I swear sometimes Van Jones must be punking the entire country. He cannot mean much of what he says, unless he’s an even bigger tool than he lets on.
During a radio interview Wednesday night, former Obama “green jobs czar” Van Jones broke ranks with current and former administration officials and ripped Attorney General Eric Holder for his handling of Operation Fast and Furious, the failed gun-walking operation that trafficked thousands of firearms across the Mexican border.
“I believe that if this was happening across our other border in Canada, we’d probably take it a little more seriously,” Jones said, implying much of the carelessness over Operation Fast and Furious came because many of the victims are Hispanics from Mexico.
“I worry sometimes that we just don’t value all life the same,” Jones added.
See what he did there? Jones is saying that if the Fast and Furious victims were white instead of Mexican, we would all care about them a lot more. Except, those who do care about them and write about them all the time are people like Katie Pavlich and Bob Owens. They’re white. The man who is most likely responsible for Fast and Furious is Eric Holder, and maybe his boss Barack Obama. Both black.
The administration has treated Fast and Furious and its hundreds of Mexican victims as it they don’t matter and never will. The mainstream media, other than CBS, has done likewise. To the Democratic party and probably 99% of Democratic voters, Fast and Furious is a non-story. Victims? What victims? Tea Partiers consistently talk about Fast and Furious far more often than any Democrats or media figures do.
Which, in Van Jones’ way of thinking, makes the administration, the media and the Democrats as a party a huge dogpile of callous racists who don’t value the lives of Mexicans.
I’m not saying he’s wrong. He’s not. I’m just shocked that he’s saying it at all.

I’m puzzled. Generally Van Jones deals in all kinds of theories which I don’t even attempt to follow, because he seems obsessed with hot rhetoric that may be better “understood” with more anger than I could find in myself. I think anyone anxious to keep emotion and reasoning in two separate compartments would relate to my reluctance to pay much attention to whatever Van Jones, (and the other rabble rousers of the airwaves) are usually yelling.
Can these people accidentally say something sensible once in a great while? I don’t need Van Jones to tell me that Eric Holder is one of the hot heads in today’s landscape, but I am surprised that he would, because he is a hot head himself, so what is all the fuss about? Have these guys started to fight one another, sensing that the wheels are coming off the wagon? I would certainly enjoy watching Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan and consort duking it out on TV or Twitter, or both.
Perhaps Mr. Jones does not care for the view and his lack of upward mobility since he was thrown under the Forward campaign bus.
I keep wondering what Van Jones has up his sleeve. He certainly seems to be making a lot of pronouncements lately, almost as if he’s trying to rehabilitate his reputation as a Communist blowhard. Maybe he’s angling to take over the Race Hustle as Sharpton, Jackson et al shuffle off this mortal coil?
The Justice Department’s Fast and Furious program killed hundreds of Mexicans, yet Obama’s “my people” attorney general, Eric Holder, acts as if our outrage is racially motivated. Barack Obama does not care about dead Mexicans on the other side of the border. Really, they’re only Mexicans, and they couldn’t have voted anyway. At least if they had made it to America, they would have been able to “punish” their “enemies” and vote for him in the coming election. It’s not like anyone needs ID to vote.
I’ve written about this on several occasions. This is just one.
