A freshman Republican congressman says that TSA screeners got way too touchy-feely with him at the San Antonio International Airport — twice in one week.
Rep. Francisco “Quico” Canseco (R-Texas) was selected for pat-downs on April 16 and 22. When the first search got too invasive, he fought back.
“The agent was very aggressive in his pat-down, and he was patting me down where no one is supposed to go,” Canseco told the KENS 5-I Team. “It got very uncomfortable so I moved his hand away. That stopped everything and brought in supervisors and everyone else.”
Then, the TSA agent claimed Canseco assaulted him when the congressman pushed his hand away.
An airport spokeswoman told the Houston Chronicle that San Antonio Police were called in, but no charges were filed.
“I believe the TSA has become an agency without restraint, and its overzealous policies threaten people’s personal dignity and freedom,” Canseco said in a statement.
The TSA claimed his second search was random, but Canseco said he didn’t see it as a coincidence.
