Former PA Gov. and DNC chairman Ed Rendell appeared on Alex Wagner’s MSNBC show today, and showed some discomfort with the Obama campaign’s insinuation that Mitt Romney might be a felonw (because Democrats don’t know how to read complex SEC filings). I added the part in the parentheses.
GOV. ED RENDELL: “But on the other hand, I think Carol also made a very good point about all this attack may be hurting the President’s brand a little bit, too. I think our supporters went a little bit too far with the felony business.”
Here’s the upshot about all this. The Obama campaign is now depicting Mitt Romney — this guy –
as some sort of super villain whose superpowers are the following: He’s incredibly competent, and he can be in two places at the same time. His villainous competency allows him to — cue the dramatic sting — save the Olympics! while he can also — cue the dramatic sting — run a thriving company! Is there no end to his lack of treachery?
Don’t be surprised if the Obama campaign takes advantage of the upcoming release of The Dark Knight Rises to start accidentally on purpose misspelling Bain as Bane Capital. Then they’ll pretend that that’s how you really spell it, and expect everyone to believe them.
But get away from the attacks for a second — is there any Democrat on earth who believes Barack Obama could have either saved the Olympics or run a successful multimillion dollar company, let alone at the same time? He ran a good campaign by outsourcing all the major decisions to David Axelrod, and has run the country into the ground. He has never run a successful business in his life.

Trial balloons don’t always make it off the ground. That is all this was, like Hillary Rosen’s comments about Ann Romney a few months ago.
huerfano @ 1: No, this was put out by Stephanie Cutter, a senior campaign staffer. It was no mistake nor was it a trial balloon. They want to hang another charge on Romney later in the campaign and they can’t do that unless they can establish that he was participating in running Bain in the November 1999 time frame.
Cut the bastards no slack. They most certainly won’t give Romney any!!
By the way, even CNN says it is a lie: http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/12/politics/john-king-bain/index.html?hpt=hp_c1
All they are succeeding in doing is making Romney more sympathetic. They should stay away from his strengths. He is a moral man (outside of political flip-flopping). He is a competent executive. He is a self-made multi-millionaire. Every time they open the conversation on these subjects, they will lose.
They should focus where he is weak. Flip-flopping. His poor record as Governor of MA. His campaign from the Left against Kennedy. Portray him as just another politician wannabe, same-old same-old. They should do everything possible to undermine his weak support among Conservatives.
The attack is having the desired results as Romney is being flushed out of his turtle shell and will now talk with many networks.
As for SEC documents and statements Willard said under oath. Signing SEC documents stating you are the sole stockholder, President, CEO, and Chairman while also attending board meeting of Bain investments and signing documents to the SEC up until 2002 when purchasing Bain investments is a felony if he was caught and the statute of limitations had not expired (which it has).
Then there was Willard’s statement under oath when the Dems sued him when he wanted to run for Governor and just happened to file state taxes in Utah saving some $77K in 2001. So he stated that was active in Bain until 2002 – under oath. Plus he said he just took a leave of absence (while he flew back and forth from the Olympics to attend board meetings).
He could clear this up with his tax returns as even Bain said they were paying him salary until 2002 – poor Willard
Poor Hussein. Cowards such as yourself aren’t enough to make this story stick.
Gee I thought you were supposed to be astute regarding politics. Romney is now being flushed out and his time at Bain will be tarnished like it was in 1994 (when I voted for Romney). I also thought you were at least somewhat familiar with the penalties of statements under oath and also the penalties of signing documents to the SEC if you don’t have those positions? Maybe Bain should work for ACORN and get anyone to sign papers for them if it doesn’t matter.
It seems your wrong on three counts and that’s a threefore for me. Have a nice weekend and watch Mitt fumble those interviews except at FOX
Wrong again, kimosabe.
The next few days will be full of discussions about the Obama campaign’s mendacity and ignorant immorality. It’ll be compared to calling the Clintons racists, just to win the primary.
And it won’t make Obama look good. Not at all.
Icarus melts.
You think you’ll be missed? Run away, coward.
All is fair in love and Alinsky.
This story, now debunked by so many, is not about Romney.
It’s about the immmorality and mendacity of the Obama campaign, and their frenzied desperation.
If they think the American people aren’t noticing just how slimy they are, they’re a lot more stupid and arrogant than many of us think they are.
Backfire, BIG TIME.
