“Faith in God has played a pivotal role in American history every day since the Declaration of Independence,” Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) reminded his Senate colleagues today.
Watch the colloquy with Sens. Lieberman and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) as they recite the prayer that FDR shared in a radio address 68 years ago on D-Day. Portman and Lieberman have introduced a bill to install in the area of the World War II Memorial a plaque or inscription with Roosevelt’s words.
Lieberman then cited Roosevelt in saying that World War II led to the defeat of “unholy forces,” and noted how Americans can face today’s challenges with faith in God.

Strike at every favorable opportunity. For your homes and hearths, strike! For future generations of your sons and daughters, strike! In the name of your sacred dead, strike! Let no heart be faint. Let every arm be steeled. The guidance of divine God points the way. Follow in His Name to the Holy Grail of righteous victory!
Greetings:
As if to give the Google-meisters a run for their stock options, the Progressive (née Public) Broadcasting System included an appropriate in their minds several minute report on its “PBS Newshour” program this evening. The report was about a female Japanese-American medical doctor who was interned at the Manzanor relocation camp during the dark days of World War II. Apparently, she suffered some. As did my departed father who was drafted (interned ???) in the US Army at age 35 and got to spend some of his time in similar camps on Saipan and Peleliu.
While I saw this report that will live in my infamy on KQED, one of the San Francisco Bay area’s PBS stations, the other, KCSM is just as bad. Last December 7th, they ran a half-hour program with a similar theme but about Japanese-American farmers who were first interned and then released to farm again during the war.
But this is probably all just accidental in a plausibly deniable kind of way.
America 2.0
On June 18, 1940 Winston Churchill Spoke before the House of Commons.
“I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life …”
It is really sad how much Western Civilization has declined since the day of Roosevelt and Churchill.
