Which is two months after he declared for the presidency.
Archive.org shows that the Dystel website used the following biography for Obama as of April 3, 2007:
BARACK OBAMA is the junior Democratic senator from Illinois and was the dynamic keynote speaker at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He was also the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He was born in Kenya to an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister and was raised in Indonesia, Hawaii, and Chicago. His first book, DREAMS FROM MY FATHER: A STORY OF RACE AND INHERITANCE, has been a long time New York Times bestseller.
Obama launched his presidential campaign in February 2007.
By April 21, 2007, the Obama bio had been changed to state that Obama was born in Hawaii:

Interesting, no? Obama had been elected to the US Senate in 2004.
Watch the Washington Post and the rest of the mainstream media treat this story as not very interesting at all.

– die for Obama? Would it kill for Obama?
The MSM will try, but fail, in ignoring this story. They might as well start preparing now.
No matter where he was born, I always felt the “birthers” had a constitutional right to know.
“Watch the Washington Post and the rest of the mainstream media treat this story as not very interesting at all.”
Or at least until they realize that the buzz about this will not go away just because they refuse to address it.
Drip, drip indeed.
Can someone check a first edition of his book “Dreams from my father”, published in 1995. Where does it say he was born? The wikipedia article on the book says Hawaii.
I don’t think people here are trying to build a case Obama wasn’t born here: what they’re suggesting is that Obama is painfully aware of exactly where blacks reside in the “awesome” index of the pie chart of approved races and genders every Democrat carries around inside their head. Being born in Africa trumps just being black, which is already at the top of the “awesome” list – white men are at the bottom.
What they’re suggesting is that, by purposefully trying to use identity politics to get street cred within the Dem Party, it is Obama himself who contributed to this confusion over where he was born.
I was just wondering the exact same thing !
OK, I’ll bite. Why is this interesting?
If you have to ask there’s no use trying to explain it to you…
Chances are, Obama simply lied about being born in Kenya (or allowed the lie to continue) because he saw that being more “exotic” and non-American benefitted him (which is consistent with what we see in “Dreams of my Father”).
For what it’s worth, his literary agent has said that it was a mistake on his part and that Obama was not involved in the error: http://bit.ly/JzJjEG
While it comes across as unlikely, I would caution having more proof that Obama lied before calling another man (i.e. said literary agent) a liar.
I think breitbart is wrong about covering the birther story. There are two ways to cover any story. One way is to investigate it yourself and report the results of your investigation. Breitbart didn’t want to investigate the birther story himself but is now “vetting” Obama. Fair enough.
But the other way to cover a story is to report what other people are saying. There has been a lot of activity, people analyzing the birth certificate, the social security fraud, the selective service regisration fraud, and quiet a few court cases. All of this is fair game to report and all the conservative commentators who are ignoring this are part of the problem not part of the solution. This includes breitbart, instapundit, volkh, and pjmedia.
