condi Rice: “We should note that unlike in our Constitutional Convention, the Iraqis have not made a compromise as bad as the one that made my ancestors three-fifths of a man”
She is either too ignorant to know that the pro-slavery states wanted to count slaves fully (to raise their number of seats in the house), which would have likely prolonged slavery, and the anti-slavery states wanted slaves to count zero, to help oppose slavery, or she lies to make some kind of false case.
Condi Rice: “Only cynics [meaning like the white racists in Birmingham] argue that the people of the Middle East, perhaps because of their color or their creed or their culture or even perhaps because of their religion, are somehow incapable of democracy.”
Thousands of American Soldiers and Marines have died in Iraq (with 2/3 of the Christians there being ethically cleansed under Iraq’s democracy) and Afghanistan for this twisted fool’s idiocy. I’m sure she was a big cheerleader of the “Arab Spring” too, but I hope she doesn’t expect the Copts to send her a nice thank-you card, any more than the Iraqi Christians.
Condi Rice: “I believe that there could be no greater legacy for America than to help to bring into being a Palestinian (terror) state for a people who have suffered too long, who have been humiliated (by the nasty Jews and for no reason at all) too long, who have not reached their potential for too long, and who have so much to give to the international community and to all of us (Give what? More suicide bomber kids? The extermination of Israel?).”
And no greater legacy for America? This woman, who pressured Israel into holding elections in Gaza that gave Hamas power, is either very stupid or a very dangerous psycho.
Condi Rice”: “I know what it is like to hear to that you cannot go on a road or through a checkpoint because you are Palestinian. I understand the feeling of humiliation and powerlessness.”
She acts like she doesn’t even know why the checkpoints are there … … or doesn’t care. This woman is a disaster.
The LA Times reports: “Afghanistan’s Karzai urges Taliban leader Omar to run for president.”
Why are we still there again, with our troops still dieing, Condi? Oh that’s right – we don’t want to be racists or religionists and think poorly of Afghans or other Muslims.
The stupid party really wants to lose. Does it not hand a boatload of ammunition to the dems? It can easily be painted as bring the Bush years back to the white house. Getting a Bush hack who is black will not get one black vote, but will turn off so many conservatives. Besides, Condiloma is dangerously naive when it comes to foreign policy. I remember her saying that growing up in the south as a black woman makes her appreciate the plight of the Palestinians. She will add absolutely nothing to the ticket. When it comes to the republican candidate this year, I’m starting to have bad flashbacks to McShame and 2008.
Rice really doesn’t stand a chance of being VP for several (but not all) of the reasons mentioned above. But in a perfect world she’s the best choice.
I notice that almost nobody mentioned that she is very intelligent. Not to point fingers, but some VP candidates have not been known for an overabundance of brains. Personally I always hope that the people running the country are smart people. I’ve been disappointed quite often. Rice is smarter than whoever gets the VP nomination. She’s also about 10,000% smarter than Biden.
Condi not only has foreign policy credentials, but she knows how to deal with a hositle press. I suspect the MSM might be a teeny tiny bit biased towards Obama (some of you are swearing, the rest know understatement when they read it). Rice has had experience with being grilled on live TV. You know that the MSM are looking for a slip of the tongue or mistep to make the candidate look bad. Condi doesn’t make gaffs.
Someone else mentioned this one but it bears repeating. Rice would shred Biden in a debate. No question, no doubt. It would have been amazing television watching Joe being hammered by Condi. If Romney decides to go with someone boring (as has been rumored), Biden might run rings around him. A Biden-Rice debate would be a PPV quality fight.
No, Condi really doesn’t have a shot. Was it Drudge or The Onion that says she’s a contender? But she’d have been a great candidate.
Well, in a perfect world, Condi Rice would put her her country ahead of her race, and would actually be a conservative who knew and understood this nation’s founding principles, history, and documents.
So, I guess in a perfect world, I’d agree with you.
But it’s not, and she isn’t.
I present a couple of theories for your consideration:
1. Of the list of ‘opposition research’ books uncovered yesterday that were produced by the left, I don’t recall Dr Rice being among them. This move would leave the left scrambling with no coordinated playbook. ( I actually think the Drudge story is a guerrilla move by the Romney campaign to throw the obama campaign into a tizzy.)
2. It will be really tough for Obama to be taken seriously as he accuses Dr RIce of being a racist.
Only in your own echo chamber are people talking about Rice as a possible veep. And if you listen closely they don’t like it (even look at the comments right here). The gorilla you speak of is biting off its nose to spite its face because everyone else is talking about Bain, BAin, BAIn, BAIN!
So let me ask you about that job you have as paid troll for Obama’s Office of the Director of Progressive Media and Online Response Does it pay well?
Bush Bush Bush. What a terrible brush poor Condi is tarred with. The horrors of 5% unemployment ! The nightmare of a chief executive that knew which country he was president of. the sheer the terror of a person at NSA with experience and proven ability dating back to the Reagan era. Not to mention a president that actually cared if there were profitable companies for people to go work at. Rebuilt our military. Heavens not that!
well if shes gay that might cause some tongue wagging. One way or another
Since when is a candidates policy positions the primary consideration? Good grief folks, this county elected Barack-freakin’-Obama last time around!
The Republican Party ignores identity politics at its grave peril. Rice is both black AND female AND she has massive name recognition. Most voters couldn’t tell you where she stands on anything – NOT because Rice’s positions are unknown, but because most voters are knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers (remember, they elected Obama).
Rice gives the guilty conscious types a way to vote for Romney without feeling like racists. She gives them the opportunity to put a woman in the #2 slot for the first time in history – an event nearly as historic as Obama’s election. And she can kick Joe Biden’s ass in a debate.
Final note: it’s stupid to ignore all of Rice’s many advantages just because she isn’t pro-life. Make up your damn minds, do you wanna win this election or not?
Rice was an affirmative action officeholder. The media kept insisting on her brilliance but I never saw a single scintilla of evidence of that. What’s more, she was, and is, in bed with Middle East oil interests, just like the Bush family – so much so that someone was going to name an oil tanker after her, until it became obvious that this would be impolitic.
A truly vile woman.
Rice voted for Obama and gushed about the election afterwards. For this incredible bad judgment she would be rewarded with a vice-presidential slot of the opposing party? Romney would show a comparable lack of judgment if he should choose her and could not receive my vote.
Rice is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations which is the American HQ for the Globalist/NWO/One World Tyranny/Bush Family USA wrecking ball. Bush sr. is Romney’s mentor. Rice would be an excellent pick and keep it ‘all in the family’.
Perfect. How to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I’d like to see Rice back on the other side of the negotiating table as Putin. Imagine the amusing outrage as the second humiliation of the would be soviet empire begins at the hands of someone who took part in the first humiliation.
And as for people who don’t see how girl who grew up in Birmingham in the 60′s might feel moved by the idea of the first black man elected to the US presidency. Well we all learned a bitter lesson. I didn’t vote for Obama either but I was happy to see a certain kind of smile on some black faces after the election. Maybe if the country had picked a Condoleeza Rice as its first black president the honeymoon would have lasted longer.
What idiots we have running the republican party. Condi is a good person but was a disaster at State. She did virtually nothing to get the radical liberals out that were sabotaging W’s policy. Also, she is for abortion, EVEN if it is NOT late term abortion.
Condi did a VERY poor job in the Middle East & would just be another RINO as a veep. What ever fool in the pubbie party that thought this one up must have done WAY too much toot in the 80s, drank WAY to much vodka in the 70s, & must have had a brain transplant w/ Carville.
I doubt that overt 1,000 blacks nationwide would vote for Mitt if Condi was on the ticket. Just look at the stats. Nearly ALL voting blacks are in the tank for O. Sheesh, if O were a person of color & Satan himself, he’d get about 95% of the black vote.
Forget it! Thomas Sowell would be a FAR better choice.
The Cowardly Lion did not say “not no way not no how”. It was the gate keeper played by Frank Morgan (who also played the Wizard/Professor Marvel, the carriage driver and a guard).
This is important.
You’re right of course. But somehow his point came across as intended despite the discrepancy……
In beauty contest I will vote for Condi than Mechelle.
If it’s a beauty contest, why not Michele Bachmann?
Condi’s expertise in foreign policy and experience as a cabinet member and in academia will balance out Romney’s business and entrepreneurial skills and savvy. The 2 together would blow away Obama – Biden – no comparison whatsoever. The radical, socialist community organizer who hates America and his Washington insider know-nothing sidekick versus brains and free market, America loving family man. Easy win.
I like Condi as VP. After all, she wants to put all muslims on welfare because, as she says, it is their poverty that is causing all of the terrorism.
What a brilliant statesman. She sees all foreign policy problems as needing solutions from the poverty standpoint of her upbringing in the South. American excellence has nothing to do with any of this nonsense.
Rice (together with Powell) were the ‘no’ votes when Israel approached Bush at the end of his second term with a ready-plan to take out Iran’s nukes. Cheney said ‘go’ and Bush eventually went with the Rice/Powell side. At a time when it would have been alot easier to take them out.
Rice’s rationale for not giving Israel the green-light they were asking for?
It would cause Iran to create mischief against US efforts in Iraq.
Gawd.
